    All it’s doing it’s mechanically breaking up the surface tension and allowing the surface gold to sink and gets trapped by the sluice box. Amazing video! Cheers from California! This is one of those one of kind think outside the box teachers that really know their stuff!

    I saw this setup a year or so back when you did a clean up for Chris, you explained the setup/how/why. I immediately ordered a new sluice and vibration motor from that video.
    Built my own, and love it!! I just now 38 minutes ago found your video, thanks for the set up idea. I’ve always thought adding vibration to the sluice would help settle more gold out. You proved it does. Thank you and God bless you sir‼️

    This might be the best gold video on UA-cam, absolutely genius.
    Furthermore, finally there is somebody that made a gold video that tests the tailings. Everybody wants the ooooos and ahhhhhs from looking at the gold, but nobody seems to want to do the most important work that of testing the tailings. It's like we live in a world of idiots.
    I can't begin to tell you how happy I am to have found this video, made my day.

    So glad I saw this video. I have asked Pat Keene about this very idea and we discussed it at length for not only already being used in commercial setups but how to get it into small personal setups on the go. I have heard about snipers going in after a commercial season and people getting good fines out of their tailings from the season. A lot of these commercial outfits can still benefit and it blows my mind they don’t do this especially since they run so long and run mats that don’t have active exchange and clean outs at more often intervals.
    Another gentleman was talking about a two stage vibrator that not only changes RPM but also somehow frequency much like a sine wave testing generator for speakers. Meaning going through many frequencies to affect a better length of the box. But it seemed to be cheaper to run more vibrators along the length instead.
    Nonetheless this was an awesome video and I’m finally glad to see others think like I do and also get good results

    Great to see a vibrator on a sluice! I have been experimenting with a wand vibrator in a pail of material to concentrate heavies at the bottom before panning. It works quite well but it's not anywhere near as good as this!

    I like your riffle set up, similar to mine. About 8 years ago I was determined to make a riffle tray that could handle a variation in water flow and make the tray angle / pump size not so critical and catch a broader size of gold. To achieve that I had to reduce the size of the tray from 12 " to 8 "width to get the velocity I needed and I made up the riffle rack incorporating the 3 classic riffle designs, 4x Z, 4 x angled and 2 @ right angle. Spent ages making it up out of stainless etc and it was amazing what it captured and worked perfectly. These days Im getting lazy and I replaced it with the dream mat to save on processing time with the massive difference in cons volume. I was pretty proud of what I made but as it is with most things these days there is always someone else one step ahead. As per your vibrator, well done.
    cheers Johno

    Super cool idea!
    some thoughts I had. So if you want more vibration you should try to isolate the sluice from the wood frame with some rubber or other soft material. That will allow the box to move a little more. Also the vibration is getting in the tub your apparatus is sitting on. So it's getting into the tailings bucket so the gold may all settle to the bottom of the bucket.

    • @AussieBlokeProspector

      Absolutely spot on. Use rubber mounts to attach the sluice to the bath and you'll get much more vibration where you want it. It'll be heaps quieter you could possibly turn the vibrator down a notch or use a smaller 12V one.

    Very well done brilliant, another improvement you could add is a Variarc Transformer hooked into the inverter and the vibrator plugged into the Variarc by doing this you can control the voltage to your vibrator thus giving you many more options of vibration waves, full blast short fast waves turned down slower waves, I use a Variarc Transformer on my clean out sluice and can adjust the water flow Exactly the way I want it, you could do the same with your vibrator and get a variety of Different types of vibration that could even affect the gold better.

    If you can't afford a concrete vibrator, a cheap orbital palm-sander is a good alternative. Buy a second-hand/used one, as they will trash their bearings if bolted securely. Mount it on springs.

      We know that we are missing gold, but don't want to admit it to others or worse ourselves. I know that we lose super fine gold in the silty water. Do you feel that the vibration is dropping this float gold? Your other principles of slowing the water and sluice angle are spot on . Years ago we put a small vibrator run off our air supply on my dredge as advised by an old timer who was willing to share his experiences like you are doing. Well done and thanks for sharing!

    • @1topskyrocket
      @1topskyrocket 3 роки тому +1

      @@arcticminer32 I've had my own thoughts and theories about how to catch the ultra fine gold particles. One of them is to use alfalfa that has been charged with electrical static and shoved into a laundry bag that has holes everywhere more like a fish net. And as the water passes through this bag particles of metals will be attracted to it. Another one is to have a sluice that gets really wide so it slows down near the bottom of the sluice box. The wider it gets the slower it will become and hopefully allowing the ultra fine gold to drop out and stay in a sluice box. Things I have never tried since coming up with them from other miners knowledge and experience..

    Great video sir. You’ve got my brain engaged in how to mechanically reproduce the tap tap tap of the pan. Also thought of a table like if you ever played air hockey on. All small holes blowing controllable jets of air with another source of air blowing above the surface so as to blow the light material away while the gold stays. The other idea stems from another series of videos I’ve seen where the table is flat and under it is a speaker. From the speaker they play a constant mhz freq and with each new freq change different distinct geometric patterns forms as it vibrates. Each change results in a different pattern entirely. How would gold react given the different density of the quarts Vs gold. There is a name for these tables but I’m sorry I don’t remember. Basically boiled down to the same sand given changes in mhz would result in distinct new lines being formed. Don’t know if this thinking out loud is helpful but certainly the collective mind can refine over time better than a small number of individuals thinking about the same problem.

      get a craftsman oscillating tool. 👀 they come with a real crappy scraper that magically fits that hole in your gold pan. once you drill a 1/4" hole ofc. bolt it together and use a couple rubber washers between the pan and the scraper head. run it on HIGH. no low stuff. it will fling and beat up everything. the key to this is high frequency. drill that hole as close to the end of the scraper bit as possible. i used a carbide burr. stick some lead on top of a hand full of sand and test that bad boy lolol

    Crazy experiment that I wouldn't have guessed would have caught any gold, especially with carpet, tiny expanded metal, & big-ish rifles. A shaker sluice that still needs to be panned instead of a one and done shaker table. Hmm; idk; I guess it's good if you can't make a shaker table.
    No videos for 3 years, No reply for a year; was interesting to think about though. Would like to figure out how to do fine gold recovery or most of it straight away. - Am thinkin tight roller screens to classify fine gold and sand at the moment, never thought about vibration as I thought it would compact or bounce gold out and wash away. Cool vid.

    I always knew concrete vibrators would be instrumental with gold prospecting/mining back when I saw one in action in construction. :) You should try to rig up a metal rod to stick into a bucket of concentrates with water in it...and then vibrate for 5 minutes and see if it drops all the gold to the bottom of the bucket (or smaller container like gallon milk jug or transparent container that size like quart jar)

  • @witherbossbros1157
    @witherbossbros1157 7 місяців тому

    Just noting - your tailings bucket is being vibrated throughout the process somewhat, which means that gold will may be settling downward in the tailings bucket, and therefore won't be in a scoop from the top of the bucket. It would be worth panning down further throughout your tailings bucket to understand whether any gold is getting through. The reason I mention this is that you said the material is getting compacted on your sluice, and gold has a very hard time moving through compacted material. Just something too think about. Thanks for your video.

    How fine is that gold? My guess is about 300 mesh. I don't use the 'swirlie' reveal on this size gold. If you just start tapping the blondes will travel to the near side of the pan leaving the fine gold behind. I think you will find it easier. Thanks for the idea about the concrete vibrator, it should work well for a vibrating screen also.

      Fair point you raise.... but yes, through all the testing phases, I did... I just didn't show all that considering how long the vid is...but I probably should have mentioned that. The bottom of the bucket results were no different from the top. Regards Aussie

    Love that you don’t make people (at least me🤷🏻‍♂️)feel they’re being petty about the lil amounts that will actually be a good amount in the end .
    I always wonder if gravel pit companies even consider collecting gold ?🤷🏻‍♂️
    I’m curious if water temperature helps or if warm water with cold materials or other way around 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Just a thought: a non-motorised modification to a river sluice could be possible for use on-site, in the stream flow.
    Most of the flow energy of the stream's water could be diverted from the sluice channel and converted to the required direction, frequency and magnitude. It'd likely be a linear function of the water volume and flow, and non-mechanical (perhaps using memory-material) as well to comply with some states' fossicking regulations.
    There's possibly already a device like this being used in other industries such agriculture that can be adapted. Or, someone may have already invented such a device for their sluice.

      Perhaps a good application of redirected water. Having said that, the subject here is about making a simple vibration bed, which should not be used in the bush, but at home as part of a Gold recovery arsenal. Thanks or the input. Regards Aussie

    good stuff by the way i use vibration for cleaning up gold plated components i in the restoration of antique harps made from a 12 volt car heater fan with an offset piece of metal and a container for the bits with water and cutting compound just a suggestion to save dragging a 200 kilometre extension cord from home or worse still a generator lol cheers from Tasmania

    I already do this but I use a twelve volt vibrater with a variable speed controller!
    For me your vibrator is too fast and your result will be 100% if you slow the vibration down!

      You can control 240 volt motor buy adjusting the 50hz frequency but a motor control. Look on concrete vibrator and you can see you can buy a speed controller

    IF its not too much to ask please help me disect this so I can learn intricate details of what I think I missed by answering the following ? one at a time. Sorry. Just trying to learn more, and this is one awesome video. Thank you already for all youve done for all of us in this learn/share opportunity. Kyle Pa-USA
    When you first ran the original material through the sluice at the original setpoints, is the material in the buckets at the start of this video all of the tailings from that original run? what was the original batch weight + recovery = kg?
    My summary of this: You took your orginal tailings, and recrushed them to classify smaller. Then modified the sluice to the 11:1 with vibration and reduced flow and then re ran the cons to concentrate further once you were satisfied that the tailings no longer held any fines (if i am understanding correctly).
    After all modifications, now knowing what you know....would you suggest that next time you start off by crushing 1st to the 100mesh for consistincy purposes, and then sluice at the modified settings, and finainlly then sluice the cons 1x tand then blue bowl the total cons?

    • @AussieBlokeProspector
      @AussieBlokeProspector  3 роки тому +1

      Happy to answer mate...
      The original run was approx 150 kg for 45 grams which is equivalent to around 9.5 oz....and yep....re-crushed and re-ran. If I was chasing maximum recovery for smelting, then yes I could fast track the process by crushing finer straight off...definitely. Regards Aussie

      It may well. This model was a fixed speed, but I can definitely see the benefit of a variable speed adjuster as there would most likely be an optimum frequency. Thanks for the input. Regards Aussie
