What would be really helpful is to show us Brad's "regular" approach and ball speed first. There is no comparison for us. Thank you for your videos, guys.
Not only do you have to speed up the feet when moving back, but you have to lengthen the stride to compensate for moving back. You also have to speed up the armswing to catch up with the feet.
Keep up with the good work guys. I really like the demo. It's not like many teaching videos just doing a lot of talking but no action. I would like to see some clips on finger spans and pitches. Thanks for sharing your bowling knowledge.
you said it doesnt matter which one is right with the ball placement but is there a point where the ball is objectively too high or too low like maybe holding the ball in front of your face so you cant see the arrows?
This makes sense, my current ball speed is only current over 11 mph 12 max. My swing is usually a bit delay since I’m still a beginner and not only that I bowl thumbless so i feel like I will drop the ball if I pull back all the way up so it feels awkward releasing the ball. Now I just gotta practice my swing with my legs.
I’ve really enjoyed watching your “vlog” approach to learning.. I really like the content in this one but it left me wanting more. I would have liked to see a couple more shots.. maybe the before “normal” way verse the new way.. or Kyle throwing the ball as well. No hate here 💙 you guys!
I agree the normal speed approach would have been nice to see, along with some indication of what the speed is. Then the faster approach along with speed to directly compare the two. Not a complaint here, just some helpful feedback.
Good video guys! If one suggestion keep a camera further back so you can have Brad's shot in a single shot, rather than have a cut. Besides that great stuff!!
Just watching some of the older vid’s ... my biggest problem is where I like to stand on the lanes ... my heels are at the back .. so any adjustments I make are usually right or left .. if I’m coming in late to the pocket I’ll move up ... speed seems like I have to slow down if anything .. average 190’s ... 64 y’s old ... not sure how right all this is but works for me for the most part! Any suggestions?
Well explained, I am a woman in the upper 60s and bowl a speed lower 9 mph, need to get that extra ooph to get a strike and not to leave a pin. Will try and practice this change without messing my swing.
For one-handed bowlers, there is really only a couple ways to do so… first would be to open your upper body (from your waist up) on the backswing and transfer the energy created when closing your body into the ball. This takes a lot of practice to really trust. The other, easier option is to start your push away/ backswing early and make sure the apex of the backswing is higher than usual. Also takes practice but is more timing-based than the previous suggestion, which is a totally new mechanic.
Brad and Kyle, these tips are very helpful. At the moment, my ball speed is at 11-13 mph. I have been working very hard on increasing my speed. I am hoping to get it up to 14-17 mph. Other than increasing the speed of your feet, are there other useful strategies for increasing ball speed?
So i stand with my heels off the end of the approach. I often find myself needing to throw the ball faster to compensate for my rev rate. How would i go about doing this without starting off the back of the approach?
If your in a five step approach I would minimize that first non ball moving step by a lot. I stand really far back myself and through the years I’ve really shortened my first two steps which has brought my feet with the back set of dots in between my toes and heel now and for more speed step back keep the first two steps slow and then stride out the rest it’s not really a matter of faster feet but bigger longer strides like a sprinter they don’t increase their speed by taking shorter faster steps but by longer strides really using their legs to cover more ground quicker. I hope that helps and makes sense.
I find as big as I am, I have a slooooow ball speed. I think I am speeding up and I seem to only be turning my wrist over the top of the ball and causing it to hook more. What do I do. I am consistently 11.7-12.3mph with a 13lb ball.
Is it a tempo change or actually it is longer steps to cover more distance in the same amount of steps and arrive at the same distance from the foul line?
Effectively it's both. By increasing the length of the steps, and increasing the tempo, it essentially means you've moved a larger distance in the same amount of time as your normal approach, which equals = more velocity. AKA, ball speed. The key is what they said at the end of the video - match the ball position height and push away so that it matches the new, faster timing! Otherwise it will be difficult to repeat.
My brother and I go bowling every Tuesday cause it’s $2.75 per game. The issue Is that for the past two weeks, we’re stuck bowling next to a family that keeps cutting us off and making us miss our spares. It’s drives us crazy and irritated and want to just pack up, pay And get out. I get that they want to have fun too but it’s not even fun for us to get better at this sport when they constantly cut us off. One time at a bowling center at the next town over, it was just me bowling and and a person kept go on my role and when I was in motion, walking up to the line, the person that bowled next to me decided to go at the same time as me, made me trip and fall on the lane due to their leg being in my path. This is the only sport I can play due to my vision, limiting what sports I can play

What great instructions to increase speed. These guys are great.
Thanks for watching
Great video. So simple, but it works! Tried it out tonight and I'm throwing 1.5- 2 mph faster now.
Thanks for the video, I’ve been struggling with this all season long.
Do u guys have a video on why the fingers hurt when bowling? Or how to avoid injuries? Would be really helpful. Thanks.
2018 v 2020 Brad and Kyle? wow... the difference. good job fella's.

Kyle just came out of surgery, he can't bowl for a good while

Patti Nissen right!

Another great video guys people just got to remember you got to practice practice practice perfect your imperfections

If you could work out a little, you might be able to throw the ball faster, or use a heavier bowling ball.
Thanks for the tips guys! You guys helped increased my ball speed from 16.5 to over 18 mph!
when pro bowlers use loft (in front of a ball return) how do they generate more speed when they only have 2 or 3 steeps to throw the ball?

you guys gave me alot of useful tips how to improve my game.Love ur video guys.Love from Malaysia🇲🇾❤️
I'm also from Malaysia!
I like Brad's idea of six inches...

Same, i have the curve right i just need more soeed behind the ball to make it hit.

What if I take 5 steps but I’m already at the back of the approach and can’t move back anymore?
You guys should talk about the finish position next time

Maybe adjust speed as Rod Ross teaches and then you won’t fall off the shot?
0:46-0:55
Thanks!
What is going on with yalls contrast?
That was an all-time screw job on that ten pin leave.
how did u make this video if your on crutches?
its called pre-recorded
Yea
Magically healed!?!?! *not clickbait*
It's called pre recorded
I keep referencing your tips.
Thank you my speed has gone from about 25 kmh to around 30-32kmh
I thought kyle had surgery
Drop to a lighter ball.
