Find a shiny mewtwo: it needs certain stats. I reset if mewtwo is slower than my venusaur, I'll then reset if HP isn't either 228 or 239, but if it is, the def/speed/special all need to be 145/201/234 respectively. (I've managed to do all that twice) but the attack can be 8 of 16 numbers.
Technically due to how shiniest were implemented in gen2, they kind of exist in gen1. They just need very specific DV values. The game will not let you know but if you figure what the stats should look like you can do it. This should then mean that if you transfer a Mewtwo with the right DVs to gen2, it'll show as shiny.
This sounds like a pain, having a dumb shiny animation sounds like a big convenience now lmao.
