@@kodstergames Meh, just some constructive critisism I hope. As I said, props for even beginning to do this. Try to avoid making lists. Then I did this, then this happened, then this happened. The first 4 minutes of the video became more and more boring to watch because of the above problem but for example the "fresh water" part was a good interuption for it. Problem -> solution(basically low point and high point) is better than lists. "We couldn't make enough stuff so we made magma smelters" or "we needed to make stuff to trade with the caravan that comes just before winter so we..." Is more engaging than, "then we created magma smelters to create more stuff".
Just saw your vid announcement in my feed and really glad I dropped by. Very well done indeed. Hope to see more and maybe given the style a year at a time more in order. Definately a new sub well earned.
Love the video! I think you could do a longer more in depth story maybe over 3-4 videos? There is so much going on in a fort and people who watch DF videos i assume enjoy the story aspect. Keep up the great work.
Yeah! I’ve noticed a lot of people saying they’re enjoying the “story” which I just saw this as a play through where I’d narrate it a bit. The next series I’m going to pursue more of the “story” elements. I’m still deciding on what the story/lore should be for it!
This is the best Dwarf Fortress video I've seen to date. Never played it as I simply do not have the patience for it but always been intrigued by it. I really wish to see more of this stuff!
Awesome this is what I looking for, stories about the game without the grind. I mean those videos are good too but I like this format a story mode of actual game play. Great stuff.
fantastic video bro. always amazed by the stories this game facilitates. I’m scared to try n do a crazy start like this cause I know i’d fk up and kill everyone 😅
i would love a story series like that, its very fun and interesting to listen and see how things turn around, maybe it will be a great city or maybe it will be destroyed, who knows. very nice video, keep up the good work.
Hey buddy thanks for the video. Specifically it was nice that you mentioned how you did it at the end, taking you one hour to talko over the recording and those other minor metric:. Thinking about trying that myself so that helps to hear
It’s definitely a good bit of time. Now that I’ve done more and more of these style videos, I’ve been able to be more efficient with the process! Knowing when to hit the record button and only recording important moments, getting better with editing, and starting with scripts has cut down the editing process a bunch for me
Hi Kodstar, this was excellent. I think for future videos you may consider striking a balance between live time and edited. This felt too short (albeit intentional I know). I came looking for something faster than live action (so I can improve my own DF skills) but also not wanting to commit to 50+ playlist of videos.
Thank you! And honestly it’s been a blast trying to conquer that volcano. Plenty of enemies around even though I’m on an island. Not having to produce coal or coke to smelt is amazing too
It’s a very long time 😂 But I paused a lot to take notes and also explain the game to my friend on discord who just got it. The 10 year video was taken in about half the time as this one, and I think it has more story elements to it. So we’re making progress on the process !
Playing on a volcano start as a noob atm, you showing that platform factory makes my things easier, gonna build an obsidian cube now on top of the pit. Sadly the water situation is bad.
I prefer to do it. The dwarfs “bump” each other and can slow each other down just a little bit. Multiple stairs can prevent that. Also the trading wagons are 3 blocks wide ! So that always them passage
So usually, as long as you’re connected to your mountain home by land, they’ll arrive. I have no idea how they are getting to Firetalon. I received a human caravan in year one, but never again. So I do not have the answers 😂
This was great! How long did you play the fort before editing the video? Ive been having difficulty cutting a 4 hour stream into a 10 minute video without drastically speeding up clips due to how slow DF actually plays
Try watching Kruggsmash and taking a little inspiration about the pacing of how you talk. Sometimes a short stop to let the story tell itself on the screen is fine. Other than that 10/10 story.. Not bad.
I think I’ve seen that channel before! I’ll definitely take a look. I had some friends point that out too so I’ve been working on it! I’m about to start work on the 10 year video so hopefully I’ll be able to improve it. Thanks for the feedback !!
This was awesome. Highly edited DF content is so infrequent subscribed!
Thank you a ton! I appreciate that
I liked this, Dwarf Fortress is a harsh place to live. Ducim will be remembered.
Thank you for the support! Ducim will always be remembered
Subscribed this kind of content is great. I learned a lot of little tips from just watching this format
I liked it! I want to see the next 5. I liked how it didn't go on forever. Also: you are plainly skilled at the game, which is fun to watch.
Thank you so much! The next 5 is out already on my channel
I understand why this type of content is as rare as it is because it requires a lot of effort, but I love these types of videos.
It is a good bit of work! This took a bit longer than the 10 year vid because it was my first time attempting it. Thank you though!

I'm a df newbie. This story was not only entertaining but sparked ideas on different things to try

AMAZING VIDEO! SO MUCH QUALITY MAN, YOU DESERVE A LOT
Thank you!

Just found your channel and I really enjoyed the story telling and condensed style. Can't wait to check out your others!
Thank you so much! The 10 year video is out, if you haven’t checked that one out yet! Thanks again for the support
Very well done and an interesting watch. I'm looking forward to seeing more.
Thank you! The 10 year video is out already if you haven’t seen it!
Brilliant video, really stands out amongst the crowd and has earned my sub and like easily. Keep on keepin’ on!
Thank you so much! I greatly appreciate the support
Great content. Loving the edited story. Congratulation from Argentina. Suscribed, obviously.
Bravo! What a story to tell! And a heroic ending too :D

Wonderful! Keep on with the story telling. I'm looking forward to hear more from FireTalon.
Good news is, the 10 year video is already out if you haven’t seen it! And thank you!

I liked this alot. Looking forvard for more of this. Well done
Thanks!
The dwarf chopping a tree right into the volcano at the start got me for some reason lol
I just had to go look at it to see that 😂 Never noticed it while I was editing
Nice work, and an interesting story. I'm intrigued to hear more of this tale. Subscribed !

quality story telling. do what feels right brother
Thanks for the support!
Is excellent work. Good on ya. There's probably a balance between gameplay and story to be found there, 13 hours seems like a long time.

@@kodstergames Absolutely looking forward to it
That was pretty cool. Makes me wanna try DF myself.
It’s a really good game! It’s a bit of a learning curve but there’s plenty of guides and tutorials out there
This was really good! happy to sub and see what else you produce in the future.
and as i see this was a year old - will check out if there is more. i love people's narratives of DF!
Wonderful, your a hidden gem and you've earned my sub
I appreciate that a ton! Thank you for the support!
Awesome narrating! was totally sucked in to the story!
Thank you so much! The 10 year video is already out 😎 I may be a bit biased but I think the story gets even better

keep up the work! nice video
Thank you!
NICE CONTENT MAN, KEEP IT UP
Thank you for the support!!
I also have been surviving in a volcano. I hadn't been outside in a longtime, and we haven't had contact with the outside either.
This reminds me of Kruggsmash... Subbed man.
Thank you! Krugg makes awesome videos so I really appreciate the comparison! Hopefully my quality keeps going up to where Krugg is at.
@@kodstergames Glad too see you have the drive to get to his level... Hope to see you there man.
RIP Ducin, you will be missed.
Like really good I really enjoyed it Thank you
Thank you for watching! The 10 year video will be coming out very soon 👀
Well done!
Thank you!
awesome content!
Awesome video!
Great job. 🎉 you have a new sub now.
more of these please
fantastic video
Thank you!
I notice a lot of 3x3 stairwells. Is there a reason for the 3x3

Great vid. I thought that embarking on island will not give you any mogeation wave , so this was not truth? I always embark close to my civilization

Only thing that sucks about island starts is usually you get no invaders.
good stuff
Thank you!
This is great
Thank you!
Steam edition really made this game playable
Absolutely. I hadn’t even heard of it before the seam edition. Looking up what it used to be, I can’t even imagine playing it
5 yEARS?, Man I lived for 3 seconds inside of one T_T
This may blow your mind.. but the 10 year video is out 👀 That’s a whole lotta seconds
Badass
Thanks!!
@@kodstergames No, thank you for the amazing content. Your storytelling is on point.
Badass video, this is what people need to get into games like this
Thank you! I’m working on the 10 year video now so hopefully I can make it a lot better! This game is becoming my favorite of all time very quickly
