For those asking, the guest vocalist is Toni Young. She played bass in Red C, who had songs on the Flex Your Head comp. She sadly passed away a couple years after this was filmed.
Exactly! I love how punk rock bands just let the crowd sing a lot of the time, it really pumps everyone up. Plus singing WITH a band you admire live at a concert... fucking unbelievable!
haha well i agree with you on biafra and rollins... but ian was in fugazi (best band ever). I got to talk to him when he did a guest lecture in irvine, still really cool and really nice. plus his baby is really cute.
hehe thats so cool to hear about the scene at that time. Im Born in 81 so I wasnt really able to go there haha :P things changed since that heh... I would go back in time just for that. thanx for the info.
everyone says that they were born in the wrong era, but punk is still around. places like the gilman have shows all the time. the people who say they were born in the wrong time probably wouldnt have heard of minor threat or black flag etc. if they did live in that time. they would be talking about how they were born in the wrong time. start your own band, play shows. there is still a punk scene.
only in the hardcore scene will you see this level of intensity intimacy agression and passion at live shows really wish I was around during that era a time of political corruption and conservative fuckery spawned a musical rebellion like none other I've seen we could use a scene like this today but unfortunately most people in my generation don't got the balls or mentality for this level of revolution they'd catch a black eye in the mosh pit then go cry to their parents get on their smartphones and talk shit over social media as if they'd ever take a fucking stand up to anything absolutely pathetic youth had lost its edge lost its individuality and most sadly lost its relevance
no bands sound this good live these days. guitar drums bass and vocals all sound incredible. no fun allowed at live shows either anymore. alternative music has been successfully corporatised.. we need a new movement against that shit
I miss shows where you could jump up on stage and sing half the song with the singer! Now days if you jumped up and tried to grab the mic, you would get pummeled by security, and kicked out. I got to sing for 3 seconds at a Descendants/All concert in Houston, Tx. it was fucking awesome. I didn't get up on stage but he lowered the mic for me to sing the "More more more, mo mo more" cover of Billy Idols "In the midnight hour" I will remember that forever. Good bands, good times!
Ian McKaye said recently he don't want to do such thing. He says "if you want to see Minor threat go and start your fucking band. That's Minor threat".
@hotmercedes tired of the punk scene ian went on to start the whole emo scene? where did this info come from? its news to me! besides there were great emo bands way back like screaching weasel and others before that but its nothing like the crap beeing churned out today thats labled ,,emo,,
@evolooshion Im a slayer fan and love minor threat. Slayer even does a cover of minor treat's "guilty of being white"!!!!! Sadly Ian tired of the punk scene and went on to start the whole "emo" scene.
Really chaotic…. Those were the days - HC Punk at its best: Minor Threat Discharge Disorder Peter n The Test Tube Babies D Kennedys etc etc. that was the real and genuine hardcore punk scene in the 1979-1985, after it, it all died
@hotmercedes fuck yea man that's wassup i'm 19 been listening to minor threat since i was 14 my mom been telling me it's a phase i'll grow outta this "annoying childish" music but fuuck that man imma keep listening to this badass band called Minor Threat for life!
the Lyrics to this song are amazing. Go out and get a copy of Minor threat, "complete discography" on discord 40 records. printed in 1989 the year I graduated HS, yes I am 40 and still listen to Minor Threat! they started way back in 1980! And you have to listen to "out of step", I have the lyrics to all of their songs. just ask.
@hotmercedes He continued with Indie. There's nothing not punk about early 90's indie (Mind the double negative). It had DIY roots and was greatly influenced by the 80's hardcore scene, so I wouldn't criticize it. At least it held together better than punk did.
i havent listen this song at this originall version.....but if you really like it then listen "undisputed attitud" from "slayer"...great cover, thanx minor you´re tha shit....!!!!!
@leon625 If a UA-cam comment consists only of "Hey, check out this great new band", chances are that said band is gonna suck. No matter how good the music is, nobody in the History of Ever liked bands that they know because of UA-cam comment advertisement. That goes double for punk bands. So, if you care for them, please don't advertise them on UA-cam anymore.
For those asking, the guest vocalist is Toni Young. She played bass in Red C, who had songs on the Flex Your Head comp. She sadly passed away a couple years after this was filmed.
That’s sad
Red C, Jimi 45 is a great bass line!!
The guy at 0:58 does the beet dance and stage five ever!
Red C was one of the best bands on FYH! So was Artificial Peace (Pete's other band.) Both were easily a decade ahead of their time...
Awww man that sucks. She seemed so motivated ❤👍✌️👌🙏 RIP TONI
That is a black woman goin ham on stage with Ian. Makes me proud to be black and know other black folks have awesome taste in music.
That's Toni, played bass in Red C, you can find them on the Flex Your Head comp. ...good shit.
Jonny Ferraro thanx, man!
Cole McCullough thank you! I commented before seeing yers. But thanks for having sone knowledge
That is so cool !
Dude. Black people invented jazz, funk, reggae, afrobeat, soul and rap music. That is the definition of good taste!
Punk isn't about the scene, it's a state of mind. They were trying to convey a message with their music.
oh my god who is that girl and could she be any more adorable with that smile
Exactly! I love how punk rock bands just let the crowd sing a lot of the time, it really pumps everyone up. Plus singing WITH a band you admire live at a concert... fucking unbelievable!
I like how "Toni" makes her way to the stage via crowd-surfing....that was fuckin awesome.
NICE TO SEE SO MANY DIFFERENT KIDS HAVING A GOOD TIME TOGETHER...
Un himno surgido en épocas de adolescencia ... quien diría duraría toda una vida ❤
My favorite song of theirs!
I HOPE THIS SCENE COMES BACK IM LIT :]
As a member of The Black Delegation, I proudly say, I'm in love with this band! ✊🏿
Tanner Edge I’m also part of the black delegation and like this band, grow up
Tanner Edge you typed that for no reason, my point still stands
That girl is so cute. I like the way punk bands include everyone. It's anarchy... at its best.
😎Don't need drugs when you have this music 🤷🏻♂️😎
Ian Mackaye was a heroine addict. Wait...NO.
Minor Threat is one of the best bands ever.
It's on DVD, released by Dischord Records. You can get it from their website, I'm pretty sure.

You’re not the same!!!!
it's funny how music change since '80s
now it's full of bodyguards .
and back in the '80s people was on stage , and singer was ok with that
haha well i agree with you on biafra and rollins... but ian was in fugazi (best band ever). I got to talk to him when he did a guest lecture in irvine, still really cool and really nice. plus his baby is really cute.
unity !
hehe thats so cool to hear about the scene at that time. Im Born in 81 so I wasnt really able to go there haha :P things changed since that heh... I would go back in time just for that. thanx for the info.

Oh my god this is fucking amazing. The moshing, the music, singing with the fans... so fucking good...

Wow. Thanks for posting this.
no bands sound this good live these days. guitar drums bass and vocals all sound incredible. no fun allowed at live shows either anymore. alternative music has been successfully corporatised.. we need a new movement against that shit
