These key fobs have to be the biggest rip-off in automotive history. How such a small circuit board can cost so much defies common sense. Then the price of having a dealer program it is another thing all together.. another rip-off. I realize you can program it yourself, but you only get one shot at it to get it right, then in renders the fob useless after that. Why is it that you can buy a universal tv remote pretty cheap, are able to program it yourself (and do it more than once if you make a mistake), but not so with the key fob? They basically do the same thing.. send a signal to another device.
In my 2012 Grand Cherokee, those other buttons might actually work if you place the extra metal “thingies” that make contact with the board, even if not marked on the actual key fob. I found out because one of those “thingies” got loose and into one of the other contacts and started opening the trunk glass (2012 Laredo X model). I changed so many batteries before figuring out what was the real problem. SMH 🤦♂️. Great video!
Omg I just bought a new key fob at dealership for 250 and then had to have it programmed for another 80 dollars. So costs me 330 bucks and I could have fixed it for 9 dollars. I’m vivid. Thanks for sharing. Smh should have come to UA-cam first. My trunk was doing the same then my door kept locking after I unlocked up. So if I used my actual key to get in the alarm would go off till I got in and out the key back together and put into car to start it. After a day of that I went directly to dealer so I should have waited. You think dealer would if told me that no way. So upset at them.
Hi I took my Dart to a key man to make me more keys than my car did not want to start with any key came key man came back said he couldn't find anything wrong with it this morning not any of the keys he fixed work not one key worked
That’s a tough one, on my first attempt I tried using some superglue, but that wasn’t very flexible. I ended up trying some stuff called “shoe goo” as that remains flexible. Ultimately though I ended up finding that key fob case that included the new buttons and did this video. Gluing those little metal domes back in place worked for a week or so then would fail again.
Thank you soooooo much just got my dart three days ago and the unlock stopped working yesterday morning dodge quoted me 200+ and would need my car for 3 days
You could also have glued on the buttons with eyelash bond and good as new. The eyelash bond is strong and flexible enough to work with the rubber of the fob
Thanks so much for your video. I was stressed about mine still not working after replacing the battery and all I had to do was move the rubber piece for my unlock button
Both my key fobs don't work and after seeing this. I'll try this first before ordering through dealerships which are 190 a key fob! If this works for mine, which I hope so, I hope it works!
That was great info. Worked on my 2016 ram truck. Bought two aftermarket keys cheap off ebay and was drowning in the reprograming task. Peeled off the little contact disks from new key and matched it on old key. Both original keyfobs now work.
I went to grab the link, but it looks like they've changed the price to $950... Your best best is to search for year, make and model of the car. Pay close attention to the button layout. To my eye, that fob is used for a lot of Dodge models in that era.
Dude.. I was just quoted $200 for a new fob yesterday! Thank you! I can buy a new fob, swap out the board and be good to go!

Outstanding! Thanks for sharing. Great fix for my 2014 Dart! Thanks!
You're welcome!
omg you saved me like $200. Key fob unlock button wasn’t working but I had a replacement key fob already and it worked!
Exact same!!!
Yeah,I've been locked out several times. Had to go through the trunk before.
On the battery section, I meant to say negative, not positive :) There's plenty of symbols to install the battery correctly.
SAVED ME ALMOST $500, forget the dealership and listen to Luke FIRST
i appreciate it you just saved me money. my unlock wasn't working
You're welcome, I'm glad it worked!
Did not work
Hi I took my Dart to a key man to make me more keys than my car did not want to start with any key came key man came back said he couldn't find anything wrong with it this morning not any of the keys he fixed work not one key worked
Bought one. The car starts but it wont lock, unlock or panic
Solution works and is quick and easy 👍
Thanks!
I did it and I don’t think it works for 2013 Dodge Dart
Do you have a link ? I need the button portion of the remote only the unlock works
What kind of glue would you recommend me using to put sensors back in place ?

Great video, it's a shame I left my key with the locksmith yesterday, he charged me $270 and even then he said it probably won't fix it.
Update? Is this still working good?
Still working great, the car is my daily driver so it gets used quite a bit.

I accidentally removed the emergency key lock mechanism and it flew apart and now I can't figure out how to put it back in.
I have the random trunk opening problem, too! Thank you!
My key fob flipped out I put the key in the ignition and it says key fob damaged 😢
Oh wow I am trying this and will update.
just got today and works perfect 2013 dart
I swapped out still didn’t work
Thanks for this!
You're welcome!
Thanks so much !

Did it work
Thank you very much it helped a lot to me

That's awesome! Dealers charge so much for new fobs and programming and often it's not needed.
Do u have the eBay link?
