The Spy Who Loved Me was the first Bond film I ever saw, when I was 10 and it premiered on British TV. The ratings were 22.9 million, meaning 40% of the then UK population was watching it. I've been hooked ever since.
RIP Richard Kiel. Jaws was the most memorable Bond Villain Henchman to me.

One of the ole fella's best Bond films. I appreciate that these films were formulaic and repetitive at that time, but they have a certain charm. Charm that's just not around anymore.

@@sylvester-jb3ljThere’s a funny story behind that line you may know. As they filmed in Egypt, the Egyptian government had an official on set to make sure the country wasn’t being slagged off in the film. Consequently they couldn’t use the line. So Moore mouthed the line rather than saying it out loud, and they dubbed it over in post, the official was none the wiser! 🤣
Best Bond Movies from the 80s, never to be repeated, cheers to all of you who were born in the 60s and grew up on these amazing times like me, we had the best of the best.

Roger Moores Bond had the best songs by far.... Nobody does it better, All time high, For your Eyes Only, hell, even Moonraker and View to a Kill were good songs! Every single one of them creates this warm notalgic feeling...

@@dhart28Great opinion! IMO the best Bond actors are Timothy Dalton, Roger Moore, Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan and George Lazenby. Daniel Craig is great. My personal favorite is Timothy Dalton.

Every show that Roger Moore acted was truly nice and left a deep memorable memory through out my childhood and till now even though I’m coming 60 yrs
Roger Moore was a joy to behold. Always charming and never took himself too seriously. I had the pleasure of doing busness with him on a screenplay I wrote for him, and he was the most kind and helpful individual I ever encountered in the film world. A million best wishes, Roger.. Indeed, you are the best..

I watch this, and the Moonraker version every morning when I get into work. Yea, it makes me cry because I miss those days, and it kinda grounds me in purpose.

The James Bond I grew up watching and in my opinion still the best Bond.
One Bond persona that is sadly overlooked
is Rick Sylvester. He did what no one ever dreamed of doing. For 12 seconds you could hear a pin drop in the theater. When the Union Jack deployed, the British theaters erupted with cheers, clapping, and laughter.
Rick really was the hero in that film, and set the stage for excitement during the rest of the movie.

@@deletebilderberg Think of it this way: If the series was started with Connery and then left out Moore and went straight to the others (Dalton, Brosnan etc) it wouldn't have been anywhere near as successful as if it had left out Connery and then went straight to Moore and the others. Moore is the Elvis of the franchise. All the others are expendable: Moore is not.

For me, TSWLM(1977) and Moonraker(1979) were hugely important James Bond films! What a great actors, entertainment, glamour, gorgeous cinematography, nostalgia... For me, Top-10 is: 1965, 1967, 1969, 1977, 1979, 1981, 1983, 1985, 1987, 1995. ***** Unfortunately, today's movies aren't as good as the old ones! Today(since 2006), James Bond is like a ruthless psychopathic FSB assassin, not a charming English gentleman agent..............................
He is clearly not a psychopath as he falls in love multiple times and loves M like a mother. And this is what agents are actually like, they are not out there having the time of their lives, though bond still has fun sometimes.

Bond shouldn’t be what actual agents are like though, it’s all fantasy nonsense. Even Fleming’s books with the darker themes are total fantasy, it’s escapist stuff! I wouldn’t say Craig’s Bond is a psychopath (outdated term anyway) but he certainly exhibits some of those traits, such as his emotional coldness (obviously formed through the traumas of his career) etc.

And i think Roget moore was the only actor to had genuinely embraced and was extremely proud to have played james bond. all the other actors danial craig included just seems to view it as another time in their career. but roger always got involved with anything relating to bond right up to his death bless him. Roger is and always will be a big hero of mine.
