Golf Show Episode 94 | Are these the most expensive Wedges in the WORLD? PXG Sugar Daddy II review
Вставка
- Опубліковано 25 вер 2024
- Hi everyone!
Welcome to Episode 94 of the Golf Show.
In this episode Paul tests his new PXG Sugar Daddy II milled wedges. After being fitted by PXG's Master Fitter (as you can watch in Episode 77 - link below), now Paul has his hands on his new hardware, so what are these wedge really like out on the course.
Opting for a 50 degree and a 56 degree, with one of each of the BP-Grind and C-Grind, Paul tests these clubs out from a variety of scenarios. Will 56 be sufficient as Paul's most lofted club?
However, at £389 / $450 a wedge, these milled wedges made of CNC soft carbon steel are more expensive than a Driver! For that kind of cash, they HAVE to be, very very good.
Hope you enjoy, please add some comments to say what wedges you are currently playing.

Mine are PW, 50°, 54° bent to 55° and 64° bent to 63° all black full face zipcore. Love them
i use a pxg 54 for those little chip/run shots around the green and i get a lot more bite than you do. it must be a technique thing. I use the Michael Breed method of sending the club head low and down the line to maximize time spent on the grooves and provide a lower ball flight. they are really predictable and leave me a ton of 1 putts. I do like the 50 from 40 to 90 yards out if I have room to let it run out a little bit. I switched from TaylorMades and like my pxg sticks better, although whatever clubs you hit you will find a degree of proficiency with them if you practice and get a feel for them.
Just received my gen 6 0311p which included sugar daddy2 in 54&60. Unbelievably good wedges and worth the extra money imho
Beautiful. I love my SD2 wedge. Enjoy
have cleveland, ping and tried the pxg 0311 forges. 50 and 54. they all seem quite comfortable and like always really depends on my tempo and line.
Some good tekkers there PCH!
I got fitted for a gen 5 0311 full bag today ! Im getting the sugar daddy 2 50, 56 lofted to a 55 & 60 degree wedge
That will be a great set go clubs. Enjoy. 👍🏼👍🏼
I was very tempted to buy the Sugar Daddy II wedges, but chose the new forged version that just released. I have not yet received them yet, but very excited to try them. I kind of wish I went ahead and paid the extra bit for the more premium wedge. What differences you think there would be in the forged ones and those? I’ve never hit anything milled like the Sugar Daddys before, so I don’t know what those feel like.
Hi Michael. I found when testing my 2 year old (and well used) 0311 forged wedges there was no drop off in spin rate as I showed in my recent episode. The sugar daddy 2s look beautiful and I like the full grooves across the face. I think you will be fine with the forged.

I can appreciate the engineering behind them but...I'm not a lover of the full face grooves. Just doesn't work for my eyes.
I think I'll be looking into the Roger Cleveland designed MD5 Jaws...being as I've only ever used Cleveland Wedges 😉
I do like the look of them but I'd need to marry a Sugar Mummy to afford them 😜
I only carry a 52 and a 58. Next time I have a change I might look at the full face grooves.
Cheers Kev
Pricey but look good.
They perform as well Luke, but I agree it’s a significant price point 👍🏼
@@GolfShow I was talking about you mate! 😂

So thatts just convinced me to NOT spend £300 on wedges
