We traveled via TGV from Charles de Gaulle in July/August of 2018. I was instantly enamored by the ease, speed, comfort, & cost. We traveled from Paris, to Avignon, with a short stop in Lyon and then back again, after our French adventure was over. Thanks for the memory jog.
Thanks for watching! Yes, the TGV is an amazing way to discover France. I’m glad my video could bring back memories of your trip :) Christian from travelmentary TV
Wow what amazing video. You put very detailed information 😍 👌 I wish in Germany we had more high speed line like France that isn’t highly integrated with the classic rail network hence slower 😔
Hi, thanks a lot for your comment, I‘m glad to read that you liked the video. You mention a very important difference between the German and the French railway - the fact that France has a dedicated high speed rail network, while Germany hasn’t. I believe that is the very reason as to why the TGV is so successful and made many flights within France obsolete. Unfortunately, the German ICE operates far below its potential because it has to share rails with slower trains!
Hi, I haven’t had the chance to try out the new seats or the UK’s train services apart from the Eurostar. So I don’t know. But I think that while the old TGV and Thalys seats are indeed comfortable, I also believe that a revamp is necessary after so many years. It’s always the big question how it is done 😉 Christian from travelmentary TV
One thing you need to know about it's bar services is that they are not available on all TGV Inoui services to/from Paris Gare du Nord as these routes take less than 2 hours.
Thank you for this very informative video. We will be travelling to France next year. We hope we can take the train from Paris to Marseille to catch a cruise ship. How far is it from the train station to the port and what do you suggest for the best way to get there?
Hi, to be honest I have no experience at all with cruise ships, so I can't answer that question. I guess on Google Maps one can get an idea of the distance. That might be something to ask the travel agency or travel operator 🤷♂️
Wondering if the train consists of 2 trains put together, how to know which is yours? I guess they all have the same numeration of seats? So how to know which train enter
Hi, thanks for watching. On most high speed trains the numbering of the coaches is shown on electronic plates. If you look closely and stop the video, you can see it here as well. So each coach has a unique number. That way each passenger knows where to enter. Christian from travelmentary TV
You are right indeed! Tbh I didn't pay much attention to that and didn't notice it at first as French is not my mother tongue, but there were no "fraises" anywhere. That should have made me wonder. Thanks for watching, always good to have viewers with an eye for detail :)
Hi, well I guess you are comparing the seats in the train with long haul business class products, which is not a valid comparison in my opinion. I would argue it makes more sense to compare it with what is offered in business class on the same or a similar route. Most inner-European business class products have a cabin that is not much different from that in economy class and it is debatable if that is better than in an average high speed train. Besides there are excellent cabins like in Trenitalia‘s Executive Class or Club Executive in the Italo. You can see them on my channel. Thanks for watching!
One day you can show in a greater detail, how you are entering the platform using your ticket. I don't know how it works - we don't have that system in my country.
Hi! You can see it in the video for a moment, it‘s not rocket science 😀, you just scan your ticket code and the doors open. Pretty much the same as at most airports. Thanks for watching!
Great video. I’ve always enjoyed travel videos like this. And I loved the integration of the infographics. Very nicely done!
Thanks so much!
An incredible video 😊
You put enormously concrete informations about the TGV
Very informative. I need to take the TGV from Paris to Marseille in May.

I've only taken 2-3 time the TGV to go to Disneyland Paris (Marne la vallée) and Paris
Very nice!! It’s a pity though that you couldn’t do a trip on Railjet !! I hope that happens soon
Hope that, too, but Austria and most parts of Europe are near lock-down again, so it may take a while. Thank you very much for watching!

Those seats look way better than refurbed ones. Would you agree? In the UK we have terrible modern seats with very little padding

Haha, I like you noticed that 😂

The dessert indicated on the menu isn't the one you got... It was supposed to be a strawberry cake and you got an apple and apricot purée

Why are first class seats in trains so much less luxurious than the ones in planes?

Hi, yes, for the most part they do. But generally, I‘d say they’re more than happy when you at least try to communicate in French :)
