That was John Hammond smoking his blues harp. There was some serious blues royalty on the stage. Besides John Lee Hooker, there was Elvin Bishop, Albert Collins, and Willie Dixon up on the stage; they joined George Thorogood, Jeff Simon, Billy Blough, and Hank Carter. All of them blew the roof off the building. They were awesome.
Merci pour les informations.
Absolutely
I was just really starting to sneak into clubs like this to see music like this around this time. I was so young and man, did I get myself in some trouble from time to time. All, totally worth it.
What a show to have been at
R&R
Never thought Elvin Bishop ever got the recognition he deserved. Killer slide and blues player.
I heard Bishop witn Sammy Hagar live. It didnt even come close to George & Dixon here. This truely a rare, beautiful moment.
Elvin also was a known force as a writer, see "Fooled Around and Fell in Love".
Elvin Bishop is great but John Lee Hooker and Willie Dixon are legends, there would be no Elvin Bishop without them. There would be no british blues explosion without the american blues players. Keep them in mind !
All our Rock and Metal would never have come to life without those real heroes like Dixon, Hooker, Collins and of course B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters. It was them who invented Hard Rock. And George and his Destroyers are hard to beat. Hard workers, great music. It's a sheer joy to watch them all playing the kind of music that will never fade.
I was there... great time #StonedBallon Memories
this show is stacked with legends i wish i could of been there
I have told many, over the years, Thorogood is underrated. This has long been proof; so many legends came to jam with him and the band!✊🏽🤘🏽✌🏽
A whole 18 years before I was born!🤣
The Blues is Forever!!!!
Enough said!!!
Nobody going to mention the great Willie Dixon. This guy wrote so many blues standards its mind blowing.
3
Thanx for the mention, and you are so right!
Saw Willie Dixon at Keystone Berkeley c. 1980 - one of many classic shows around that time
Ps - saw John Lee several times at same venue - up front on the dance floor!
He's being noticed! He's having a great time!!
I've always loved George Thorogood and the Delaware destroyers but this video is f****** kick ass
Saw Lonesome George twice in concert,He should of been in the Hall Of Fame years ago he's the real deal!!!!!!
This guy knows what good music is he has covered some of the best!! As well as some good shit of his own!!! Love George!!! John Lee Hooker is one of the greatest blues men ever!!!
George Loves his music. And he always gets great people to join.Fantastic!
nothing but the best when you want to boogie
I'm trying to imagine Mr Hooker stepping onto the stage when I was in my blues band twenty years ago. I'd have just about fainted with the sheer joy and love and pride of it.
George brings in the heavy hitters, incredible.
Génial superbe version
Excellent!!!!! Wow
George....happy as kid in a candy store...
I met JLH backstage, locally, in 1989. As great a man as ever! Music and memories are long lived!
Fantastic I wish I was there!!!
Love them all!
😎👍🍺🎸
Let that boy boogie-woogie!
And, as if that wasn't enough, there's Albert Collins. Lawdy.
OMG That sure looks like John P. Hammond hiding behind his fists, blowing the harp. I’ve never heard him do sideman before!
That's what I thought too
I would have lost my crap if I was at this ..and JLH walked out ... too good.
I was at this show and did lose my crap!
JLH and Willie exiting the stage like they did was very significant 85 was about the end of their generation of blues guys and they were turning it over to the young players george then says the"blues are forever' pretty amazing or maybe this weed is better than i thought or [and this is closer to the truth] im full of crap

If George is there, it's a party! Looks like John Lee also had a good time! These two are great together.
WILLIE DIXON wrote over 500 songs and his work has been recorded by some of the best-known blues musicians of his era, including Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, and Little Walter.

Great times! Great music!!
Some may be critical of GT but he could rock it with the best. Love the respect and acknowledgement he showed the masters! He truly is a student and appreciates where he learn’t it! He took it to the next level, best compliment of all, the Masters dug it!
Who has been critical of GT?
The Ice Man, The Master of the Telecaster, Mr. Albert Collins!!!!
Damn it George love you with John Lee Hooker jam this all the freak in time 💘 💘 💘 💘
What most of it have been like to watch John Lee Hooker play with George Thorogood what a magnificent event this would have been to be at?
Too right
Ppñpppñññpppppppppp
This would have been amazing to seen this whole show live
Now that is blues royalty.
This is freaking historic!
George: You have The Boogie 🥰and even Albert Collins joined the session !! JLH is a legend. Plus Willie Dixon. Wow, I'm stunned.
Jeezzus. Gonna have to remember today as the day I realized Thorogood was so much more than the radio hits I knew, which were great don't get me wrong. But I should have made the connection that he was a blues ripper long before today, so that's on me. Dayum. I got some catching up to do.
wow, what a show. "The blues is forever" exactly thats it!
Hair is standing up on my arms listening to this
I FEEL ALLRIGHT WITH THIS MUSIC !!!
Man all these concerts they keep showing from the Capitol Theatre back in those days. What a time to live in New Jersey and go to that venue.
MrSmokeydog that's what I keep thinking
Yep, I saw Mahavishnu there too
What part of New Jersey when you're not talkin about Westfield New Jersey
Where is a Time Machine when you need one..
oh oh this was like a dream i have had for many a year.unbelivable!!!!😵😵😵😵😵😵😵😵😵!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!¡!!!!!!!!John Lee and George!!!!!!!!😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
how much talent can you put on one stage?
What a line up of legends.
in 2019... not much

I only see one. The rest are garbage.
George Gray the last waltz
One great musician excitedly introducing a legend... Doesn't get much better than this. It's things like this that make me realize everything's gonna be alright. Troubles are sure to come, but they can be overcome.
When I said "introducing a legend," I should have said "introducing legends." Even better.
Just go to clarksdale ms. And support the blues.
JLH looked around and said! "We in good hands!"
This entire concert blows my mind- all the greats playing with George and the Destroyers- what a great show! I have watched this over and over and it is one of the BEST in my eyes. I hope to see George and the boys make it back to my neck of the woods next year😉
Seen the boys last summer in Orillia you were not allowed to dance I had floors well I danced sucurity tried to give me a space to dance they were good they had a good laugh I wasn't sitting down with George playing are you kidding me
Gotta be one of the most underrated artists out there, what a perfect collaboration. Lonesome George heyyyy heyyyyyyyyyyy!,👌🤣🏴
Best song ever? I know I want to leave the planet hearing this!
Great dúo John lee hoocker and George Torogood Willie Dixon and Albert Collins, with your Boogie part two 🎸🎸🥁🎹🎷
For those of you who just need a little boogie to lighten up your day today.

Thank you Brother, Ever been to TULSA OKLAHOMA? You NEED TO HIT CAINS BALLROOM. NO BRAG, FACT. 423 N. MAIN. BABY YOU WON'T REGRET A SINGLE SECOND.
... how bout the #1 fan in the front row with the yellow trucker hat, and towel around his neck? Very classy, and smart move by Mr. Thorogood there. Pretty neat to see him step off of the stage, and enjoy the legendary show amongst the fans, after all he is, and always has been a huge fan of all of those guys, and it's absolutely evident in his music. Love me some George Thorogood, he's one of a very few modern day players that made the classic blues their own.
Truly awesome video, thanks for sharing👍😎
An absolutely all-star lineup with so many legends that have now left us.
The boy got to let it out ....... let the boy boogie...... legendary song RIP John Lee Hooker 😎
Was browsing my concert ticket stubs recently and was reminded that this concert we went to was part of an MTV special. So glad to get to reminisce from 35 years ago!
Should watch the whole concert from beginning to end - so cool as each guy came out one by one and then altogether for this song
This is already mega epic around min 6! Hurry up physics men... Make worm holes able to be ridden and get me a ticket to this night!
John Lee singing at the mic, no guitar, great concert.
This is a great rendition of Boogie Chillun, but my all time favorite is John Lee Hooker in 1948. It can be found elsewhere on youtube. It is much more raw and less polished, just the way I like it.
agree. John Lee's early stuff was the best.
chilin I first saw George in Virginia Beach, I was on the front row and it was 1978
No matter how many times I watch this or any like it I can't sit still to it. I love such a love affair with the blues. Then when you just put legends like this together. It could be what we just seeing in this video or it could be anybody from junior to rl on down-the-line. Would have love to have seen one or any of so many different shows whether they were by themselves or with other people. There is no matching anything talking about the Blues and the players.
A white boy from the sticks always said. I knew Chuck Berry before I knew Elvis.
Fantastic those Blues Boogie Cracks on that Stage. Thank you. I enjoy it very much
A show so good... George had to get down into the audience to watch!
Elvin Bishop😎
My Dad was drinking buddies with George Thorogood back in the mid to late 70s, and has quite a few tales to share, not always glamorous, decorative, or legal... but quite interesting to say the least.
If Thorogood liked to "drink alone," a lot of crazy things happened once he had company.
Thorogood and John Lee; this is the stuff, man...
Great, thx for this tale..
Good Lord, that was uplifting!
I used to have the same shirt George is wearing here. I wore it out...shreded to the thread. I want another one.
WoW the King of boogie is on the stage ...
Not bad, but the best version is with Canned Heat on the album hooker'n'heat
Elvin!
Let the boys boogie boogie, talk about in the pocket rhythm , they ain't good looking but they sure can play, 😎😎
Fucking Awesome , incredible..Peace and Respect...
How more grand can this be to see John Lee Hooker and George Thorogood and the Destroyers performing.
I was at this show... it rocked!
yeah - i'm old
I saw George and the Destroyers once, I believe around 1994. They opened for ZZ Top. Couldn’t have asked for a better opening act. One of my top 5 concerts, maybe top 3.
I've never seen Thorogood. But man I wish I had, that Boy ROCKS !
George Thorogood, I heard on the radio is coming to my city ! Yeah Baby you know it.
John Lee Hooker: the King of the Boogie.
Willie "I am the Blues" Dixon.
Albert Collins: The Master of the Telecaster"
George Thorogood: "Bad to the Bones"
You can't ask for nothing else!!!
America is full of great musicians. Greetings. ua-cam.com/video/P6Xr-e0rcT0/v-deo.html *ROCKABILLY GUITAR* Guild Guitar in the style of *Vince Gordon*

Blind OWL canned heat
@@scottmcintosh2988 That ain't Alan. Maybe a sub.
Yes it is Allen John Lee Hooker said to him that is the cat he Is on Hooker n Heat album I had the final album in the 60 S early 70 s he played HARP on that double album one of my favorite albums of all time I had heard them live also the best music , John Lee Hooker was one of Blind OWL s idols !
That’s not Alan Wilson
(aka Blind Owl) on the Harmonica from Canned Heat, he passed away
Sept 3,1970 I was so sad to see him go.
Must've shaved that raccoon that was living on his face in the 60s!
Don't forget to boogie
i love Hooker gréât bluesman repose in peace
Years ago, I heard John Lee interviewed on the syndicated Blues Deluxe radio show. He claimed that there would be no blues without women. Thoughts?
I've died and gone to heaven. This is what true music is all about. I feel all right - yeah.
I first heard George Thorogood in 1977 when a sample copy of his first record was sent to the record store I was working in. I didn't think he would make it big, but I loved it.
when you're feeling down, put this on.........a little John Hammond and a little John Lee Hooker add in a dash of George Thorogood and just go with it, baby....the best........and love that no matter their age, they're rockin' .....and we had all this..................blues and rock.....Black Betty by Ram Jam and Georgia Satellites, Keep your hands to yourself.........so many. God bless everyone, be happy............
I want to have JLH played at my funeral, it will put a very big smile on my face!

This must be in the top 10 videos in youtube. Everybody's amazing, but just how magnetic was John Lee Hooker, man, what a deep presence,....Boogie on people! On a side note, I'm reading some comments about today's artists (Ariana Grande etc) not being up to the task, but you lknow what people, I think they're just misguided. Deep down I'm sure many of them would sing along with Jonh Lee and they'd be great given the right circumstances. My point is many of today's stars are very talented but for whatever reason they are wasting their talents on soulless stuff...
It don't get get much better than this
There is a better one. John Lee Hooker & Cannet Heat 1970 Try it out. Boogie chillen 2
No, nope, no.. it doesnt, this is music, REAL music, real blues, real soul, real everything!!
@@vibesahead ok, i agree, that is epic as well! i kind of forgot about that one, thnx for the reminder!

The stuff of legend by LIVING legends back then. Fabulous post . Many thanks
And that kids...is how you close out a show..
Quite a few blues masters sharing the stage here. Wow!
Thank you John Lee Hooker ❤️ and thank you Destroyers for keeping his music alive💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Never to be duplicated...
I bet that was a GREAT night!!
Is that not Elvin Bishop on the Gibson E-335 Dot - or am I hallucinating ?!?
This is what a great performer is like (JLH). not the screaming crap that pervades the world today!!
If you can't boogie, you shouldn't be here!
Funny if James Brown stumbled onto the stage wrecked off his face at the end! 😂
I would have given the left one to have been there..
I was there and both nuts are still intact
Oh! my god I think that's Elvin Bishop plaayin with them bad boys!
Never had a better summer!
Just listened to a few tracks my dad liked when he was still around and now I got the blues fever.
Freaking awesome!!!
If you can't boogie you must be dead. It in him, and it got to come out. Hey, hey, hey.
And folks that made me feel so good!
The Blues is Forever!!!!
Enough said!!!
I saw GT circa 1987. Greatest show.
