The entire planetary history, from the first coagulated rocks in orbit, until now. The entire evolution of biological life. The joy of existing in this reality, and the awareness of the fact that it is an opportunity for each of us to live meaningfully. I'm glad you came back to Nightwish.
Floor: "Enter Luca"
Marko: "Enter Ionia"
Emppu: "Enter Sandman"
nice1 =)
This made me giggle 😅
😁 Nice
You forgot Floor: "Enter Ratkind". We mustn't forget the Ratkind. They're always there waiting for their chance. 🤪
@@ronnoe6708 he also forgot her earlier "enter life"
“Every note is a victory… a triumph over despair, over existential dread” damn that is a perfect description of this song’s post-climax music. Loved the reaction.
Welcome to Nightwish World. Our World. WE WERE HERE, and we are lucky to have Nightwish with us. Greetings from Greek Nightwish Army!

Hello Greek Division greetings from German south/west division
It IS Tuomas their keyboardist, who is a genius!!
Wonderful heartfelt reaction. This epic production is arguably one of the most unforgettable complex and beautiful songs ever written. Nightwish is at another level 💥💥💥💥
Yes! One of though - the other is The Poet and the Pendulum...
Both in o e show? And with 7 Days to the Wolves?
What a concert.
only Nightwish does this to ppl... ive seen them live, all i say is it should be on everybody's bucket list.. thx ROCK ON!
I love how many reacters on youtube just get emotional. And many of the tears seem to be tears of joy.
Wow!! This is the most beautiful reaction to this masterpiece..This is why we love Nightwish. We have non control.. thats the comfort..and love makes it worth while..Thank you!❤️
I saw Nightwish live in Nov 2022, they are awesome, I was mesmerised, could not look away
Welcome to the NIGHTWISH ARMY. I'm in it since 25 years now and yes, they still bring me to tears... 🤘💜
Everything you said made sense, totally. The first time I heard and watched it, tears came out of my eyes without me crying....
Thank you😘
This composition is a masterpiece. Performed by outstanding musicians with feeling and depth with regards to the message.Anyone hearing this song will feel the emotion or cannot resist reacting to this in body and/or mind. That’s what good music does to people. And this is exceptionally good music. So don’t feel embarrassed but be proud you felt what we all felt listening to this.
What can brown do for you? You’ll get comments that you should have done the Tampere version. Don’t worry about that. This version is fantastic as well, and has it’s own nuances. It’s darker, which helps, Troy uses an e-bow to create string effects, and of course, Mr. Dawkins in person. Tampere has it’s own awesome attributes, and you should watch it as well. Both should be enjoyed. This is an incredible journey through the history of life on Earth, and a true masterpiece in my opinion. WE WERE HERE!
A FEW REMARKLE WORDS IN THE SONG.
THE TAPESTRY OF CHEMISTRY:
The periodic table of the chemical elements.
AEON:
Used in reference to a period of a thousand million years (especially in geology, cosmology and astronomy), its more common usage is for any long, indefinite period
THE GARDEN:
Not only the earth but also the whole universe.
THE GOLDILOCKS ZONES:
refers to the habitable zone around a star. It's the zone that has just the right temperatures for ( intelligent) life to develop.
LUCA:
It's the acronym for the Last Universal Common Ancestor, a key concept in the study of early evolution and life's origin that has been tracked by scientists for years.
ENTER SANDMAN:
Song of the group Metallica
LUCY OF THE AFAR
Collection of several hundred pieces of fossilized bone representing 40 percent of a female of the hominin species Australopithecus AFARENSIS In Ethiopia,
Why was Lucy so important?
In 1974, Lucy showed that human ancestors were up and walking around long before the earliest stone tools were made or brains got bigger, and subsequent fossil finds of much earlier bipedal hominids have confirmed that conclusion. Bipedalism, it seems, was the first step towards becoming human.
DEVONION SEA:
The Devonian is a geologic period and system of the Paleozoic, spanning 60.3 million years ..., called after the place Devon in the UK where rockes of that period were first studied.
1st here! Great reaction. It may be worth your while also checking out the live from Tempere version for your own enjoyment. It is a much more visually stimulating experience! Stay safe 🤘 ✌️
Not to take anything away from this performance, but for me, my favorite version of this masterpiece was when they performed it in Tempere in 2015.
Agree!
Probably, but I love Troy's e-bowed guitar.
This version has it's own charms
I need a combination of the two!!! 😂😂
Matter of personal taste, but I prefer this one because of Troy's extended Ebow solo in the introduction. That is gorgeous!
When you listen to them with an open heart and with an open mind, you never recover. You just let Nightwish change you. Song by song. Bit by bit. It'll lead you to a better place.
Nightwish...just like you I watched this with my mouth wide open. It is incredible! Floor well...all I can say is just amazing!!! The undisputed queen. All the band members are unbelievably good. I'm so addicted to this band ❤❤❤
Wow, I haven't seen a reactor yet that has noticed that one insane voice drop from Floor. FINALLY someone noticed and drew attention to it! Floor, like the rest of the band, is just out of this world. Your comments weren't boring or annoying at all - quite the opposite. I think you feel about this band the same way as anyone who really follows the music, poetry and storytelling of Nightwish.
Thanks for your reaction! More Nightwish reactions please, I can't get enough of it :)
There are quite a few reactors on UA-cam who are singers and vocal coaches themselves, and they tend to notice such things. They also tend to be quite impressed by Floor. Just for instance, check out The Charismatic Voice (the channel of opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff). You will find some very technical analysis of singing technique there, but also deep respect for artists like Floor. From someone who is no slouch herself.
I remember the first time I saw and heard this song. I was stunned for like 10 minuts just sitting there staring at the screen. I was completely blown away and was very emotionel. Today I still get the same feeling and my eyes are always wet when the song is finished. This is what Nightwish do to you….. ❤️❤️🇩🇰🇫🇮
Genuine, beautiful, confronting, clearness, hope, survival and infinity.
Good luck, man!!!
You provided the best breakdown of the meaning of this masterpiece that I have heard.
Finally someone who has been able to tell me exactly how I feel when I listen to Nightwish. Thank you so much! 🤩
The backgrond music was recorded by The London Philharmonic Orchester plus London Choir and London Childrens Choir recorded at Angel Studios in London ..
Great reaction to the greatest song on earth😄 thnx from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
Great reaction again. I talked to my sister about Nightwish and she said she knew the band. So I send her the greatest show on earth, the video from Tampere. In hindside she ment she heared of the band. I didn't hear from her in a good part of an hour and when I asked if she watched the video she send an app that I had to give her some time. She was flabbergasted and couldn't find the words. I think you've had such an experience.
I started listening to Nightwish about a year and a half ago. I still get chills listening to them. I totally understand where you're coming from. Peace Love Music.
My favorite band
My friend, I loved the emotion and intelligence of this reaction. You don't want it to end? Then watch the Tampere, Finland version of this song-longer, better filmed, better audio.
After a bad day need listen this....best reaction ever i seen.
See Nightwish LIVE and die happy :-) Roll on November 22nd!
Did you go to the Birmingham concert Nov 2022
Please, do yourself a favor and watch the Tampere performance too. You will need hear/see both performances a few times for it all to sink in.
Pause all you need, we only ask you rewind a few seconds to get back in the groove.
Heard and saw The Greatest Show on Earth on May 15, 2022. Denver, Colorado. After two cancellations in L.A. Calif. due to covid. Great show.
I have the same reaction after listening to it for hundreds of times, it's a true art
Respect for you man ...!!! Shine on ...
Btw, do 'the day the world breaks down'-Ayreon. The one with the comments from Arjen, peaks behind the scenes, technical info and celebrating every singer in the trackI think you'll really like it!
seemed like you kinda needed this song
was a pleasure to join you on your journey
Music is so subjective. Where you feel tragedy, I feel hope. And what a band Nightwish is with Floor. It makes you feel and think and explore
WE are Here you got it man!
Never seen a more real and heartfelt reaction. Pure awesomeness 🙏🏻❤️thank you!!!
Greetings from Finland 🇫🇮🤘
It's amazing how different songs make different people feel differently. When you saying it was melancholy and made you feel sad, it felt really uplifting to me. Just the fact that we are here is pretty cool.
I also feel this -song- masterpiece, the most uplifting message from Tuomas and Nightwish, with the great collaboration of Richard Dawkins.
I felt both sides the melancholy and the exceptional, it was a nice balance between despair and hope that followed on and in each other.
I loved this reaction so much. Thank you so much. I have watched this so many times but seeing your reaction is a form of reliving my first time hearing this BEAUTY.
During the Virtual World shows, the chat server broke when thousands of people all over the planet typed "WE WERE HERE" at the same time.
The last minutes of this opus are beautiful. We see The Tree of Life. Battered and bare, but still holding the potential of new life. Then a recording of the evolutionary biologist Sir Richard Dawkins work. Sir Richard Dawkins then speaks. The audience grows quiet. He commands the audience. His speech seems antiquated, because it is. He is quoting Sir Charles Darwin: The Origins of Species. You hear waves lap along a shoreline, because all life begins in the sea. And the cycle of life starts again. So yes. There is beauty in this view of life.
oh please, please, PLEASE react to the opener of this concert, "Shudder before the Beautiful" too.
(33:07) ...there are a lot more mountains, prime mountains, to climb.
...and, if you liked it , the rest of the show ... =)
we will be here
A wonderful reaction! I love your passion for music and the performance of the band members. I'm a lot older than you, but I had the same reaction when I first encountered Nightwish a couple of years ago. My daughter listened to them fifteen/twenty years ago and I never noticed them. I think I was so engrossed in my day-to-day survival in the rat race of my life that I wasn't able to hear the Nightwish music calling me to a more elevated and personally meaningful existence. Now I'm retired and I can't get enough. My wife bought me all the Nightwish CD's and DVD's last year for Christmas. I'm so happy to see you so engaged with this band. I think you'll see/hear all music through a different filter as you continue your reaction journey. Well done!
Beautiful reaction. You conveyed perfectly how Nightwish's music makes me feel.
I agree with @Brian Almeida - and also invite you to add the Tampere concert to your personal experiance. Some might say that you didn't get the underlying story at the beginning or didn't mention e.g. Bach-Quote or Enter Sandman riff. BUT I like your reaction for its honesty in all emotions you "endured" during this very special piece of art. And in the end that's what it's all about. You "lived" with each moment of the song and your way of doing so was heartwarming. Thank you 👏 and hang on 🤞🎵🤝👍
Welcome to the greatest band on earth playing the greatest song on earth in the greatest show on earth. Happy to see you again dude. Cheers from Greece.
Haven't been this touched by a reaction to this song for a while, I think I needed to experience it with you. Thanks ❤️
That’s so wonderful to here. Thank you so much for sharing that with me and for sharing in the experience of this wonderful performance with me as well. Comments like this make my heart happy in such a unique and special way. Really, I can’t thank you enough. ❤️❤️❤️
great reaction
I love this song, but it's an entire 15 minute kick in the teeth. So much emotion in such a short time! I sobbed through nearly the entire thing. I still do, even though I've seen it a dozen times at least.
To put this song into perspective, The Greatest Show On Earth is a song that Tuomas made to take 14.3 _billion_ years, and boiled them down into 24 minutes -- when the song was originally 40 minutes. The reason for shortening it even more was had he not done that, Nightwish couldn't play the song live.
And, just so it be said, Tuomas considers this song his magnum opus.
And lastly, if you want to hear more from Tuomas, listen to the 8-track second side to Human :||: Nature, which culminates in Geraldine Butler reading from Dr. Carl Sagan's work Pale Blue Dot in a track called All the Works that Adorn the World: Ad Astra, with the translation from Latin being roughly "Praise be to the stars."
Another song to consider is Shoemaker, which is dedicated to Dr. Eugene Shoemaker, the scientist who discovered that craters on Earth are caused by asteroids and meteors. Sadly, Dr. Shoemaker was killed in a car crash in 1997, and was cremated, with his urn being launched to the South Pole of the moon. He is the only human to be buried on a celestial body other than Earth.
But to put this song into perspective, I'll close with this: To quote a favorite sci-fi show of mine called Firefly, we were here -- and that, good sir, makes us mighty!
What a wonderful and insightful reaction to a masterpiece! Thank you for that!
I've seen this performance several times and you now know that it never gets old. The performance was infinitely profound and mind-blowing. Nightwish creates just incredible songs, performances, messages...
As a millennial who has been rocking to nightwish since 2001, nightwish is the cure. Sad? Nightwish. Happy? Nightwish. Mad? Nightwish. Heartbroken? Lonely? Creative? Brave? Hopeful? Imaginative? In love? Existential dread? NIGHTWISH!!!! I could listen to this song every morning to set a tone for my day. Makes me want to be a better person.
Great reaction...this song is very bittersweet
Thank you is the best thing we can tell to Nightwish (and in particular to Tuomas)... To have been part of the crowd you're talking about, the message, the energy and the joy you're receiving is amazing... Never feel that again... Hope to have once again. This song is a masterpiece, but the entire songs of nightwish deserve to be listen and shared. I think this music is an "endless form"
Thanks. Love your reactions. I’m 50+, Not new with them. Seen live etc. Still, just had to stop the car to whipe my eyes because the overwhelming feeling of life they pumped into me again.
15:00 Tuomas (keyboard guy) is a mastermind behind this band. There is a reason why Nightwish fans call him Metal Mozart.
It was Troy who created the idea for this song. When he joined the band he gave a copy of The Greatest Show on Earth to Tuomas and walked him through it. It was he who wrote the letter to Dr. Dawkins and asked him to narrate from his book. His appearance in person at Wembley was an added treat. I was at this concert and the effect live was far greater than what we see here second hand.
So troy is a metal Mozart?
I’ve listened to this song hundreds of times n it makes me cry every time. Especially at the end.
It’s very powerful. Tuomas is an amazing composer.
Getting the vibe/goal of the song after a few minutes is quite impressive.
if you listen to them now at festivals in Hellfest and Deichbrand 2022, they have gotten even better, exceptional after so many years🤟🏻🤟🏻🎶🎶
This truly is The Greatest Show on Earth... History of our solar system. Nightwish live is a dream. Thank you for continuing to react to Nightwish. This band gets into your soul. By the way, I saw them live at the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco on May 18th. Awesome. Nightwish at Pinkpop 2022 was good. Hellfest 2022 was great. But Nightwish at NIGHT at the Deichbrand Festival 2022 just set a new all-time standard. The audio and video at this concert are better quality than Wacken 2013 or any other Nightwish concert. Floor and the entire band were at the very top of their game before another huge crowd. New songs, old favorites, and a swag that is unmatched. Floor Jansen, our Valkyrie goddess, is holding her closing notes longer and better than ever. Absolute perfection. Here’s the link:

1:12:30 The Greatest Show On Earth (12 Minute Version)
1:24:18 Ad Astra (Finally! The whole outro)
Great reaction. Thank you.
Thanks for this reaction. You are one of the 'one in a hundred' persons, who get the message of this masterpiece. Peace!
Because when ones heart has heard the chaos in their life, one begins to understand the beginning
My heart fills with joy seeing your reaction.
You describe many of my thoughts with surgical precision.
THANK YOU!
There was no sorrow or tragedy in Floor's intro. "Archean Horizon" was during the 2nd Eon of Earth's history (after the Hadean Eon when Earth was nothing but hot lava). There is BEAUTY in what she is singing and with what Tuomas wrote, no sadness at all. "Opus Pefectum" not tragedy. However, the tragedy is later when mankind RUINS the planet with "giant mushroom clouds" leading to a "grand finale"
Well, there was if someone feels it that way. You may not but it is only for you.
I don't think the song implies that mankind ruin the planet. The song listed human activites hunting, war, poetry, philosophy, science, just as history. Part of life, which the greatest show on Earth. and among al humans that will never get to be born, we won the lottery of birth, and Nighwish invites us to celebrate with them that we were here.
Great reaction... But...But.... for a more spectacular version, you need to see the Tampere version.... i'm not saying this version isn't, because its mind blowing, but Tampere is outdoors, stadium, & probably better as a whole... you will see what i mean... Enjoy 🤘
This is epic..this is amazing..this is wonderful..What I am trying to say is..this is how we play music in Finland. 😉🙏❤️
I had the same deep feeling seeing this for the first time, in another way though, but we all have our own interpretation, and that's the beauty of Nightwish music. Thank you.
Thank you!
I think you feel that way because Nightwish just whispered in your ear, in the form of music, that you too are one of the most beautiful infinite forms. Don't worry, all of us who follow NW feel the same way. Greetings from Argentina!
Your reaction was so beautiful. Thank you for your vulnerability and openness!
What a show! Great reaction 🤗
I am so glad I stuck it out for your reaction...I almost wrote you off at the beginning...perhaps 3am was exactly the right time for you to take in this message! This is THE song for me...the one that has me sobbing at the end...every time. I listen to this multiple times a week and it slaps me right into sharp and deep perspective. We must strive to remember that despite life's pains and hardships, we're lucky to be here. Never let yourself forget...your life is now changed!
Greetings from Nightwish Army, Palm Springs, CA, USA!
Oh Wow 🤩🤩 these feeling and so much more, its just Incredible, because you have the same feelings I have everyytime I watch and hear their or Floor solo! It's amazing; It's like looping yourself complete! Sometimes I borst in tears and most of the times they give me so much joy and feelings Wich I can't describe and that is why they are for me personnally one of the topband of all time! Thank you do much for your great view! Greetings from Kirsten ( the Netherlands )😇🇳🇱🤘🤘❣
Uma obra prima da arte musical! Sem palavras pela magnitude dessa obra!
Your thoughts were genuine thank you sir keep going down the NIGHT WISH rabbit hole it will keep blowing your mind!!!!
I can only say, you got it. You should just ‘feel’ this song.
Subscribed to follow your Floor/Nightwish journey, enjoy!
Thank you 🙏🏻❤️🔥🇫🇮
Nightwish are life changing. Period. Enjoy your journey, as I did few years ago.
Was great witnessing your journey through this masterpiece. Nightwish still plays an abridged version at their current concerts to then end with a new, but imo even more stellar grand finale: Ad Astra.
Now, to complement the gradualist vision promoted by Dawkins et al. through this song, here's a docu for your kind consideration. To expand your views perhaps some more, an "encore" from the Electric Universe. Check it out, I have a hunch that you'll love it: "Symbols of an Alien Sky (Full Documentary)" - ua-cam.com/video/t7EAlTcZFwY/v-deo.html Cheers from Amsterdam!
Yes, Brendon, the new Ad Astra ending, with Floors last 17sec high note is awesome.
@@ralfmeyer9086 And the ppl at Deichbrand did it right. Finally we can enjoy "Ad Astra" in its entirety at a festival. Jenniezelf's Odysee channel has the whole concert, but I reckon you already knew ;)
@@BrendonChase_2015 Thanks for your info. Greetings from nothern Germany .
I can tell it's not acting. You are a genuinely good person. Thank you!
One of the best GSOE reviews ever! Going to share it on my Facebook page.
I have seen them live and it was the single most amazing concert I have ever seen. This particular piece…words cannot express. I cry every time. If we all lived as this composition makes us feel…only compassion, love and understanding would prevail. Best wishes my friend.
We where here! In all form of this simple words. I can't even say thank you beacause it's kind of spiritual trail with Tuomas composers and Dawkins writers genius. I can't realese how happy i'm what i knew about this people and leave in one period of humankind history with them. Hello with deep respect from NW army Ukraine 🤟
Your reaction sounds like a classic Floorgasm, Nightwish live is awesome!
Symbonic metal. Thanks didn't know what to call it.
What a beautiful, strong and emotional reaction!! Thank you so much🙏
I’have seen this about a hundred times and still get chickenpox.
This is a true Mammoth. The whole Evolution in one song. No other band than Nightwish can or want to do this. The Tampere version is maybe a little more epic than this excellent sold out Wembley arena show with Richard Dawkins. Greetings from Finland! 😎👍
I think most band are scared for conflicts, it don't take much to upset a religious group so they start to burn records.
NW is good enough to calm down believers and make them accept a dust of reality.
@@birrextio6544 Haha, I don't have any contradictions between Evolution and Religion. 😎👍
@@pekkakarppinen1608 You seems to be from Finland (due to your name), you have education there.
I think of people in USA, where teachers get in trouble if they try to learn the students about evolution.
@@birrextio6544 Luckily we don't have any creationism here. I can easily buy a world where "God" has created the whole evolution. Maybe not in seven days, but maybe "God's" days are different than ours. 😎👍
@@pekkakarppinen1608 Well, I don't buy any of the stories but if I did believe it I would never worship a God who torture people in fire for eternal time just for not believing in the same God and the same version of that God.
But I see creationists as the very extreme and hopeless people.
You must listen to this many times to begin to have a feeling that you can understand this composed symphony. Tuomas is a master. You must listen to this played at Tampere where they use fireworks to enhanse the drama.
I understand the breaks! I tend to hold my breath listening to their music, and certainly need to pause once in a while to get some oxygen. Enjoy!
Thank you for this fantastic reaction! Greetings from Vienna. We are waiting more than 2 years to see Nightwish. The show was cancelled 3 times because of Corona... i hope this December we are lucky :)
Do Ayreon, the day that the world breaks down…. And the complete live show. You will love it!!
yours is the most beautiful and sensitive reaction to this and I agree with you and understood what you meant perfectly. all the best to you brother.
Watching you trying to comprehend this song at your first hearing is so funny, because ALL of us felt the same way!
