Thank you so much man. I'm new to guitar and I've been trying to nail this solo for two days now. Your attitude and advice really helped me get it down.
wow, no one of the others youtube lesson guys nails the solos like you do! hats off, that was amazing :) thx, i learned everything i wanted to know about the solos right away!
Thanks for the great lesson! Finally after two weeks im able to play it up to speed, although with a few mistakes. I have played for five years with long breaks, this is the first real solo I learned. Really good video, finally I felt like I improved after a long time. Clearly explained, superb playing by you. Thanks.
Your videos give me hope because I have small hands/short fingers and I see you’re not afraid to bend with the pinky. Many players can reach with the ring finger or just switch positions to avoid the pinky bend.
Hey William, thanks for the comment and I'm so glad I can be of inspiration. I think my hands are on the smaller side too (at least by Western standards) but I've never even thought of not using my pinky. I think it's simply a habit that many people develop early on. For me, the bigger challenge is trying to keep my thumb wrapped around the neck (or positioned at the top of the neck) versus behind it. Definitely something I had to work on :)
Hi Andrew, are you talking about the section that starts at 2:44? I think that is the most challenging part of both solos. It looks so simple and repetitive in the tabs, but the timing can be tricky :)
Hi Dave! Thanks for another great video. Any tips for how to speed up the gallop rhythms in the song? Been struggling with that for quite a while now. Thanks!
Hmmm... I would say it's best to stay relaxed and practice along to the original song slowed down. Perhaps start around 75% of the original speed, and slowly work your way up. :)
What worked for me was taking Guitar Pro software and slowing the tab/song down to about 50--60% and keep it there for a couple days or so. I think practicing that slow for that long helps develop muscle memory and timing. Then bump it up 10% or so after a couple of days making sure that you have the timing down. And practice with drums or metronome. Just my thoughts. Time consuming and boring but really helped me get the timing down--Ben
Why do I have such a problem with vibrato when it seems to be something simple? I'm pretty sure there are other more complicated things that I learn/do easily and yet I suck at this basic skill. (No lessons, by the way- so, yea, there's that too). Any insight or videos you might recommend?
Hi Johny, I use 9 gauge strings. While I prefer the tone of 10s (slightly more), I use 9s because they are more "bendy" and I can get a little wilder with them :)
Hey bro, thanks for the comment! As for Tribute, that's quite the undertaking to transcribe, etc. I tend to stick to normal length solos, but I will take it under consideration :) Rock on!
@@PDXguitarfreak I can donate $100.00. There is not a good video on UA-cam of how to play and there are several sections that drive me nuts. They have for years. lol. I'm just your average sh*tty guitar player, but I have fun playing. Would love to learn it note for note.
I've watched a few videos & was wondering if you use stomp boxes or a modeler? Definitely sounds like a phaser on this one & Bark at the Moon. If you use a modeler do you share presets? Awesome videos man! Keep doing the good stuff!!!!!!! 🤘😁🤘
Hi Brett, thanks! Yes, I do use a modeler for recording - Line 6 Helix. Also, I do have patches that I share. Also, you have a very good ear - with Bark at the Moon the phaser was a little more prominent (like the original), but I tend to add a slight little bit of phase when recording solos, quite often. Very much inspired by Van Halen's use of the Phase 90 on the early recordings. I find it that when mixed with the overdriven tone and some delay, it really adds a nice texture to the tone. :)
Mano brasil porra, n entendi nada o que o cara disse mais as tabs e os exemplos tocados deu pra pegar o solo de boa man, vlw tu é foda e n sabe português provavelmente
BTW, for those of you who noticed Dave forgot Dave Murray's part of the harmony during Adrian's solo: e|--14b(15)--14b(15)r14--14b(15)r14--14b(15)r14--14b(15)--| Then: e|--12--14--------12------------------------------------| B|---------------15-------13--15--12h13------------| G|-------------------------------------------------14~~--| Hope this helps; I'm the worst at writing tabs at the moment.

Great lesson pdx, I've always loved Adrian's playing, he is so emotional with his phrases, anyway spot on especially the vibratos!
Thank you Daniel! I try to get the phrasing accurate, including vibrato, so I appreciate your comment. :)
Amazing lesson as always, can’t wait till you do Wasted Years!! Wonderful playing!!
Nice work on your videos. You've done a great job of simplifying many of the solos that Iv'e looked at so far! Keep it up!
YES! Some background scenes while playing! It's been a while. Now we need some old classic fro-n-shades.
LOL, I've been thinking about that too :)
What a great lesson. Well done mate!
Yeah you played that so well! One of the best I’ve seen. Great stuff
You've got some awesome guitars. Another great video and lesson. Thanks---Ben

Super Trooper.... I remember listening to this on headsets on my first airplane ride..
Nice! For me, this brings back a lot of memories from junior high when I was absolutely consumed with Maiden :)
Awesome job bro. Spot on. Going to dig in and compare notes. Up the irons 👋🎸
Thanks for the lesson and tabs Dave well done.
You are welcome bro! :)
Thank you!
Adrian and Dave are sick huge influences on me
Me too! :)
Amazing lesson. Straight to the point and step by step, very simple to follow. Those Dave Murray trills will be the death of me though..
Uno de los mejores videos para explicar este solo!
Excellent as always. Nice one
Thank you! :)
Great Video, Great Lesson, Great Teacher. You Rock! ~Cheers~

Right on bro, rock on! :)
How about run to the hills solo and or ides of march solo's if you haven't already done them ?
I'm still trying to get that repeat bend part right it's always been hard for me idk if it's the string gauge that's making it hard for me to bend it

Can you do an "accurate" cover for tornado of souls? That would be some kind of wonderful.
What gauge of string is this,10?
