The Q50/Q60 was a such a typical Japanese tuner car...it was always just a handful of mods away from greatness. Infiniti/Nissan could have so easily tweaked the steering (non-DAS), suspension, and updated the interior and had a really competitive car. The engine was already great, perhaps needing only a tune to stay competitive. The fundamentals of the car were very good, particularly in the year it came out in.
Its typical Japanese car in the fact that they Japanese are letting all their RWD based cars rot on the vine. Lexus does the same thing. FWD crossovers get all the attention and the ES, but the RWD based vehicles are laughably out of date. Infiniti is no different.
@@MercOne Yeah, Japan's been this way for about 20 years now sadly. Nissan made a valiant effort to stay active here but has obviously failed at this point. At least we have the BRZ/GR86 and Miata still.
Hey Matt, thanks for still doing the news, I hope when the last Infiniti Q50 leaves the assembly line you give the car a toast. I have driven that car several times, and almost 8 years ago bought one. Friend had one, they were very reliable and with all wheel drive were pretty amazing in the snow. My friend had just the 3.7 V6 no turbo, but very reliable. I know people hated the interior with the dual screens, but it really didn't bother me, but I know people hated it for that. When I see my friends Q50 still looks sharp and I think people really didn't give them a fair chance because every one wants a Lexus. I actually think the Q50 was the best all around Japanese Luxury Sports Sedan, and great styling. Really was a great car. I will admit The new Acura TLX that came out a couple years back I think is a better car and looks sportier/ sharper, but the good old Q50 from 11 years ago still looks very nice and still had a great chassis with true rear wheel drive layout, where as the Acura is Front wheel drive layout. I will say though the Acura All Wheel Drive system is a better system than the Infiniti, just reacts faster. I do wish Infiniti kept it going a few more years.
It’s so strange that Toyotas going to come out with 2 3 row EVs as soon as next year while Ford won’t have any and not to mention that Kia, Hyundai, GM, Stelllantis, Subaru, Honda, Nissan, and VW all have 3 row EVs planned
Q50 discontinuation is just another example of Nissan not giving a crap about its consumers. They refused to put in the money it needed to be successful.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was a self-justifying situation...they let the car decline without doing any major updates to it over the course of a decade, then used the declining sales to demonstrate that it wouldn't be worth the investment to update it or replace it. In the end, car companies won't be satisfied until they've reached 100% SUV saturation, so they're no doubt looking for any excuse to trim models.
It's too bad about the Q50, although not unexpected. I leased one in 2017. In 2024 it's essentially the same car. They let it rot on the vine. I liked it, it was a comfortable highway cruiser with decent power. Although not really dynamic. The older G37s are honestly more fun to drive. But they could've at least refreshed it.

You should cover the state of Texas suing gm over their selling of personal information without consent. Lawsuit alleges some pretty juicy things from people not knowing what they’re agreeing to, claiming not agreeing will disable safety systems
I nearly wept at the thought of the 1968 reproduction gauges for the newer Mustang's. Honestly, I don't think I could handle such a thing. I miss my '68 Restomod more than most could imagine. In fact, I _still_ cannot look at photos of her without getting emotional. Mind you, it has been over twenty years since we departed. Then again, I don't have to tell you [Matt]. As the old saying goes - _"Misery loves company."_ And since we grew up in roughly the same generation, you will undoubtedly recognize the voice when I say: _"You got a friend in me."_ Cool concept nevertheless. Nissan/infiniti both need some serious people attending their meetings. It's obvious why the altima vc turbo flopped, be they put a CVT transmission vs their 9 speed. At least honda put the 10 speed on the accord 2.0T sport. Same with the q50, it need an interior update with the 9 speed too, the model was too dated. Plylus they might be getting rid of the titan but same It's needs a interior update and exterior redesign like the new 2025 frontier.

The new lambo is underwhelming. It’s okay but seems uninspired; not sure if it’s due to the passion, regulations, or top brass at VW, but they seems to just chase numbers on the thing (HP, 0-60, 10 piston brakes, etc.). I guess we’ll see how it drive but looking at it inside and out, it seems to be created from a board rather than a passionate team.
9:30 This car will be great for ladies. They typically don't give a sht about cars other than "is it expensive" so i can parade it around with my shoes and bags that are also limited and $$$. Posers. And for the old men who can afford such a thing but have no driving ability dictating the purchase of this car. So in that respect it will sell. An Infiniti dealer north of me has two Q50 Red Sport's at $10,000 off MSRP off the bat. Could be interesting for a lease.
