- Fugazi performing live at the outdoor Sylvan Theater on the Mall in Washington DC, Aug 7, 1993, at the benefit 'Concert For Justice' on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of MLK's historic March On Washington.
In these clips, I've mixed the audio between the original camera's raw mic footage and the remixed live soundboard recordings of the show which are available in the Fugazi Live archive at dischord.com. - Фільми й анімація
Purple girl gets it 🤘
her and red hair guy are pretty much in sync
Same thought
red hat boy also gets it
I love her

Weird to think the amount of time between this concert (1993) and MLK’s march in DC (1963) is the same amount of time between this year (2023) and the concert! This is approaching a 30 year anniversary this coming August.
Ikr lol and it doesn't really feel like a loooong time (between 93 and 2023)
Really? Who gives a fuck? Dork.
That’s the dumbest shit I’ve heard in awhile. Talk about overthinking something to death
there's that, or you could look at this in the depressing way I do: everyone in this clip is either in their 60s or almost there. sigh.
@m parker I always find myself thinking of older videos this way, lol
to this day it blows my mind that this got caught on film and sounds so damn perfect
Respectfully, I could use some more bass over here. 😂
I always loved the fact that Brendan has a ship's bell in his drum kit. That was always such a unique part of the Fugazi sound. i sure do miss them.
We definitely agree on that
He still uses the bell:)
Yup just noticed that when I saw the Mesthetics
It supposedly came from the flag pole at his old school.
Brendan is one of the best drummers I ever saw live, he was always perfect!
is DC ever gonna be this cool again?
The drummer is absolutely incredible
You are the most moronic person in the world and you don't even know why 😂
You credited the drummer ☺️
@@mytorment
Mr Ian somehow stumbled upon an absolute super-group
The bassist is incredible too...
@@hanajinks1044 I think there were two bassists and one could play a riff.... it's moronic not to consider relative subjectivity ☺️🫒
As bands like PIL or Gang of Four emerged after the 76-77 punk rock scene, Fugazi emerged as the post-hardcore version of those amazing bands.
Yep, this is exactly it.
imagine being a teenage in the 90s
live shows look so much fun!
Yes they were. Saw Fugazi in Cleveland in 1995. I was 16 years old.
Live shows are STILL fun, you pringle.
Most shows I've been to in the last decade are just people holding up their phones to record the event instead of actually being present to enjoy the moment. @@jasonrfloyd
Dude it was awesome, I wish I could go back to like 1993 before it all got lame. By 1995 it’s gotten pretty dumb.
I was there
'87 - '92/'93 was just a RIDICULOUS music scene. Probably impossible to ever see that again, other than on UA-cam.
Just go look up Chon ep and you'll hear better stuff than back then
The 1st ever "Overseas" band who performed in my country,Malaysia.
wait, really?! they were the first international act to play live show in Malaysia?
@@bimorahmantyo3756 yeah...the 1st.
amd when was this ?
Obviously bon jovi 1995. Fugazi 1996
Never seen a Rickenbacker player go this hard. Amazing
Look up the Jam.

Greatest drummer to come out of the 80’s DC
if you've never heard of Dave grohl perhaps
@@TrapSlow overrated garbage
Damn, Exactly 30 years ago and it still sounds so fresh!
The 90’s were a great time for live shows. Both the older and newer bands of the times were at their best!

1993 was the year I heard about Fugazi for the first time.
Then in 1994 I saw them live in Munich, Germany. It's time for me to take out their records again and put them on the turntable...!.... 🙂
Oh, and because of Fugazi I also had a (smaller) ship's bell on my drums...
wow what a great footage, thx for sharing this beauty. Fugazi forever:)
Thank you for posting this.
I was at this show, so much fun!
Me too. 😁
Thanks for the video...great quality too.
Today, we have so many devices to record any memory. But, no device or equipment or whatsoever that could replace real talent and passion.
well said
Thanks so much for uploading these videos. I took some of my favorite photos of Fugazi at this gig, which ended up as my memory of it. ( still and silent in black and white) Seeing your excelent color moving images makes me realize it actually really happened. BTW those who are interested in more footage see Jem Cohen's Instrument. The super 8 Black and White at the end of the film is from this gig as well.- Pat Graham
Fugazi never just went through the motions. They let it rip every show.
The energy of those guys onstage, is f@cking contagious!! It would be impossible to go to their show and just stand still!
Until they tell you to. That's where Fugazi gets a little too preachy, for me.
They would cry and kick you out unless you did stand still!
@@snuffcore9686Just a tad. They’re f**king p**sies. They act crazy on stage stage sometimes, but the crowd can’t move around? Give me a break.
amazing! Thank you
wow thanks for posting new fugazi footage ive been waiting for someone to post their mlk/washington monument preformance❤
Makes me proud to be a dc native! Never gets old
Watching this on my 42 birthday.
Utterly moved to tears. If perfection was a thing, this is 3 minutes of it
Listen to Chon ep, they're better at guitar!
It’s not even good or entertaining
I'm interviewing Brendan in July over Zoom!
share the link later
Awesome. I wish I could have been there.
It's cool to look at all these young adults in the crowd and know that they're all at least 50 years old now
Fugazi and the audience as one, a phenomenal reminder of how everything used to be more natural.
ah yes the natural repeat same riff with no lyrics for 3:31
@@Watashi_wa_robottodesu No, the natural being in the moment, watching a band that really moves you perform without filming it on your smartphone and telling other smartphone users what you are doing in the hope that it'll validate you in some way.

Way to miss the point 🤦🏻♂️
It’s simplicity is astounding
Footage is amazingly crisp! Was more filmed from this performance, anyone? I would see them a month later, twice on this "In on the kill taker' tour.
Check the other videos I uploaded from this show.
So good I forgot to LIKE, so I watched it again!
I had the honor to see them live at the Hollywood Palladium 4/24/93. the measured wall of sound/feedback that they were able to sustain through the whole concert is unprecedented in live music, controlled chaos, beautiful.
i was there. a top all timer of a concert.
Rock For Choice?
I was there too! The gold standard for any life performance. Without question
I was there too… my first pit … lost my shirt … got laid out by a Samoan guy
Having loved and seen minor Threat in Boston twice I can say Fugazi was a natural progression and created awesome music.
Stunning lyrics, love it
why should there be lyrics, or consider them to be missing? 🤣
We knew we were experiencing something special in the DC scene, we just didn't realize just how special it was in the moment 🤘
being young in the 90s looks so much more fun compared to the 2020
seriously one of the coolest instrumentals ever
I heard a lyric
1993 doesn't seem that long ago ,1993 was the first time i saw Fugazi live .Mckaye just turn 61 year young a few days ago! time goooo soooo fast
Yep now it's just young weird kids with country music of all things. I'll be hated for saying that

Still the best live punk band I have ever seen. It's not even close to be honest.
Not a punk band. Ian would pour his tea over your head for that comment.

I saw them in Jackson Square a homeless protest show outdoors just six months before. This was their prime.

I think I've seen footage from this show from other angles before, but wow, nice intimate close up view of what looks to be a high-energy performance (okay all of their shows are fairly high energy, having seen a couple dozen in person, but still.) This is incredible with the sound off.
Great band , i saw them in a tiny club round about then.
I was NOT ready for Ian to shout at 2:16. Scared the sh!t outta me
Just in case anyone in the crowd was still asleep or not paying attention 😝
Monumental performance for sure. Fugazi was the shit man. I am impressed with the view into the crowd from the stage. Nothing but an ocean of devout music lovers...
Absolute best band ever.
Yeah right! Lmfao
Would love to know what the girl wearing the purple top is doing now. Living her best life. Love to see it.
My man ripping on that Rickenbacker for dear life. 🤘
God that bassline is amazing. The ONE band I adore that I've never seen. It always makes me laugh that when they formed in 1988 I was going to metal gigs (Metallica Iron Maiden etc) that when you consider what they were doing in 1988/89 makes metal seem SO dinosaur-like.
I wish these guys could make a comeback but they have so much dignity, so much integrity, that I think they've had their time.
Or maybe we are in on a little secret from the universe and it’s not the majority of the worlds time *FART*
Their last tour when they played in my hometown of Houston, Texas in 2003 and fond out later that Explosions in the Sky opened for them in a venue that couldn’t have possible fit more than 500 if I had to guess, (Mary Jane’s on Washington, if anyone from their experience knows the venues capacity I’d be interested to know it but not enough to care to research it, bc I’m on mission to find a clip from the “Instrument” DVD. It’s a very short excerpt (like 8/16 bars) of Fugazi playing Brendan # 1 (or possibly #3?) live and the groove, the bass line and Ian’s funky dancing is something I recommend for all fans of this band’s rhythm section. Will post it here if I find it.
And Voila ! Here it is :

Forgot to mention Brendan’s bell also has a considerable appearance and role in the clip’s significance. Enjoy fellow Fugazi fan who were too young to be able enjoy them live. I haven’t given up 100% hope but it’s getting close ….can someone pass this along to Joe and Ian 😂
I love the Rickenbacker used for punk music. So cool.
Sooooo Muuuuuuch Taaaaaaalent
bass goes crazy
Back when the music was real and the people too.
People wouldn't shut up about how real they were at that time.😆
I was a teenager in the 90s and don't remember people being particularly "real" (whatever that means) at the time compared to now. On the contrary, young people today strike me as being more aware and politically engaged as we were back then. Most of us (me included) were still very much stuck in the capitalist mindset.
@@guillll by politically ingaged you mean activists like this trans mob who are pushing their agenda on people who want nothing to do with it and as for people being real I stand by what I've said as people these days hide in social media and lie about lots of things and don't know how to communicate face to face, you were a teenager in the nineties so you most likely didn't pay any attention to how people were back then.

Very few people will get the joke. Recently I was DJ-ing all kinds of weird punk related vinyls in a small bar wearing a „Listen to Minor Threat“ t-shirt.
