I spent 10 years in the Marine Corps. I'm an old man and this song made me cry. Anybody not touched emotionally by this song should have their pulse checked. Great reaction.
One of the reasons I return to your channel is how much music moves you. That is what art is supposed to do. Thank you for being courageous and sharing that with us. Pentatonix is a special group and I'm so glad you discovered them. Happy holidays.
Beautiful reaction...you're not alone. Many of us feel the same and aren't we blessed to have these beautiful souls touch our hearts with their voices. Unbelievably gorgeous!!
The majority of reactors have been overwhelmed by this stunning video and I continue to go back for more. I'm right there with you when it comes to being deeply, deeply affected by art in any form. Loved your reaction. Its Christmas day. Nothing has panned out as planned. Home alone. No family in the area. And now Christmas dinner has been canceled. Im watching PTX reactions just to feel something besides hurt and anger. I'm going back to watch you again so Thank You!❤️🩹💚❤️
Completely agree. I think I've watched at least 10 reactions to this video and maybe two reactors have managed to get through it without tearing up. Absolutely one of their masterpieces.
Sorry for your solace, but I want to take these lines to wish you a Merry Christmas and happy holidays through the season. May blessings and joys come to you.
Thank you for being open with us and willing to let us see how much this affected you. I love PTX so much and listen to them whenever I need to get out of my own head. I call it my "mental health" break. Music should move us, connect us and entertain us. PTX certainly does...
Thank you for your honesty, and willingness to share the emotive part of yourself. Many of us who subscribe to your channel feel the same as you...greatly moved by music, no matter what form it comes in. There should never be shame attached to feeling deeply and showing those feelings ( with the exception of destructive emotions and deeds). Those who deem it "unmanly" to be overwhelmed by music or displays of emotion are so wrong. I feel sorry for them, locked inside an ideal of what masculinity is...and the wrong image of themselves and others.
I agree with your whole conversation after the video. I have to say I don't remember ever crying after hearing a song till I started listening to PTX. Imagine had me almost sobbing, this one brings me to tears , Mary Did You Know, and others. So I feel ya. Don't change - I watch to be carried along with you and your heartfelt reactions. And Matt - holy crap. His voice is so smooth and warm, like "butter". Each of them have such different aspects to appreciate: Scott and his runs and the grit he's been adding recently, Mitch and his smooth, crystal clear notes, Kirstin with her belting notes and vibrato, and Matt with all that warmth. Put them together with the talented percussion of Kevin and it's an unbeatable team. But this song......man, it's a remake of their own version of years ago, and once again, it's an upgrade! There's a newly released video interview with Matt by podcaster Peter Barber (bass singer & reactor) and Matt talks about how he came to join PTX, what it's like to work with them, how they work on arranging music, etc. It's an informative interview and gives a chance to see Matt in a more personal way. ua-cam.com/video/FKMNgBSYS_E/v-deo.html
Sweetie! That what music is supposed to do. It makes you feel. Whether the music is happy or sad it brings emotions out of all of us...unless you are a psychopath. Anyone telling you that you are not manly...ppfft! They are inhuman. Everyone has feelings and it's okay. I cry every time I hear this song by PTX. Having feeling shows you are human. Nothing wrong with that. Something is wrong if you don't feel anything. PTX has never sounded so good!! I'm so obsessed with them. Matt just takes off!!! They just get better and better. Thank you for sharing your reaction reaction with us. Great job as usual. Sending love to you from Texas
You don't need to justify ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!! We are all here for the same thing. It's passion, kiddo....you can't stop it. Pentatonix has it in abundance. Just gotta hang on and enjoy it!!!!
There are no words in any language that can describe the beauty of this performance. This was just transcendent. This was not a Wall of Sound, this was an Avalanche or a Tsunami.
Appreciate your honesty on your experience. I felt same way and even after many times seeing people react to this song still feel same watching it. Special performance for sure. Thx
My husband is the most sensitive, emotional man I know. At least I think so because he shows his emotion. He gets teary eyed a lot! I apologized to him for his Christmas present days before he opened it. I didn't think it would mean much to him, but, boy, I was wrong..............he cried! As a former college football player, he is not small, and also the strongest man I know. I am glad that you are transparent with your emotions. Pentatonix has also brought tears to my husband's eyes as well.
I cried too….they just get ya dude…..especially if you’re into music. I’ve been singing since age 8….still singing- these humans just get me with their arrangements.❤😊🎶❤️
"The man that hath no music in himself, Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds, Is fit for treasons, stratagems and spoils; The motions of his spirit are dull as night And his affections dark as Erebus: Let no such man be trusted. Mark the music." -- Shakespeare
What a great and genuine reaction. I so appreciate you allowing yourself to be vulnerable and authentic with this particular song by Pentatonix. Their performance of this beautiful song, touches my soul every time I hear it, and it was obvious that it did the same for you. May God bless you as you have blessed us your listeners.
Music is supposed to make you feel something!!! This is stunning, and it brings me to tears every time I listen to it!!!! I love your reaction . Merry Christmas ❤
Best version ever. Chills and goosebumps every single time- and I’ve probably listened to it about 100 times. Are you serious that someone said, don’t have emotion because it isn’t “manly”??? Wow. That’s is extremely sad. Showing emotion is necessary and healthy!! Thanks for sharing your opinion, your emotion and your heart. ❤💚
Be a musician/writer myself-it affects me the same way. There are some genres I stay away from because it to me is that it causes stress, nervousness, and just negativity. I love Pentatonix-they affect me in their songs-happy, playful, emotional, thought-provoking, amazed how they do mash-ups, etc. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL! REMEMBER
Thank-you for your videos and sharing your love of music. I'm glad to know you enjoyed and were moved by PTX' rendition of Oh Holy Night. Merry Christmas to you and those near you!
Love your reactions. I've watched several reactions to this and, frankly I'm disappointed when they aren't emotionally touched by this performance. I'm not religious either, but grew up much the same as you described. I applaud your courage in your reaction.
I've heard this so many times, am an utter heathen and yet I still tear up and have chills hearing it. Such an amazing arrangement. Probably my favourite Pentatonix performance
His name is Matt. He’s the bass of the group. He’s my second favorite voice of the group with the first being Mitch. Mitch’s voice is just so pure and unique. You don’t hear voices like his often but I agree Matt us incredible too.
I love your reactions because music moves you so deeply!! Please don’t try to change that passion and enjoyment that you are feeling and expressing! Hope your holidays are full of JOY!! ❤
Showing feelings openly and living them out requires a lot of courage. You are brave because you share your feelings with us. First of all, thank you for that. Good music should touch everyone deep inside. Then it can take us into worlds we don't yet know. And then nationality, religion or ideology no longer plays a role. Music like this can only do one thing: connect us.
One of the most exquisite traits of your reactions, especially to PTX, is that it isn't always about the production values of the song, but the song itself. You close your eyes, just like I do, because their music is not "just" music. Like all good or great art, there is no "just" involved. I have sung this song so many times in my professional career, and know that I never could have come close to this! So keep that truth in your reactions. I look forward to hearing more in 2024!
I couldn't agree with you more. I feel the same way every time. They don't just sing these songs. They feel the music and know how to make sure that we feel it as well. Thank you so much for sharing your feelings with us.
Thank you so much for sharing that little piece of your past with us, bro. My history with this song was midnight mass, Christmas Eve. My dad was in our church choir, and their last piece at midnight every year was “O Holy Night”. The choral arrangement was written by our organist, who also happened to be my piano teacher for 7 years (ages 5-12), and he was a Peabody graduate. That arrangement never failed to blow the roof off the place. This is the one Christmas hymn that always hits me the hardest, and PTX did not disappoint. Anyway, that’s my personal history with this one. I hope that you had an awesome Christmas this year, my friend, and thank you again for showcasing this amazing arrangement of a song that means so much to so many. 🤘🏾
I love your honest and emotional reactions 💕 PTX has really shown their musical maturity in this performance. This song is beautifully done and just brings out chills and strong emotions. They feel what they sing. 💕💕💕💕
What a lovely expression of emotion. This song makes me cry and I was was so united with you in that moment of genuine humanity. Have a superb 2024.🎉🎉🎉
I never hesitate to laugh, nor do I hesitate to cry. Your reaction literally just brought tears to my eyes. Like you, PTX has the ability to bring my entire body to a tingle. The Prayer and now Oh Holy Night are 2 of their upgrades that never fail me!
Music to me is there to make you feel something, so I feel a sadness for those who cannot feel the music like many of us do!! I adore your reactions and that you show how you feel is authentic and beautiful! Happy Holidays!! 🎄
I totally agree with you. Things touch people differently and there should be no shame towards anyone in how music touches them. I personally can’t see how anyone can listen to this and watch the passion in how it is being performed and not be moved. Thank you for your comments and your reaction to this. Merry Christmas!
You are not the only one who was blown away by this. It got a million UA-cam views in the first week. I've appreciated your Christmas Day PTX reactions. I'm spending Christmas alone this year, so you made my day a little bit brighter. Thanks ! And if you are looking for a New Year's reaction, I recommend Pentatonix's original song "New Year's Day". Here's a good live performance from Carson Daly's 2016 New Year's Eve broadcast (FYI - it starts with a one-minute interview where PTX members share some New Year's thoughts) --ua-cam.com/video/ukTGKGe1cHg/v-deo.html
I had the privilege of seeing PTX in concert in Hershey on December 7, and their live performances of all of the newly-released videos (Pure Imagination, Please Santa Please, O Holy Night, and Kiss From a Rose) were just as spectacular as you would imagine. By the end of O Holy Night, so many people around me had been moved to tears, just as you were. 🙏🏼 🎶🥰
I attended their last show in Austin Texas. Tickets were a Christmas gift from my son who attended along w my husband. Simply stunning show! But unless I totally missed it they did not perform oh holy night which was a disappointment. Anyone out there attend the austin tx concert that noticed that it was not sung?
Music should touch our souls, and make us feel something. This song is so beautiful. I get chills every time I listen to it, and definitely feel emotional. I appreciate that you show your emotions. That's the beauty of humanity. Have a wonderful day!
Thank you for sharing! I have listened to this at least 100 times by now, probably more. I cry every time. This song also has sentimental meaning from my childhood and has always been my favorite Christmas song. PTX made this so beyond beautiful with their voices but also with all the love and emotion they put into their music. I hope they can vet a Grammy for this one. Just stunning!
That's how this song makes me feel. It's so beautiful makes me cry to.i love music to. I have both sides of my family who are very talented. Grew up with it.
I do love to see how music moves you. Being authentic is a powerful act of courage in this world. Maybe your example will make some question why it makes them uncomfortable and move forward feeling empowered.
I share your same feelings and emotions. Music (sound, voice, frequency, vibrations) helped create the universe. The divine universe is within you. Think about that for a moment ❤
You are the first reactor who has stated exactly how it feels when it comes to music. Music can reach into my heart and uplift it, and find hope in the darker parts in my heart. I cannot begin to tell you how many times tears fall down my cheeks when listening to what I call “a joyous noise”. Quite often with Pentatonix I feel the music so intensely that I have no choice but to let it out in tears of happiness and wonderment. I’ve been a fan of theirs since The Sing Off, and have followed them since. I had some things going on in my life that made me unable to follow them as intently for a couple of years, but that only made reuniting with them all that much sweeter, as I was able to binge on a lot of their material. Certain songs always, always, make me tear up ( Light in the Hallway, Hallelujah, Imagine ) no matter how many times I hear them. Anyways sorry, started rambling there. I have subbed you, and I feel so good doing so because I think you and I are cut from that same piece of cloth, on the same page so to speak. I look forward to your next reactions both to Pentatonix and any other group/artist you want to react to. Thanks again for making me feel like I’m not alone in the way I react to music!
I loved your reaction🫶🏻 Your words were meaningful and beautiful 🙏 Thank you ☺️ I have listened to this PTX songs many times since it came out and their voices and emotion get me every time!
I am not a religious person, either, but this song is my very favorite Christmas song, and this is my favorite rendition. Thank you for your beautiful reaction!
I appreciate your authenticity. Thank you for clarifying how you experience music. Music affects many of us emotionally, including me. Keep on being your authentic self.
I love your reaction! I have watched many reactions on UA-cam and Everyone has expressed much the same way this song affected them to the core. I agree this may be their absolute best rendition from PTX! Matt and Kirsty really got me in the feels, everytime.
Sometimes there are just two bars of music that are so exquisite it physically pulls the tears from my eyes. Music is a huge part of what I am and there is nothing I can do to prevent it (even if I wanted to). The composer Bernard Herrmann composed an opera, "Wuthering Heights." Cathy sings an aria called, "I Have Dreamt." Near the end you'll find two such. It almost hurts it's so beautiful. There's a spiritual called, "The Water is Wide," that's sung by Jubilant Sykes with Chris Parkening. Jubilant sings a measure that, the first time I heard it driving home from the record producer's office, made me cry uncontrollably. Or Händel's, "Arrival of the Queen of Sheba." The joy I feel any time I hear it... Sorry not sorry.
I am right with you. I usually listen to PTX songs as soon as I know they are released. I didn't with this one for some reason. Busy Christmas season I guess. Then I listened to it. I was stunned with my jaw to the floor and tears in the eyes. I agree, this one just hit differently. Scott was well Scott. Mitch's smooth notes. Matt. Wow! He got to shine here. He can saaang! Then Kirstie. What an ending. I absolutely love her vibrato. And that climb at the end cutting to silence. Stunning. One of their best, which is amazing to be able to say that at this point.
Not being manly? What’s that about? I’ve watched this a number of times this week and I end up in tears each time. I feel it just the way you do and I feel no shame admitting it. That belt from the Queen and the Mattamorphosis? I’ll happily bawl my eyes out! Thanks for sharing. Much love from South Africa.
I, for one, am glad that you show how much music moves you. What you said about our culture shaming for loving things....that moved me too. I appreciate you. I agree about Matt's voice, BTW. It makes me so happy to have been able to experience both Matt and Avi as parts of PTX. Avi can be enjoyed in older PTX and is now one of my very favorite solo artists, and Matt's beautiful voice can be heard in more recent PTX.
God love you for reveling in your love of music! Love the tangent, thanks for sharing that with all of us. Sending you a great big hug for the holidays. I love this version, too, and I loved experiencing your reaction with you. Peace …
so manly man are actually scared and insecure how other people might think about them LOL. i like to see genuine people who are NOT AFRAID to show their emotions if they are moved by a masterpiece like this. i smiled when you got somewhat of a grip on your emotions just seconds before Kirstens epic belt at the end. PTX has a way of picking you up and dropping you and picking you up and dropping you again. Sublime rollercoaster that gets me everytime .
First time on your channel, dis already checked out your reaction from a year before. Love your channel. Another Pentaholic. Greetings from South Africa
I don't know how anyone could listen to this and not be moved in some way. They put so much power and emotion into this. It is simply stunning!!
Matt Sellee is the bass singer
Matt and Kirstie were the heroes of this performance. We can stop with the ‘Matt’s great, but…’ Avi comparisons now. 😂😂
Exactly!1
THIS, thank you
The majority of reactors have been overwhelmed by this stunning video and I continue to go back for more. I'm right there with you when it comes to being deeply, deeply affected by art in any form. Pentatonix take us straight to heaven
Thank you for being open with us and willing to let us see how much this affected you. I love PTX so much and listen to them whenever I need to get out of my own head. I call it my "mental health" break. Music should move us, connect us and entertain us. PTX certainly does...
you are not alone in being moved by music. i have seen so many reactors react to this song and it still makes me choke up at the end. Merry Christmas!
made me cry too. its just absolutely beautiful and incredibly moving.
His name is Matt

This song is so incredibly beautiful. It is a visceral reaction each time I hear it! And I am not very religious either. It is just gorgeous.❤💚❤💚❤

You be you. I loved your reaction to this song. PTX has been crazy good this holiday season. Four songs released and each as good as the last.
Preach it!!!! If you’re not feeling, you’re not living.
❤loved your reaction,no need to apologize for having feelings and being vulnerable. Love that about you🥰
Matt; Pure vocal magic, it touches the soul on this one. Reactors and listeners everywhere have had these same powerful emotions. Enjoyed this man!
I cried to, its so good! They have really grown. They are on a whole new level! Best Acapella group of all....
A masterpiece!!!
This song for me is a spiritual experience!!! ❤
Showing feelings openly and living them out requires a lot of courage. You are brave because you share your feelings with us. First of all, thank you for that. Totally get it…it’s so beautiful it’s overwhelming.

Thank you so much for sharing that little piece of your past with us, bro. My history with this song was midnight mass, Christmas Eve.
It is not just another song. Never be ashamed of expressing your emotions. It shows your love love for humanity, and all that is good!😊
What a lovely expression of emotion. This song makes me cry and I was was so united with you in that moment of genuine humanity. Have a superb 2024.🎉🎉🎉
I’m right there with ya…tears! Merry Christmas 6:51
I never hesitate to laugh, nor do I hesitate to cry. Your reaction literally just brought tears to my eyes. Like you, PTX has the ability to bring my entire body to a tingle. The Prayer and now Oh Holy Night are 2 of their upgrades that never fail me!
"O Holy Night" is my favorite Christmas song. Pentatonix has now made my favorite version of the song and video. Thank you for the reaction.
Music to me is there to make you feel something, so I feel a sadness for those who cannot feel the music like many of us do!! I adore your reactions and that you show how you feel is authentic and beautiful! Happy Holidays!! 🎄
This is exactly why I love your reactions. A man with emotions is a MAN. Greetings from South Africa
Expressing your emotions makes you human, never change 🥰
Wonderful reaction and commentary. Thank you.
I totally agree with you. Things touch people differently and there should be no shame towards anyone in how music touches them. I feel this song this deeply every time, thank you for sharing your true humanness
Chills all the way through! Matt unleashed: a Mattamorphosis!
Lovely beyond words❤Great reaction❤I love all of PTX so much❤❤❤❤❤
Music should touch our souls, and make us feel something. This song is so beautiful. I get chills every time I listen to it, and definitely feel emotional. I appreciate that you show your emotions. That's the beauty of humanity. Have a wonderful day!
I love your emotions....anyone who hears this song and doesn't feel the heavenly meaning of this song, i pray they might listen to it again.

Same thing happens every time I watch reactions 2 😭💕🙏🏼🎶this song.
They all have great voices but I think Kirstie's may be the best for a full belt; no distortion and wonderful control.
No shame here. loved your reaction of pure love and emotion.
It’s stunning and beautiful!! Thanks for reacting!! Merry Christmas!!
I had same reaction. Is sounds so beautiful you cant contain yourself. This song really hit me to.
I loved your reaction🫶🏻 Your words were meaningful and beautiful 🙏 Thank you ☺️
I have listened to this PTX songs many times since it came out and their voices and emotion get me every time!
You NEED to see the video version of this. It adds a lot of extra dimensions.
I am not a religious person, either, but this song is my very favorite Christmas song, and this is my favorite rendition. Thank you for your beautiful reaction!
I will seldomly get as emotional from music as you and several other reactors do and that is something that I envy you.
Great reaction. I love people who are moved by these guys. I love sharing the emotions as people experience something I also love.
PTX! TOUCHED BY ANGELS.
Love your reaction. Keep going down the PTX rabbit hole.
What a beautiful reaction ❤
Thanks 🥰
Be true to yourself, it's the only way. Love Your reaction!
I appreciate your authenticity. Thank you for clarifying how you experience music. Music affects many of us emotionally, including me. Keep on being your authentic self.
I have the same emotional reaction to amazing music such as this 🥺
I'm right there with you. Spectacular performance!
They took us to church!!!!!
I wish I could give you more than one like. You be you.
💖💖👍
BEAUTIFUL xx
