Blasphemy, Waterworld was a great movie.
Haha. I think it's more of a meme at this point. It's a way better movie than given credit.
Fun fact: It's a very popular film in Russia and most people don't know what a bad reputation it has in the world.
@@БеспонтовыйПирожок-п7б I am originally from Russian so I actually remember that fact!
Love that film!
@@БеспонтовыйПирожок-п7б I didn't knew that the movie has a bad reputation. I am from Brazil and everyone that know this movie likes it.
"Now that the boar has fucked off I can finally finish my oar"
This embodies every experience of trying to finish a project in vintage story or terraria where the mobs won't just leave you alone
Boars are normally not that big of an issue, but if piglets are involved, watch out!
Waterworld is a good movie, nobody can convince me otherwise
@@PhoenixBlade I don't disagree!
Just when I was about to boot up VS again for the first time in a while this drops. I'mma watch this while trying my own thing with all the instability ever.
Good luck on your journey!
Congrats on your 2nd new born Oscilla! Take all the time you need if a break is need. Thank you and have a great day.
I appreciate it. Vintage Story is great, but family comes first!
You dropped this vid just a day after I watched through your other 100 Days videos, this vid feels like I just got served dessert lol
@@GamerDude322 That is pretty awesome. I guess new people are still watching my older videos. It has been exactly a year since my first 100 days of Vintage Story video!
TLDR: just cuz some of your content is old doesn't mean people don't find it!
@Oscillascape with so few creators making long-form content for VS, I'd wager that everyone in the community had at least *heard* of your content.
I recommend you to friends and people I meet in game all the time and most of them have told me they've seen at least one of your VS vids.
@@zacharycabrera7410 Very cool to hear! I am sort of stuck in my own bubble, in a sense that I don't know how UA-cam pushes my videos or who watches them. I am not really into the whole analytics side of the UA-cam app. I just let my videos ride and not worry about what happens numbers wise. Keeps my sanity intact. When I first started I used to obsess about the numbers. Also the fact that people recommend my videos outside of UA-cam is wild!
I personally really enjoy your content, I think it's entertaining, and definitely is a nice change of pace over the mountain of 100-days MC content people make.
I think what you have going right now is good! Keep up the amazing work! And don't let the community drag you down, I've seen what constantly trying to appease audiences does to UA-camrs, dont let any of that negativity get to you and keep being awesome!
@@zacharycabrera7410 Thanks I appreciate nice words and the advice. I mostly just do my own thing. I try not to pay attention to trends, numbers and such. I barely have enough mental bandwidth to keep up with my own life.
Excellent video as always. I really enjoy these challenges you give yourself (though they sound like a LOT of work!).
Couple tips for next time:
1) You can make an early-game door with an axe, some logs, and some sticks, to make a safe haven before you get to copper!
2) I saw you fumbling with your torch the first time you went into water. There's a hotkey to swap your torch to your other hand, as long as it's empty. I think the default key is X.
3) You can make your farming a bit more space-efficient (and therefore time-efficient) by doing 1 row of water, 2 rows of farm, 1 row of water, and so on (as long as the outer row is always water). All the farmland will be hydrated to the maximum.
4) You can cut glass with a saw, so you could make your skylight out of glass slabs to save on materials if you wanted!
Hope you find these helpful, and good luck with your 2nd kid. I'm in the same boat here!
@@Kurazarrh Hey Kurazarrh! Always honored to get a comment from you. Feels surreal everytime.
1. I know about the door. I realized I didn't care to make one since I already had my foot out of the door so to speak. I knew the small island wasn't going to be my primary residence.
2. That's a useful tip. Wouldn't prevent me from dowsing the torch, but super useful for quick swapping it when you have to do it fast.
3. I think I knew that. It's a force of habit for me to do rows since that's how things are planted in real life and as someone who likes to grow stuff, it comes as second nature.
4. I know about the saw, but completely forgot that it was a thing at the time. Thanks for the reminder. Good luck with your second kid too! I am super excited, but of course that means even less personal time:) but kids are worth it.
@@Oscillascape Also you mentioned that papyrus doesn't require water, contrary to cattails. Well akchually 🤓 they both don't require water to be planted.
@@cattsythekitty Yes multiple people already had mentioned this. The more you learn!
"Island challenge"
Immediately starts building a flying sky base
Flying only in the beginning. Keep watching, the base makes perfect sense by the end. Also it's literally in the middle of the ocean on a tiny sandbar:)!
@@Oscillascape It does very much start-up by looking like a Skyblock base though, lol.

@@resemblelife Thanks, it's an exciting moment but also one where shit shit the fan:)!
I saw your new video and got really excited. I love your 100 day challenges, I've watched them all several times now. I've tried to play water world in Vintage story, but it's no go for me. It makes me super uneasy having that much dark, deep water under me even on a raft. I have a normal world though, with Plains and Valleys mod, really love that btw, with over 120 hours in it. It's been long (in game) months in winter, I thought, in my wisdom that 20 day months would be fun... Yeah, sure... Fun.
I understand the primal fear of the ocean. The ocean is to be respected! Glad you found a world that is a little more soothing though.
randomly found your channel on my FYP and watched all , game looks great and i enjoyed your gameplay good job !
Thank you so much. Glad you liked my stuff. I am actively working on more content!
This was awesome, but man it's so crazy that you build all of this and then leave it behind afterward. Obviously, it's a preference and playstyle. But I would love to see a world you develop over 500 days or something.
@@bucururomaki3663 I have a world I will be working on long term. Already put 200 days into it, 300 days sometime this year!
Actually neither cattails nor papyrus require water to grow, you just can plant them on soil or muddy gravel without a water source near them . ;) Still a great challenge, i have to try it out for myself. But I will probably wait till 1.20 drops. Better oceans, extended rafts and vanilla sailboats seem quite appropriate for this challenge. :)
@@McLenwe I swear I tried planting cattails in regular soil outside of water and it didn't work. I trust you though! Waiting on 1.20 is a good plan. I always seem to do things right before major things drop, like two thirst mods for desert survival and ships in the next update!
Yeah you don’t need water for them. I got confused by your comment in the video and went to see what others said.
Man, I keep seeing stuff about Vintage Story floating around. Neat video, might get the game.
It's fantastic. A bit slower and grindier than Minecraft, but makes up for it with immersion and atmosphere.
I definitely love seeing island builds, and even more interesting for it to be in Vintage Story. That windmill design and the structure it's built in was such an appealing and homely look, I absolutely loved your architecture.
@@kanseidorifto2430 Thanks! I came a long way from building dirt shacks in Minecraft to actually designing decently looking builds.

This is my second favourite 100 days challenge so far, right after the arctic one.
All this sailing just added something fresh to the gameplay I usually don't experience. Maybe I should also do a playthrough in a water/ocean world map with the next update with the new Boats...
@@Daniel-uo5lm I think the ocean adds a lot to the experience. They need boats and maybe a bit more ocean content. From now on, I feel like when I am generating new seeds. I will try to include some ocean.

Regular dirt for natural grass inside an animal pen is a horrible idea, well considering you are in the middle of the ocean it might not be an issue, because wolves and bears can spawn on grass... ask Solstin how many times he's had to replace his sheep because of a bear spawning in the enclosure... its up to like 3 times now.

I don't think so. I had this idea for over a year. This kind of stuff has been done many times in Minecraft already, so none of this stuff is truly original. "Being stranded on an island appealed to me." No, it didn't. Stories about it may have appealed to you, but go ahead and try it in real life and never get back to me how you felt about it because you would soon die (possibly by suicide).
@@chaosordeal294 Fair point. I just meant a romanticized book/movie narrative of being stranded on the island appealed to me. I would not want to actually experience it in real life.
If you enjoy this game you should check out Haven and Hearth by Seatribe. Great video, and I'm going to have to check out this game.
Fun Fact: Bears are very much so NOT shit swimmers in real life! In fact, they are so much better swimmers than you that your chances of survival drop dramatically in water!
Always remember your colors:
If it's black, fight back! Yell a bunch! Look big! NEVER turn your back on them! If they have a cub in tow, spare your voice the effort and just back away slowly!
If it's brown, lay down! Lay flat on your belly, and put your hands over your neck! Do this slowly, so as not to bait them into charging! Once you're on the ground, stay quiet and pray to your entity of choice that the bear isn't hungry enough to go after a bony human!
If it's white, say good night! If a polar bear wants you for lunch, you WILL be had for lunch! Don't bother praying, no god can save you! Your only savior will be The Car! The ONLY way to survive a polar bear attack is to HUNKER DOWN in a vehicle or building!
Afterwards, spare a penny for General Motors, for they are the ones that cursed North America with the filthy plague that is Car-Centered Design!

These 100 days videos seem cheaty. You are not pulling off these large builds in every video in survival w/o spawning stuff in, especially with how much you bumble around early game. This seems like trendy scripted reality tv show style content.
Interesting take. I don't really have much to prove to you, but terabytes or recorded footage are saying otherwise. I don't know how I can prove that I do indeed build everything by hand outside of posting 70 hours of raw footage. I guess take my word on it. There is a reason it takes me two months to make a single video. I have not spawned or used creative to get materials. Everything you see is indeed hand built by me in the 100 day game span. Playing the game is the primary hobby. If I use creative you will see me openly state that, like in my next video I am working on. I like playing the game, I like grinding, building these things by hand gives me satisfaction. Cheating here, would be cheating on my sense of accomplishment. Look, I know you won't believe me. But just to motivate you, I promise everything here is done in the timeframe and realistically buildable, because well...I built it.
@@Oscillascape My apologies then. I can't get how you make such large structures so quickly in spite of drifters, rifts, crop, animal, and sapling growth times, plus seed gathering and deaths. I've seen other 100 day vintage story vids from other people and they dont get so far along with huge bases in tough spots.
@@phalanyx3478 Not sure. 100 days is around 75 hours of game time. I tend to have a full iron kit 20 hours in, that's 50+ hours to gather materials and build. I don't consider my Vintage Story builds that excessive for my challenges, all under 10k blocks. I have been building mega structures for years in Minecraft before transitioning to Vintage Story. You get better at these things.
