I've switched from Capita Mercury to Yes Stadard Uninc as my daily driver single board. I ride a lot in icy conditions at the Europe's most southern resort. And I like it much more than Mercury because of traditional camber and much better bite on ice and hard-packed snow. Also 153cm Yes Standard Uninc feels slightly softer than 157cm Mercury. Great content and informative review! Riding 2025 alchemist in 160. Switched after totaling my 2024 flagship pro 161. 185 pounds, size 9 boot, usually ride with dakine vest that adds 15 pounds (backcountry safety equipment). Goofy stance +18, -6, 22 width, utilizing .75 setback incorporated into board design. Board is a rocket ship and nothing is more fun to ride hard and fast. Had about 10 perfect days on it until Day 4 of heli trip with Great Canadian in BC. I was too gassed for my typical aggressive style of riding and style required to enjoy the board to full potential. Temps were also super cold -10F. Had just gotten a new wax job 3 days prior. All the speed and maneuverability seemed to disappear with serious cold. Sticky and slow on the flats (had to use collapsible poles to navigate in flats which is a first for me in downhill situation). Maybe would have been different if I was well rested and riding normally but the extreme cold seem to significantly change board performance, style, feel in powder but especially in tree traverse. Performance was fine when straight lining pillows. Does this have to do with new space tech materials? Other ideas? I’d like this board to be my backcountry daily driver but maybe need to bring out another option in similar conditions when I’m not riding at 100%. Other options in quiver are flagship pro 2025 164, jones project x 159, stratos split 159, Cardiff crane 162. I had stratos split with me on the trip. Prob should have used that last day but didn’t want to sacrifice performance in pillows with a split board. Any thoughts or suggestions ? Appreciate you! 🙏🏻

Hey Tribute, great video! Would love to hear your thoughts on Stranda snowboards. Perhaps for your carving episode? Great freeriding boards, getting well recognized in Europe Thanks
I'm curious as to what makes you guys like wide's so much. I am a bigger guy 6'2" 210-220 depending on fitness and have a size 10 boot. I've never ridden a wide as I always just figured my feet weren't big enough to warrant a wide board. Also, for the Mega Death, Capita recommends the 161W for up to 210 lbs and the 162 for 210+ (only .5cm wider on the 61W). I found a deal on a 161W from last year and am considering picking it up. Do you know what changed between last year and this year? I heard it is a bit thicker core?
Looking forward to the eventual carving video as I'll be in the market for one probably next season. Though I do hope it's more focused on boards designed primarily for carving and not all-mountain boards that carve well.
Shout out to my local hill, Seymour. Tony should do a demo day at seymour *hint hint* instead of only cypress. Will look into the kazu once my jones explorer needs to be replaced. Got a nidecker beta apx in 162 end of last season, can’t wait to use it in the B.C.interior this season. It was so much fun when i demoed it at ScrApex. Got beta over alpha for more snow surfing and groomer carving. Love all the tribute videos, learned so much from you guys. Can’t wait to come back to Nelson one of these days to visit the tribute shop.
Love your guys's videos, been watching for the last few years! I'm an advanced boarder and am coming from an older board (Ride Society 160). I'm an advanced rider, I'm 5'8 fluctuate between 180 -185lbs and I'm a size 9 boot. Our family mostly ride at Big White, but try to get out to neighbouring ski hills, your local hill is such a great resort! I'm going to purchase a Capita Kazu, but trying to decide on either the 157 or 160 length. I will also be purchasing the Union Falcor binding. I have a 21-21.5 inch width stance and my concern is that if I go with the 160 that I won't be able to use the inserts that are located towards the back of the board as the board has a 23" reference stance...I'm also concerned that the 157 is at the threshold of its weight range of 190lb that's listed on Capital's website. BTW great shop you guys have in Nelson! Looking forward to your future content, very informative and helpful! Cheers!
Hi guys!! Thanks for all the info. Trying to pick one of these boards you listed in the video. I’m in process of updating my snowboard equipment (long overdue) I was a competitive surfer but I foresee myself doing more and more snowboarding. I’m probably a solid intermediate focused on carving / pow / side hits / no park. 5’10 180lbs 10.5 boots cheers 🤙🤙
With a size 12 boot , I must ride a 27,5 waist width if I don’t want to boot out on deep heel side carves. So my daily driver is a 161 Gnu Gremlin ! Mark gives it a great review in 2023 in the 155 size .
@@Riders_Loungelove your work guys ! Keep it going, I have been following you since the beginning and I have been a fan of Mark in his alpine years ! I actually meet him in the Gorge for a very brief moment . Kudos for your work and thank you !
Anything new can be difficult and intimidating, but the reward is well worth the risk in my opinion! The best thing you can do is rent a board and take a lesson so that you’re in good hands and a controlled, safe environment. I’ve seen people 55+ learning to snowboard and it’s inspiring!
Learning curve is hard at 1st then everything clicks, took me a couple seasons to progress but love it now. Invest in wrist protectors and a good butt pad shorts for the 1st 2 seasons or so. Definitely broke my tailbone my 1st season. Started at 43, 47 now and love it more and more each season.
There are safe ways to ride and risky ways. Learn to fall safely, stay away from the park at that age, and know your limits, and it's fairly safe, I would say much safer than skiing. Definitely wear extra padding when you're learning the first few days because you will fall a lot
Extra $200 for megadeath is playing down the cost quite a bit. $1000 USD is easily $500 more than many other boards. Especially when you lead the vid with a capita plug, we get it but not everyone got that kinda dough
I can justify a high price for a high performance lightweight board which is approachable for most riders. But from what I’ve heard, it’s far from durable. Capita earned the Snapita rebrand before they introduced this lightweight “Ferrari.” I foresee many angry customers who were told the MegaDeath “could be used as a daily.”
Picked up a Mercury 158w with the cool 23er topsheet last year for 400 bucks in Switzerland. The 23, 24, and now 25 all have the same construction, just different graphics. Love it 🖤🤍 Cheers from Switzerland
Kazu is pronounced Ka-zoo!” It’s not pronounced “kaaaaa-zoo.” The Kazu wins on the best graphics. The rival on best graphics, i feel, is the Libtech Retro Ripper for the past two years. The dragon in the water for the 23-24, and Japanese lady with the Samurai Sword on the 22-23, were the best i have seem, art wise. Great video, great banter between the two. Good job!
If yall would let me give some feedback, as a viewer itd be great if you used youtubes chapter feature. You give really great insights on every board but as a viewer I generally make a decision before you finish, and its then kinda annoying to find when you start talking about the next board. Great insights thought, thanks for the video
There's no need to change. 🤷🏾 There was an instructor with years and years of experience and he had a Yes Basic. It depends how you want to ride, but also what terrain that you actually get to ride on. For example, when I was a beginner, I wanted to ride like Antti Autti, Todd Richards, Nicolas Muller and Terje. But in reality, I was limited to indoor riding and on piste once per year, in weak snow conditions😢. Now that I've made those mistakes, I'd say get your feet measured in a boardshop and find boots that are 100% suited to your foot shape. Then ask the store person to match those to boards and bindings that are suitable to how you ride the most. Buying based on UA-cam videos and then finding out that you have overhang and toe/heel drag, is demoralising.
They said don't get hung up on the weight ranges, not that it doesn't matter. It's a combination of all 3: weight, boot size, height. Height especially matters if you're not of "average" build. For riders that are tall and lanky, or short and heavier, they could easily be misled by just reading the weight ranges for a board.
What board would you recommend for someone confident on smaller hills but moving to Big White for the season. 15 Days on the board, 6 foot 220 lbs size 10.5 US Foot
Problem I’m finding is height and weight for boards. I’m 5’6” and 160lbs, maybe 175 with gear etc) and my centre to centre on bindings is 520mm. Most boards I’m finding at the 150-152 etc are wider stance of 540 min and can’t go more to rear without stretching out more than I’d like. 🤷♂️ Riding arbor formula rocker last couple of years and not loving it really Ideas ?
Great video, thank you! I may be wrong but when you talk about the GNU and show a rider in a red jacket (Mark, I think), the rider looks like he is actually riding the Megadeath (until you get to the pow rider in the green jacket). Either way, keep making these great videos!!
Amazing reviews! For the kazu, how did you guys ride it? More centered at reference stance or more setback ? Also better with posi posi or duck with it you reckon for the mountain? I normally ride posi posi with my dart or stranda biru but obviously fairly different boards. Appreciate your opinion 👌
I mean they’re not one of the biggest, but most of the biggest are more conservative with their geo and have slightly steeper headtube angles. Maybe Specialized?
Hey guys, thanks so much for these reviews. Love your content, really informative. I have a question: I'm normally riding a Burton Deep Thinker as my daily on the slopes and in the park. I am looking for a second board which will serve as a "resort rider" on days when I wanna charge all throughout my resort or on days when there's fresh pow and have been looking at the Kazu (I have to admit Im a sucker for those graphics too). So would this board be suitable for me? Im an expert rider and teach youth/kids at my local. I've never really paid much attention to the gear I ride though, but as I can afford it for the first time in my life I'm considering getting two boards. Looking at the Capita site, I am having a hard time choosing what size to get and what the benefits/downsides in getting the wide version are? Is it only related to the size of my feet or are there other things to consider? I am 177 cm (5'10 I believe), weigh between 85-90 kg (187-198 lbs), my Mondo foot size is 26.7 and I ride Burton Ions in size 8.5.
Hi! at a 8.5 you can stay with the standard and not need to go wide - 157cm will suite you perfect and its one of our favorite to date!! ( longer is ok too if you feel you will have 50% of the days on powder ! )
I have listened to your reviews from the last couple years but haven't picked anything up in a couple of years. I charge down Minnesota hills weekly and travel out west a couple times a year. I would really like to explore a board that can be fun on my home hill, mostly carving up short -fast groomers at home but would also expand my riding and translate to my mountain days. Is there any certain board you would suggest? I'm 5'11, 220 lbs, size 11 boot. Keep up the reviews, I can't wait for the season!
You guys mention that some of these boards offer "wide options" -- as a newer boarder what is the benefit of a wider board and how do you know if you should opt for one?
I am about 6ft 175lbs, size 11 boot, and I cannot decide between the 160W or the 163W Banked Country. I primarily ride in VT where the o lay powder I see is usually in the woods. My current boards are 2013 Burton Sherlock 157 and a 2021 Ride Warpig 148. I’m leaning towards the 163W but I’m worried it may be too large, any advice?

Prob should have used that last day but didn’t want to sacrifice performance in pillows with a split board. Any thoughts or suggestions ?
Appreciate you! 🙏🏻
Picked a Korua T Finder.. it’s sick👌🏽
How does it do in park lol
Just got back into boarding after almost 25 years and my research lead me to a t-rice pro. Lol always bummed when I don't see it on these lists.
@@TheAbilities its a pretty specific board , there are better ones out there if you plan on just having one … if you plan to have a dew then this can fall into the All Mountain in your quiver , but its stiff and hi performance ! Be on your game with thst one ! We find a lot of people will appreciate an Orca as well , check that out also
that's really interesting about the magnetraction on the BNKD Country. ever since experimenting with my 1st mervin board way back when (a 2010 skate bannana that i bought at Rossland) I've taken a stone and ground down the front half of my magnetraction edges and blended it back to release the front but keep the bite at the rear
Ahead of the industry!
Hey Tribute, great video!
Would love to hear your thoughts on Stranda snowboards. Perhaps for your carving episode?
Great freeriding boards, getting well recognized in Europe
Thanks
Guys please can we have a review of the Kazu 2025🙏🙏 love watching your contents from France
Yes please do!
Can’t wait to see the freestyle boards!
I dont know guys but am in love with my Gril Master 😂
We added that one to the "freeride" category !
@@sandkatt that will be the plan !
@@sandkatt You reminded me that I miss the Nidecker Tracer, hahaha. That thing did one thing, and one thing only; but holy crap it carved trenches.
I don't care. Freecarver is coming home this year 😆Crazy how smooth that thing rides!
Dam man, I was set on buying the jones frontier but you guys have throw that out the window 😂
I wish they made a Megadeath in smaller size. The lightweights want one too!
@@jimminyjillikers thanks for the support homie !!! Be sure to come hang when you Visit Nelson!
Fawcett, do you like the Kazu or Banked Country more for carving and general resort freeriding?

Korua Dart for pow & Chamonix Route for all mountain .... hands down
With a size 12 boot , I must ride a 27,5 waist width if I don’t want to boot out on deep heel side carves. So my daily driver is a 161 Gnu Gremlin ! Mark gives it a great review in 2023 in the 155 size .
@@martinbailly573 we LOvE that board !
@@Riders_Loungelove your work guys ! Keep it going, I have been following you since the beginning and I have been a fan of Mark in his alpine years ! I actually meet him in the Gorge for a very brief moment . Kudos for your work and thank you !
Better question is you're at the resort for 1 week. Couple pow days to start then sunny days and ending on hard pack on day 6 and 7. What board?
Fawcett and I both went for the Capita Kazu as our daily driver this year if that helps
Thanks! I am riding on East coast.
Questions to all the seasoned boarders; from a 40 year old healthy and active male: How difficult is the sport? How common are serious injuries?
Anything new can be difficult and intimidating, but the reward is well worth the risk in my opinion! The best thing you can do is rent a board and take a lesson so that you’re in good hands and a controlled, safe environment. I’ve seen people 55+ learning to snowboard and it’s inspiring!
Started @ 53 & have 30 days in
Stoked for this season
Repetition & strength training is your friend as an older rider
Which board would u recommend for all mountain?
Picked up a Mercury 158w with the cool 23er topsheet last year for 400 bucks in Switzerland. The 23, 24, and now 25 all have the same construction, just different graphics.
Love it 🖤🤍
Cheers from Switzerland
Grat vid fellas!
Kazu or k2 alchemist or k2 excavator for carving, pow and jumps
Thanks for all the great info!
Thanks for my 61 wide Mega Death, fellas!!!

Kazu is pronounced Ka-zoo!” It’s not pronounced “kaaaaa-zoo.”
The Kazu wins on the best graphics. The rival on best graphics, i feel, is the Libtech Retro Ripper for the past two years. The dragon in the water for the 23-24, and Japanese lady with the Samurai Sword on the 22-23, were the best i have seem, art wise.
Great video, great banter between the two. Good job!
I would put the alchemist more in the freeride category then in the all moutain one
So many rad boards coming year. In the mid 80s to 90s. We ride long boards. I was shredding on 158 kemper board.. I'm 5'8" 152 with kemper boots. Lol
If yall would let me give some feedback, as a viewer itd be great if you used youtubes chapter feature. You give really great insights on every board but as a viewer I generally make a decision before you finish, and its then kinda annoying to find when you start talking about the next board.
Great insights thought, thanks for the video
I want to take the next step after riding my YES Basic for quite some time as a beginner. What should I go for?
First time in a while I’ve heard height mattering more than weight. How does your height/leverage supersede your weight?
@@GngrbrdmnV2 leverage will always be relitave to where your upper body weight sits in relation to the board 👊
38:06 but which MTB brand is it!?
What board would you recommend for someone confident on smaller hills but moving to Big White for the season. 15 Days on the board, 6 foot 220 lbs size 10.5 US Foot

Problem I’m finding is height and weight for boards.
I’m 5’6” and 160lbs, maybe 175 with gear etc) and my centre to centre on bindings is 520mm.
Most boards I’m finding at the 150-152 etc are wider stance of 540 min and can’t go more to rear without stretching out more than I’d like. 🤷♂️
Riding arbor formula rocker last couple of years and not loving it really
Ideas ?
Really want to ride a Kazu, but at 6’6” 245 it’s just not possible still. Would love to see that 165w
Is it Specialized bikes with that issue? 😬
Great video, thank you! I may be wrong but when you talk about the GNU and show a rider in a red jacket (Mark, I think), the rider looks like he is actually riding the Megadeath (until you get to the pow rider in the green jacket). Either way, keep making these great videos!!
Yes - Green Jacket is Shane on the Gnu !
Building stoke here... subd! 🤙
Great reviews as always! Any big difference with 159 and 160w of Gnu Banked Country on riding?
Like your reviens I am a old school and I still l love my Dupraz D1 5'5" ++ and D1 6' +

@@BeaverBoarder the guys are iver on Patreon to help members with these requests 👊
What mtb you talking bout?
I love my Kazu!
