The original Wits and Wagers Deluxe edition comes with all the components you need to play and it is solid. I bought the Vegas edition just to get the questions to play with deluxe game components. I recommend trying the Deluxe edition , you will like it I think.
My original review of bad company was a 7. I had similar thoughts to you. I have since upped it to a 9. I’ve played both this and space base over ten times and I prefer bad company. That being said, they’re not THAT similar. Bad company is a family weight game. It’s far more approachable than space base. It plays way quicker and doesn’t take itself too seriously. I am surprised you got wrecked so bad - most of our games have been extremely close

We love wits & wagers! Definitely not enough chips though. The poker chips would’ve made your experience better. I personally use the iron clays like you said
If anyone ever suggests to play Star Wars: The Deck building game I am out. That game was interesting in theory with a lot of systems from some of my favorite games but it just didnt work. There is no way that the rebels should be able to lose if the player is even slightly competent and that makes the game pointless. The fact that it has a 7.9 on BGG infuriates me to no end.
Exploding kittens is absolutely awful barely even a game. Its only grace is the funny premise and art, mechanically it is almost devoid of any strategy. I would rather play snakes and ladders. Hexplore it domain of Mirza Noctis would also be up there for me. Loved the idea, theme and presentation but the rulebook is the second worst I have ever seen and watching playthroughs did not help as they each seem to play their own version of it even the official one goes against what is written in the rulebook on occasion and all you do is watch numbers go up. I got through it once and beat the big bad after 6 hours playtime and a previous 4 hour practice run previous packed it up and sold it. Unless you love long games with dry mechanics and such poor documentation you will be constantly house ruling things I would not recommend it to anyone. Shame as its very pretty but its very much theme over function.
