I love the sound of James's guitar in the beginning
Multi Kody It’s a 12 string.
It's sounds good cause of the octaves
Miss that double-neck explorer
Johanson Fernandes Dude Same
Johanson Fernandes Same
Saved my ass back in Montreal I'll tell you what .
Don't we all
I love when he says I can not stand this hell I feel
That part is better than the studio version
I love how even though was burned he they still used the flames James=Badass
Half way through the black album tour, James blew his voice. That is why he sings differently
joezygamingYT why are you commenting stuff that’s irrelevant to the original post
+jaymz
because he has brown eyes and a pet cat, obviously
@@jofusnufc841 he wasn't talking about the vocals he was talking about the accident in Montreal with the flame thrower
@@juliancumming6893 think i know that 3 years on dude
That drumroll before the verse begins again is waaay faster than he plays it today! Awsome!!
Drugs my man
@@Jarnevc i knew someone was going to say something about drugs lol
Those drums were crisp. He was firing on all cylinders here.
I think James is the most underrated guitar players in history as he's lead singing and playing this at the same time... Amazing
James Hetfield and underrated?
@@ITheNightmare yeah. As a guitar player. Only.
The solo never gets old... amazing ...
Metallica puts power even in slower songs it's amazing
Absolutely love the sound quality of this Basel show.
Welcome Home (Sanitarium) is Fade to Black's little brother
Best Metallica's power ballad ever.
Metallica make me feel good every time !!!!
man, kirk nailed that opening solo, amazing
greatest of all time this band never gets old my fav got me through tough times !!! love u guys
how i love this song...one of the very few songs that never get old...
that double neck is great
i want one
Jason Newstead was great on bass
Great Show! Basel 1993. I have the double Disc Live at the stadium. Great Sound!
I was 12 days old when this concert took place
I love this song
This is the gig where James ripped the compression sleeve off his burned hand to reveal a metal endoskeleton shrouded underneath.
what?! James plays on double neck guitar?! I was surprised!!
You can really hear tiredness here in James voice...too bad that voice can change soo much over the years.
Think about how much they toured from 91-93 i think that would explain it a great deal
he was sick during this show
Isaac White not to mention he was also exhausted.
Fade to Black is a beautiful song, but somehow metallica screws it up alot, notable ones would be:
1. Pyro accident that ended the show (1992)
2. James messing up the lyrics (2004)
3. James failing to switch guitar tunes (Rock in Rio)
4. Kirk's guitar issue (Seoul 2006), well... actually that one made the song sound better with the longer intro
you've named 4 instances in which they've fucked the song up live. yet they've probably played it on more than 1000 occasions. doesn't seem fair for you to have used the words "a lot" in there.
And Fade to Black is Jason's last performance song
they've played Fade To Black 1095 times live and out of the almost 1100 times 4 are nothing.
Crazy Psycho bro. how long did it take you to do that.
Link Velasquez take me to do what?
@Ramos022 Because it got burned up when James got engulfed in flames in Montreal. He does have a new one, I seen it on youtube from the latest tour, made by Ken Lawrence.
Que som é esse cara? É de arrepiar!❤🤘🤘
O mundo devia escutar mais isso cara....
Jason.on fire
am i the only one that thinks modern day fade to black is better than early fade to black?
@mbd303030
NO, It was destroyed when james was blown up by the pyro accident.
Aumenta que isso e rock and roll !
Kirk can never get the Dimebag squeals!!!
Imo:
Metallica were at their peak of live performances around this time- early 90s.
Yes, with Mr. Newsted. Apart from Cliff, he was the best bass player for Lars...who is an annoying drummer who tends to speed up.
Newsted would keep Ulrich in check, and keep him tighter.
Trujillo does not do this. If Lars is allowed to go up his own ass, then he speeds up.
Awesome guitar solo dude that's bad ass
Metallica FOREVER!!!!
3:02: nice fill Lars
Escuchar esta hermosa canción y que se te ponga la piel de gallina y esa extráña sensación de sentimiento y melancolía dentro de tu interior..!! #Metallicawillneverdie 😎👊🤘👊🔥💀
@rahat1967
your right, i did not notice the date. strange, i had never seen another one after the accident.
@MrTheEdrybobzeela The crowd wasn't silent. The show was recorded directly from the band's microphones/amps. Basiclly what you hear from the crowd I believe would be anything that coems through the microphones.
James had a pyrotechnical accident before this show
No, that was almost a year before this show.
Was the brace on James's left hand a bandage after the accident in 1992?
+Metallic Ultron He covered the burn marks. Check on google what burns do to the skin, you'll sure want to hide them
I know I'm 2 years late with this reply lol but James had to cleanse and redress his hand everyday and wear an elasticized net glove on his hand for 6 months to minimize the scarring on his hand
@@nikitaind62 he wear the tattoos because he hate that scars
@@juanantoniocarmonacamacho3344 how bout them painers
@@BlackenedJustice I know I'm 3 years late but I'd think he was done doing that by the time of this show, considering this was almost a year after he got burned.
best guitar eva
Отличный концерт сыграли. один из лучший в Европе. Jason Nested the best.
cuando metallica estaba en sus mejores tiempos
its my favorite song

Que buena epoca Metallica!!!!
@blew198 tx alot m8
now I will just say goodbye oooayyooo ya ya yeah
What´s that on his neck at 4:17. The thing on his hand is from the pyro accident in august '92, but he never had anything on his neck.
Me: enters to video
0:00 kirk solo scares the fuck out of me😂
actually, james doesn`t play this song whit this double neck guitar, he plays whit two guitars, an acoustic and an electric, like the studio version.....
The 12string guitar is awesome
Me: struggles to play the verse riff
James: 1:51
@killemall1983 wasnt the accident in 92, are you sure he didnt get it rebuilt, and retire it or sumthin
He's not making fun, he's just pointing out that Kirk Wahmet is a badass
I think he got nervous about the flames and started playing faster because of it
No dislikes!?! How is this possible!? HELL YEAA!
i have some bad news
I WAS ME BUT NOW HE'S GONE YEAAH YEAAAAH HEY!!!
@MrTheEdrybobzeela soundboard recording... GOD
Agreed. The Nimes version is incredible.
James' 12 string sounds fucking amazing!
Double Extra Sensory Power :)
@Ramos022
Because it got destroyed when he got blown up.
James to Kirk “I have a burnt hand and playing a 12 string, whats your excuse?”
:O kirk magically changed guitar :) he is class lol
lets make a drinking game of this. when you hear yeeeah drink .
Ať si kdo chce říká.Metallica je Metallica.
i got an explorer guitar thanks to james =)
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
yessss oyesss
OOOOOH FUCK YEEEEAAAH
0:00 = woah
he had just gotten torched playin this exact song in late 92', someone correct me if my dates are wrong..im buzzzing youtubin 'TallicaAAAAA!!!!
@tallicAgrl9051 Born in the wrong decade too, sad but true.
@rahat1967 oh he may have
@lukaa9 buy using a Double neck 12 string guitar .
@Ramos022 Unfortunatly , the double neck guitar is broken...
Kirk kinda looks like Jimi Hendricks at beginning
satyam sharma Hendrix*
Kirk Hammett's guitar solo has a low voice. But very nice performance.
this was b4 they started tuning down a half step
I fucking want that guitar....
at 1:57 james winks look super close at his right eye
what happened to James voice its sounds like he's losese his voice
2+ years on the road by the time of this show, 2 1/2 hour shows, it's hard on a singer, no matter who it is. People forget the massive touring they did for that album, plus he blew his voice out during the recording of the black album.
His voice started to die around 1993 (he had a few good shows in 1994) and at the end of 1995 and the beginning of 1996 he had is voice back, he lost it again in 1997, and his voice in 1998/1999 was awesome again not really the same as the black album but kinda raspy too, in 2000 i don't know what happend but he sounds like shit again, 2003 well i liked his voice there too it reminds me of his black album voice en his 1999 voice. But after or before 2003 he stopped drinking alcohol, and his voice became higher en weak. 2004 was his weakest year imo. and 2008 was a great year too for james, his voice sounded like his 1999 voice, and in 2009 he started singing clean again, and in 2012 he got his grit back but he lost it again in 2013. and now in 2016 he sounds awesome. James has some rasp back
+RickGrimes41
Did you study james voice in school or something lol
He was realy sick at this concert
Hey Satriani used it all the time aswell... i don't hear you complaining about him?
Or even Dimebag Darrel did use it alot aswell...
I want that double neck so bad
This is how I felt when my dog died
How did they get that sound in the intro (the clean one, James) ???
the top part james is playing on his guitar has 12 strings so it sounds nicer
Notice how james is at the front of the stage, not the back.
James's voice is really fucked up here.Still awesome tho !
the growls werent that bad, they werent great, but they werent terrible, but his singing was rough
the double explorer lol
What is im watching james with double exploler
หรอยหน๊าดดดหลวกเมทเห้อ! 🤘
the fuck, that solo at the begining, now we can actually say that from 00:00 till 07:06 was fucking EPIC XD
I fucking LOVE that double neck explorer. Looks huge but who cares! It is fucking awesome and i want one! Get on it ESP or Gibson!!!!
Lars Ullrich was a good drummer that time...
@alex41893 actually his voice was better in early 91 and middle 92 but it soon vanished
@Ramos022 He still does
damn...
Anyone knows when exactly Metallica did start playing in E flat? Just before Load or after? Thanks.
Tomás Valladares im pretty they started playing in eb in 1995
1995 or 1996
I was wondering, why cant you hear the crowd in this recording?
This recording is of the instruments and mics only
You don't hear the crowd because they are not being loud! This is Switzerland after all. The Swiss are very reserved people. They may jump around a lot but they are just not very vocal.
What's more deadlier than a battlefield? A minefield? NO James Hetfield!
Does Kirk still do those improvised solos between songs anymore?
they like to change things around
