I love that you’re at Mount Bachelor in your videos, because after over a decade riding there as my homebase I always know exactly where you are on the mountain when I see your clips haha
Sweeeeet so excited for this! Edit: Nice, glad you liked it, been debating getting one of these bad boys for a year now since I first heard of Stranda. I held off since I'm having so much fun with my project X (and it's several years worth of snowboards $$ wise 😅) but I forsee a descender in my future sometime.
Both are great boards and very similar. I like the Flagshihp better in pow with the set back inserts and spoon nose/tail. I like the Descender better on groomers because it doesn't have the spoon tech and has more camber. It's a real tossup.
I bought that board in 166, my weight is 200lbs and I found it easy to ride for that length. The board is very sharp from the factory and the edge hold on hard/icy snow is very good. It’s light and poppy but very stable at the same time. Nice deck 🤙
I am 183cm and my boots are 10.5 us. The Descender 166 have 1298mm of effective edge and with the power bumps it’s make a very good option for hardpack.
Have one that Davey was going to ride but he got injured right before it arrived and he couldn't test it. We still have it so Davey and I will ride it when the snow is good enough for testing this coming season.
Thanks for a great review. Sizing Please, 165lbs, 9.5 US,, 177cm high. I want to use this board as my pow/carving board. Want to charge through crappy snow and carve aggressively. I am currently riding a PYL Uninc 155 for that purpose, but I found it too short for pow-float and was missing an effective edge.
Thanks for the good words. Yeah the 158 or 162 would be a good fit for you but it's a very different ride. It's not as turny as the PYL Uninc. If that appeals to you go for it. I'd say go 158 if you want more control and 162 if you want more speed/float/carving power. The 158 will feel marginally better than the 155 PYL Uninc and the 162 will feel significantly better.
Yo man ! Soo good to see such a professional review of a little known brand's board :) Thank you for your work. Any plan of having your hands on their carving boards such the Cheater ? See ya
Many thanks! Sorry but not any time soon. Hoping to get on the Cheater first snow fall 2024 but probably won't get a review up till early to mid-winter. I got on this, the Biru, Makrill and Tree Surfer. Those are coming soon.
I've had Biru 54 since last year and it's absolutely amazing! Thinking about buying a Tree Surfer 62 for powder this year. Very interested in your opinion about it

I ride the Descender 166 with a massive 27,3 cm waist but still playful, (im 183cm 75kg US 9,5 boots) hauls ass and carves deep, good pop.
That much be a rocket for you. Thanks for your take.

Great review! I was considering the Flagship, but now this has my attention.

Could it be that Stranda is the new black in snowboarding? Excellent review, James!
Hyping up stranda and cardiff 🫶

Thanks for your take but what is your boot size and height. Knowing all three helps us much better understand your perspective.
