We have organ music and choir at Mass. Many songs over the church seasons and years. But every time this song comes up, I perk up a bit more than usual and really wondered about it. I don't recall it from my younger days, but I finally figured it out about a year ago that it was written by St. Thomas Aquinas 750 years ago.

It was beautifully made by a Dominican nun writer, and it is the most loved chant for Eucharistic adoration. But despite it's beauty of speach, provoking misunderstandings in crucial ceremonies, might not be a good choice. Furthermore some guests will be English speaking. Yes, I actually started singing for the Daily TV Mass in 2005, if you can believe it! You mentioned that you were a Sacristan, I was as well! Actually the first full-time female Sacristan at the Cathedral. One day the cantor didn't show up for Daily TV Mass, so I told the director that I could do it. They had to trust me, having never heard me sing before! And thus it began, the "KT Origin Story", LOL. Being a Sacristan was a wonderful boost for my faith as well. Like you, participating at Mass multiple times a day, meeting priests from all over, helping make sure liturgies run smoothly. That's actually how I heard about the Magnifical missal, as Rev. Peter Cameron (former Editor in Chief) came to celebrate Mass there one day and gave me a copy. Thank you for all of your thoughtful comments, Jim. They are insightful and kind.
