    This is one of the First and Best Classic Dungeon crawler games Ever ! it has all the Classic Elements of the Dungeons and Dragons mechanics,this brings back so many great memories from it back when no maps and saves anywhere were available ! talk about hard core you could die in a Random encounter or trap and loose a huge deal of time and progress ! not to mention i would draw maps on squared paper so as not to get lost.

    • @LordFentonGaming

      The first The Bard's Tale I and Ultima 3 was mine. Pretty great games back in the day and you had to use special grid paper to map things out. It was all memory and if you did do it wrote things down so you won't get lost. I am glad newer players get to experience what we all did without the writing stuff down.

    • @greggwigen8196
      @greggwigen8196 3 роки тому +1

      @@LordFentonGaming It's true. In the original series (dating myself) the mapping was great, but if you missed a teleport, or if you spilled jam on your graph paper it made for a looooong re-do. The good part was that after you got your maps done, you could draw a highlighted path so you knew exactly how to get through. But you STILL had to do a scry site now and then to make sure you had your bearings right.
      Then in BT3, they implemented a poor-man's auto mapping but the remastered version is MUCH better and truly makes the game playable for those of us who are a bit older and saddled with more stuff to do on the weekend than just spend hours and hours mapping. Huge improvement.

    • @LordFentonGaming
      @LordFentonGaming  3 роки тому

      @@greggwigen8196 The Original happened to me when I was a kid with mis-mapping the Catacombs trapped area. Still came back with this auto-mapping system and won. BT 3 wasn't easy on auto mapping and the Remastered own it. I agree with you on the huge improvements.

    Checking back in. I went back and played BT1 and I managed to beat the burger easter egg. I needed 3 monks with -39 AC and I before I started the battle I had my bard play lucklaren. That helped the fighters survive the first wave of spells thrown at them. In the 1st round I stacked another lucklaren and 2 anma spells from my casters to make sure. I had all my front line guys defend and I had my rogue (slot 4) hide. This gets you through the entire 1st round of combat without any damage and at that point you are free from concern about future magical attacks.
    2nd round, I continue to defend (probably overcautious at this point, but it worked.) and I had my bard increase party AC with Traveller's Tune. In round 2 I had my spellcasters throw out a couple MIBLs. That will soften the group up and put you in a position to begin weeding them out.
    Round 3, the fighters finally get into the action. I kept my bard hidden and just attacked with my 3 monks. I also let my bard wreak havoc by using his frost drum on the groups. This continues for a few rounds.
    Between frost drums (frost horn, whatever you want to use), MIBLs and your monk attacks you wipe out the first group with nary a scratch. And you get some very nice XP and gold for your efforts. But don't get complacent. Those sneaky Tarjan Priests have another 4 groups of 99 up their sleeves and the 2nd group is rougher than the first.
    However, if you've got -39 AC on your front three and your roque is adept at hiding, you are golden. Your long-term lucklaren is still playing so you get the benefit and therefore manage to avoid the first wave of spells that this new group will throw at you and the melee attacks can't touch you. Repeat the early battle steps from before, stack Lucklaren and a couple ANMA spells, then in round 2 throw on a Traveller's Tune to beef up your AC so they can't get in a lucky shot, and you pretty much have it in the bag.
    At the end of the 2nd battle you get MORE AC and Long Green, and the Priests, in an attempt to salvage their shattered dignity admonish you to NEVER say that word again.

    If leveled high enough in bt1, rouges could disarm chests traps for free and at the very least, even in legacy mode, critically hitting from shadows is amazing in of itself

    • @LordFentonGaming
      @LordFentonGaming  4 роки тому +3

      I think awhile ago they patched it if your rogue is high they automatically disarm it which owns and I tend to over level in these games to see the benefits. As for Hide in Shadows it owns.

    There was also a bug (I'm guessing) in the original Bard's Tale (I hope this doesn't have), when you were say a 10th level conjurer or magician (whatever level you needed or past it to cast the maximum spell level of that class) and switched classes to a new one, it would treat your spells as if you were a 1st level caster and not take into account your levels as your previous class, So I noticed my dragon breath and starflare and shock sphere spells were repelling off creatures as if I was a 1st level conjurer or magician again, same with wizard and sorcerer

    • @LordFentonGaming
      @LordFentonGaming  Рік тому

      If memory serves me right I believe the devs behind the remastered version fixed many bugs. They also fixed many exp loopholes too (IE foes summoning at a certain fort for unlimited exp to the BT 3's extreme exp gain after completing an early on dungeon). That bug sounds really bad from the original version

    does the remastered Thief of Fate have the glitch that the original game had where every time you walk into the Tent where you gain levels with a 1st lvl character you get a level and a half? the wind oger counted as a 1st lvl for the purposes of the glitch.

      If I remember they fix it. They also "Fixed" the unlimited 4 X 99 Barbarians into one shot unless Legacy mode, also fixed the Brockter where you let them keep on summoning and you keep them alive while you knock their summons for 600k+ xp per battle. Not sure if Legacy mode did unfix some of those. Still Remastered edition did some xp fixes. Really easy to get xp if your farming a certain dungeon for goods.
