Apart from a couple of cymbals he has only changed the finish. I believe his setup has been the same since 1995. It was then that he removed two rack toms and put the china cymbal where he did.
0:25 growl was sweet 1:18 old guy mosh haha this is amazing the stage reminds me of the stage they played sanitarium in 1986 i think it was in Denmark. The Roskilde festival
true. there are alot of fans like that now. but not only for the raiders. i love the raiders and when i go to the games i do see that but its also in san francisco. and theyre always the ones starting the fights most of the time.
I dont even like heavy metal, but i do like Metallica. I think it all started because i saw this show live at the 2002 AFC Championships. It was a good day....
It's Bob Rock. Metallica's former producer (Now Rick Rubin). He was playing bass with Metallica during St. Angers records and this gig was exacly then. When You are listening to St. Anger records you heard Bob Rock bass work. It's not Rob, he joined later.
the guy with the yellow hair in 6:36 is the bassist, he was there studio cordinator or somethin but he also play bass with the band during pratice of st anger.
Doesn't matter when or where ... every single Metallica Gig is so much fun to watch. You got the big-man Hetfield right there yelling YEAAAH!!! YOu got smiling Kirk doing his awesome Solos and you have Lars, the never stopping Energizer^^ Ok Bob Rock in that one is ... 'working' ^^ Anyway, nice Vid. enjoyed watching it
You weren't there, guy. It was in the parking lot of the Oakland Coliseum, where people had been tailgating for days. There was shit strewn ALL OVER the pavement -- broken bottles, cans, etc. Some people left that pit bloodied and were patched up by the paramedics outside the stadium. They wanted to play halftime at the AFC Championship but couldn't get NFL approval, so they settled for an impromptu set pre-game. These guys are huge Raider fans and frankly, their fans deserve each other. \m/
It was actually at the 2003 AFC Championship against the Titans but it was a complete surprise to everyone- the security wasn't even told about them playing a show here.
No shit, that would be interesting to find out. They certainly got the money to do whatever it is they want to do that's for sure. I had an Aria Pro II back in the late 80's that had EMG pick ups in it, and it was truly an awesome sounding axe. Being made in Japan it was unbelievably great sounding.
hey bob rock actually does a really good job playing bass, but did anyone else notice but it was so obvious that the camera avoided where possible to keep off Bob and focus on Kirk Lars and James?
No,this concert was played during the recording of st.anger.They started to search a new bassist after the recordings. For more info just watch the documentary of the making of st.anger. Rock on!!!
actually this show was meant to start them off on there upcoming tour and they didnt want bob rock to be in the video becasue htey were looking for there new bass played at the time still
haha bob rock on the bass :)
I love to see how much they have fun playing this . Brilliant !!!!
Last time we see that drumset
It was an awesome drumset, one of my favorites.

+Den Qwerty The orange one is the same as this one
Apart from a couple of cymbals he has only changed the finish. I believe his setup has been the same since 1995. It was then that he removed two rack toms and put the china cymbal where he did.

Love this gigg and this band!
awesome music , and perfect drums!!
I will always love this band long live metallica!!!!
I think that this is one of the best versions live of Master of Puppets i have heard. The best is the 1989 Seatlle version in my opinion.
That's all i've been used to see them playin' are ESP's and the Explorers. Just a nice sight to see. Cheers
@Wojteo92 Marshall stacks maxed out on gain and volume. And probably a custom Kirk Hammett Wah pedal for the solo. You can get those at guitar center.
Love to see Papa Het's face during the first solo, you can see the love he puts in it :)
holy shit i've never seen a pt to MOP thats pretty kickass, hopefully they do something like this again in oakland and i'll go
You cant deny it, Bob has a good bass sound !
awesome thanks for the video!!
Though this song is sooo long ago but I still get high whenever i listen to it. metallica FTW!!!
I dont even like heavy metal, but i do like Metallica. I think it all started because i saw this show live at the 2002 AFC Championships. It was a good day....
I Love The Guitar James Used In this Music

Bob Rock was their producer, and filled in on bass for St Anger. Fleming Rasmussen is their manager.

Heheeeey, is it me or does James have a Boss CH-1 Super Chorus in the Rectifier's FX Loop? :D
it is indeed bob rock. This was before Trujillo.
Bob recorded the bass tracks for the St Anger Album
In Spain, when we looks a video like this, we say... IMPRESIONANTE!!!
they didn't show the solo... wtf?!
i remember when they did this gig. i can't believe this was 5 years ago already.

I LOVE THIS SONG
thats cause it was in oakland, which is on the west coast, which is where we (yea i live there) get no snow at all
@KingNothingify They used to play in E standard, but now they have tuned down to Eb while playing live
it's jame's "independet" les paul not an eclipse, check the cutaway =)...and in the headstock 4:15 i read a big and shining "gibson"
Love how kirk stops playing to take his glasses off
i love the background !!!!!
An all-times classic!

That was at Orange stage, the biggest stage at the festival.
Actually 2003 Metallica is my favourit, so raw sound!
la mejor cancion de todos los tiempos Master of puppets ...rafael vega
You gotta give Bob Rock some credit... he was playing Cliff's parts, and from what I heard, he did really well on them.
It was actually at the 2003 AFC Championship against the Titans but it was a complete surprise to everyone- the security wasn't even told about them playing a show here.

hey bob rock actually does a really good job playing bass, but did anyone else notice but it was so obvious that the camera avoided where possible to keep off Bob and focus on Kirk Lars and James?

Metallica+Raiders=BADASSSSSS.
I Luv Lars hes always puttin Energy to all the songs he plays LIVE
It sounds so raw. It's like a St. Anger version of Master of Puppets.
whoever puts these vids together should start giving the spotlight to kirk during the solo, seriously.
James is a huge Raiders fan. Whats Some kind of Monster extra matirale and you will get the story behind this gig and why the played it.
@secretstoner37 you should check out the speed they play this now! and then check the original!
dude this was their 3rd album! its one of the oldest. I think the first 5 albums and the new one death magnetic are the good ones
I LOVE IT !
man that is a very good sound!!kinda sounds like seattle 89!!!
it could be from putting it on youtube, some times the audio gets messed up on youtube
hope they come to slovenia! :D
@jamielinda No it's GIBSON IRON CROSS.. ESP IRON CROSS was made in something about 2009
They don't record the audience, only the mics. That's why you don't hear the crowd
I love the way Lars plays on this video ^^
he wasnt in the band when they did this, thier producer bob rock was playing here instead of rob.
MAN!! First time I hear James Hetfield actually GROWLING at 2:39!!
