Hi peter
What another great new addition to the fleet and so easy to follow and install the decoder.
hello
yes it was a brill addition to the fleet and it was one of my favs of the fleet.
peter
I did mine today, get 2 small flathead screwdrivers and the decoder slides out like a dream! But I totally agree the chassis section that unclips is way too tight haha
Awesome model Peter! Thanks for sharing this video. Cheers Onno.
Hi onno
I must admit now I've got it run in I absolutely love it one of tge best dmus bachmann have done.
Peter
Hi Peter nice video mate not a problem without any editing so no worries. It's great that Bachmann have already set the acceleration and deceleration settings to be more prototypical. I've got a few Bachmann locos that are already set which I think is great. I wish all manufacturers did the same. I know it's easy to set the cv's but newcomers to dcc don't always have the confidence to do it so you see their train come to a sudden halt. Enjoyed the video I'm just going to get my new real track class 156 out of the box and give it a run cheers Andy
Hi andy
I've also got the realtrack 156 great little unit again.
I've had mine over a year now and its a major part of my multiple unit fleet which is now complete apart from a voyager set but dont want to go through the hard task of adding three chips.
Peter
Good unboxing Peter some great information on the class 158 what to look out for if you have got one.👍
Hi gary
Glad you liked the video it was for me tge worst video iv ever done but I am learning all the time with making videos.
Peter from Birmingham
Great video.
Hi Peter
Thank you for the nice comment glad you enjoyed the video.
Peter
The 158 is certainly a lovely train. I have the regional railways one with sound. You mentioned CVs 3/4, it might be limited to the sound version but does it have a brake? You did have a CV apparently without a function maybe it’s a brake. Worth a try.
The video is fine, I enjoyed it !!
Hi John
Glad you liked the video.
Thank you for the info I will have a look at what you have suggested to find out and I will also be checking the dip switches aswell.

Great review Peter. I've got the East Midlands version and that chip as you've found is such a pain in the backside to get out
Hi Chris
You are not wrong I was in swearing off camera.
Glad you liked the video.

@@chelmswoodjunction also had the same issue with the wheels! Sorry commenting as watching lol

Hi Peter stop beating yourself up the video was great really enjoyed it, I myself have the 159 and love it all the best BOb.
Hi Bob
Thank you for the massive comment I think I put it down to the video being so long I have never done a video that long before but now I realise you guys like it so I'm happy about it.
Peter from Birmingham
I’m getting it for Christmas 🎄 can’t wait I have GWR HST so it will go good
Hi Lewis
The 158 does compliment the hornby gwr hst very well and I have them both.
Looking at getting more class 158s and class 150 with dcc sound
@@chelmswoodjunction cool thanks man stay safe in second Lockdown
I think the bicycle logo / sign on one end is to signify the end of the unit that has the cycle storage facilities
I could be wrong though.
hi gary
no your are right the bicycle sign on the side of the unit is where you can take on and store a bicycle i beleive.
peter
Hi Peter. I Had The Same Problem With Both Front Wheel Sets On The Power Cars. As You Said An Easy Fix But How Did They Get Through Bachmann QC. Great Video.
Hi Andy
You would think with a big company as bachmann that they would of spotted that but in fairness to bachmann they would only qc a certain amount they wouldn't check every coach wagon or loco that goes out.
Just one of those things a quick and easy fix and boy its a stunner of a model looks wise and brilliant runner cant wait to put a sound chip into it.
Peter
Hi Peter, just got this train and fitted the decoder, but whenever I put it on the track and turn the controller on the train makes a loud buzzing sound and all the lights come on in the carriage and cabs at the same time. Not just that it won’t let me move the train in either direction. Any idea if this is a problem with the train or the plux 22 decoder. Cheers, James :)
I know this is a silly thing to say have you put the decoder in wrong as the unit shouldn't do that.
Chelmswood Jct it’s definitely in correctly, must not be a plux 22 I was given with it
In that case be a faulty chip or a faulty pcb board on the unit try decoder first
Chelmswood Jct I’ve ordered a new decoder so will let u know if it works fingers crossed
@@JG1HD well if that dont work then you know its the unit i hope the decoder.
ill keep my fingers crossed for you but let me know.
I found getting the blanking plate out a little fiddly but relatively straightforward. I personally love the design of this model.
I must admit I love the model one of my best performers on my layout to be honest can't wait to get it sound fitted
Peter
Hi Peter, good video, I got my c158, a few weeks ago and I Xmas day I run in a few engines which was OK, I then got my digital sound C158 out, put it on the track and nothing, I have sound, but no lights and it does not move, iam a bit peed off as it cost my$ 600 in Australia, try a few things but still nothing , my C 159 goes great, so do you have any idea what could be wrong, have you heard of anyone with the same problems
Hi Geoffrey
You are the second person that has had an issue with the class 158.
Now if you have fitted the dcc sound to the 158 it could be the sound chip so if you can try the 158 in dc mode.
If you can't the try a normal dcc non sound chip see if that works if not I would contact the retailer that you brought the 158 from.
Anything else please ask.
And I hope you and your family have a brill new year.
Peter
Hi Peter, the class 158 I bought is the sound equipped 1 I have contacted the model train shop I go to hear and they said to bring a back on the 5th of January when they open up again thanks very much for your help cheers
Hey, can you post the link of the class 158?
just go onto google and search bachmann class 158 gwr it will take you right there.
peter
Thanks
A very nice model, but I do prefer my old Arriva one ;)
