@@OMENASOSE6111-wt7mz I am a Moore fan, but I would say that Connery was great as well in the earlier works he did. Dalton was great in The Living Daylights and I grew to respect him as Moore said The Living Daylights was a bloody good movie and he was spot on.

everyone hates jaws in moonraker I loved him he's the only bond henchman who ever came back and survived twice him turning babyface on drax was amazing

As Brazilian, I was surprised when I watched it just because the scenes that were recorded at Sugarloaf. Beautiful landscapes from Rio de Janeiro city.
Then years later I got to ride on those cable cars up to Sugarloaf mountain. Magical place. Will never forget.

This is beautiful and what a vocal -I take the knee to Dame Shirley Bassey and she alone.
The opening credits with the parachute jumps is probably the greatest opening in film history-and it was done for real in California!

My first memory of Bond in a cinema in Malta as a kid in 1980. This theme has stayed with me ever since. Beautiful and a film that gets stick and I don't know why, classic Bond escapism.

I know people have issues with this particular Bond movie. It was my first and is still one of my very favorites.
What issues? This was a great movie with many beautiful women. Especially the helicopter pilot.

@@mauser66 Boy am I late on the reply (didn't see), detractors of Moonraker don't like that he goes into space, feeling its only to compete with Star Wars. Some also don't like the sillly Jaws/Dolly storyline and the music cues from other films...Magnificent Seven. They're wrong. It's a great film, as you say.
@@newtonduck1i agree that it doesn't deserve the hate it gets. My issues is the Jaws/Dolly storyline, it's UnNesesary and they could have turned him into a goody much easier and i hate the double pigeon. Otherwise i think that it's a very entertaining movie, Roger is in his prime in the role, i like dr goodhead good enough bond girl and Hugo drax is amazing and has many awesome sequences through it's runtime. I think is an overall good movie despite the silly premise and i am sure people hate it also because it differencient from the novel where he just have to stop a rocket hitting London

Got to see Venice, Italy in the spring of 2003. All of the city built on islands off the coast of the Adriatic Sea is something to say about human ingenuity and will of survival.

This movie was very good in my opinion. It had everything from a wealthy cult leader who made a fortress in space and a battle with space ships with lasers and then love at the end . Bravo James. 👏😎 And this song at the end is lovely it's a real Bond song

Nobody sings James Bond movies like Shirley Bassey.
We are watching Moonraker tonight and it's a James Bond bonanza of daredevil stunts, pure action, and futuristic plot. I must say that Sir Roger Moore has great wit and chemistry with all the other actors and actresses especially the giant Goliath named Jaws (Richard Kiel).

Beautiful song. One of the underrated Bond songs.
Moonraker (the song) being underrated can be attributed to Shirley Bassey. Shirley is a perfectionist. For any song she choose to sing, she will work on it for long time until she feels finally getting it right.
Unfortunately for Moonraker, Shirley only had one week to record this song before the official movie release, so she was rushed to finish the recording. Therefore, Shirley never thought Moonraker as her song, and she did not promote nor sing the song in any of her concert until 2005.
i can imagine that Shirley ( having already made iconic pieces and set records with Goldfinger and Diamonds are Forever) would have been Wanting to equal if not top her other two songs.
I think this might be a special song to her....its SUBLIME ....focus on the lyrics, set against the 'out of this world' backdrop and the sheer emotion and Shirley POWER in this song. SUBLIME i tell you.

I know this song has received a lot of criticism (but not obviously Bassey's performance of it). I always found it quite moving. It seems to be sung from the perspective of someone who has lived enough experiences to have gained proper perspective on those experiences. Not to the extent of 'We Have All The Time In The World', but still a kind of beauty in the years of a life that have unfolded. And Bassey is, of course, incomparable.

This is the first movie I watched in the cinema as child. Didn’t understand the plot by then, the only thing that catched me was the beauty of Lois Chiles.

I love Moonraker, which at the time was the biggest grossing Bond film, even though it's ranked near the bottom of the Roger Moore films.
I'll take any Roger Moore film over any Daniel Craig movie any day.
The Moore films were pure entertainment, and Craig didn't look like he even wanted to be there.
Because they were riding the Scifi bandwagon. Still as a 6yo kid I was amazed!
