For a guy like Judge, a guaranteed star, Boras is great. When you're a guy like Bellinger or Conforto with some risk, he'll overplay his hand and you're left taking a one year prove it deal.
Bellinger and Snell are so similar. Boras wants them paid like their best years are who they are and teams are saying well what about the pedestrian seasons between the great ones.

Samson left out important context on Soto turning down $440 from the Nats - it was a 15 year deal (29.3 AAV) with heavy deferrals. It was a no brainer to decline lol

It's not a no brainer to decline, say he gets hurt, 30 million dollars a year deferring the money to futures years helps with taxes. Players have gambled and lost.

Further he’d have attached himself to a franchise that was headed to a prolonged rebuild & still has onerous contracts on the books + ownership instability (they just pulled the team off the market). It’s not a team nor situation you attached yourself to for the rest of your playing career.
The Nats $440 offer was only to save face with the fans and was never, ever under serious consideration. If you’re Juan Soto it’s a no brainer to decline, full stop. 🤣

1) Scott has overvalued him.
2) Matt has a draft pick attached to him - so even a 1-year deal means the team loses a draft pick.
3) Only the Jays could sign him and they will only sign him if they can delete a contract … not going to happen for Chapman’s abysmal hitting.

Its honestly ridiculous how often Sampson talks out of both sides of his mouth. "Breaking ranks" isnt collusion to him, yet he talks about the unspoken agreement between them as they are all expected to act and conduct their business in a particular way. So its not collusion by the dictionary definition of the law, but we all know it is what it is. Being unable to be honest about that just makes him come across like he huffs paint in his spare time

this is cope and I can't really get behind wanting players not to get paid what they're worth. Blake Snell is getting absolutely hosed and it's not his fault. He talks about "it's unspoken" about dealing with Boras clients kind of like it's "unspoken" when dealing with Trevor Bauer, who to me is the bigger story of the offseason.
How is he getting hosed? He wants $40 million per year, he has thrown 130 plus innings 2 times in his career. Those Cy Young’s mean little. He’s a $25-27 million per year guy at best.. If teams thought Snell was a #1 guy he’d be on a team by now
Juan Soto is only 25 years old. The New York Yankees are paying him 31 million dollars this coming 2024 MLB season. Once again, he is only 25 years old. Juan Soto still may get more than a 400 million dollar contract. What is David Samson talking about? If Juan Soto has a great MLB season this coming season -- at least 1 MLB team will offer Juan Soto at least 400 million dollars again.

They don't have a contract and the pitchers will not be ready for opening day- they are already behind and more likely to get injured if they rush it- their seasons are screwed. Position players do have more tiem to sign.

MLB owners should have gotten together a long time ago and decided not to negotiate with anyone represented by Boras. I don't care if it's collusion. The guy is a stain on MLB. He's a slimebag of the highest order and i immediately question the priorities of any player that signs with him.

you realize the reason for contracts like this now are because the owners colluded in the 80s and early 90s right? and they same owners are the ones who first offered 20+ million a yr contracts, boras never asked for those, and if they did that considering the owners have lost a majority of these type of cases. he would win so easily and then the owners would have to pay even more money to not look like they are colluding
