Oh, my, Lou! You continue to provide us with automotive eye candy with this fine vehicle. It is so over the top that it is stunning to behold. This color just works even if red doesn't always translate well in a luxury vehicle. You continue to offer one of the most compelling automotive video channels as you feature a wide variety of vehicles and you bring to the screen vehicles that are often long forgotten that need to be revisited. Thank you for all you do and best wishes for the rest of the year!

Despite being so well known and iconic in design, the fins still are shockingly tall. Very wild and extreme design.
I’m glad that they did it! It definitely is of the era and it’s fitting that the peak 1950s car came in 1959. Way to send of the decade in style.
    Thanks Lou!

The cars of the 1950s had great styling and were works of art. Also the late 1950s was the era of the large decorative tail fins. The 1959 Cadillac had the best looking most stylish tail fins of that time.

You can just google "1959 Cadillac stolen, Reward"...I have so much childhood memories in the 59 Cad.....It would be wonderful if i can buy this one you have showcased here, and ill give it to my dad...Please ask the owner if its for sale...Thank You

Another one of Harley J. Earle's "Swansong" cars! 1959 was the year that he went into retirement, and his designs for GM were the most flamboyant. The 1959 Cadillac was the most radical design, next to the Chevrolet that same year. The Cadillac had some cool features and the 390 CI engine provided plenty of horsepower to move that big body down the road. Being at an indoor venue, you couldn't hardly hear the engine perform. A beautiful car indeed!

Thank you for showcasing this beautiful car. There are cars that are classic and there are cars that are iconic, this is the latter. I started to appreciate the cars of the 1950s when I was a young child in the 60s. Although the '57 Chevy is my all time favorite, the '59 Cadillac is a close second.

You have a nice lean Dad bod Lou ! Years ago the owner of our local Handy Andy type store was Loretta. This was before 7-11 arrived in town. She drove the same type of '59 Caddy. . It was white with a black and white interior. Her small house and yard here in Washington State was fixed up Hollywood style with palm trees. What a chrome laden boat! I didn't realize they could put the aftermarket air conditioning blower unit in the trunk. I don't see the air intake scoops outside the rear window? I thought by 1959 GM had moved A/C unit "plumbing" to the front on all their cars. It was Rambler that first consolidated all A/C components up front in 1955. If you every do a 50's or early 60's Rambler with factory air video please let me know. They had lids on the dashboard you propped up for cold air.🌴

My late uncle Gene in central Florida had a 59 Cadillac Series 62 4 Dr flat top.. Back in 1969 he owned a trucking company and one of his drivers called him to tell him his truck broke down ------- in Georgia. My uncle wasn't about to pay a shop in Georgia to check it over and fix it so he put a tool kit in the trunk of his 59 Caddy and drove to where the truck was at in Georgia from where he lived between Sanford and Orlando Florida, only to find the truck threw a rod and he wasn't about to rebuild it where it was and he had a parts truck with a good engine at home. He didn't want to pay for a tow truck to tow it that far, and didn't want to drive home, get the other engine and drive back to Georgia and have a shop put in the engine so decided to try to tow it home with his Caddy. It was a long, slow trip home pulling that semi back home but somehow he made it. A week later the generator went out and he parked it in his front yard to wait to get fixed. It was still waiting to be fixed in that same spot in 1980 when it was moved to his sons property Where it remains to this day ---- or should I say where what is left of it remains to this day. It rusted away so bad plus sank into the ground to the point of being nonexistent all the way up to the beltline chrome. They removed the hood from it because the body had dropped so much the engine was buckling the hood because cast iron doesn't rust away as fast as regular steel does. That Florida car is truly the rustiest car I have ever seen, and I live up in the rust belt in northeastern MinneSNOWta.

Super cool car, and the fact that it hasn't had a 100 point restoration is perfectly fine. Amusing to note the owner's wearing a Lexus hat, that make perhaps being the antithesis of a 1959 Cadillac.

¡Saludos cordiales, Lou!

1959 Cadillac Series 62. The Series 62 would be introduced as the successor to the Series 61 in the 1940s (Early 1940s if I remember correctly) and was positioned to be below the Eldorado and was an entry level luxury car. The most infamous model years would be the late 1950s into the early 1960s (1959-1963) for their unique tailfins, which also applied to other cars such as the Eldorado, DeVille and Fleetwood 60 / Fleetwood 75. These tailfins were applied for many positive reasons, such as how they reduced aerodynamic efficiency or drag coefficient (By a certain margin, that is) and how it attracted customers easily/made Cadillacs more distinctive and recognizable.
In order to tell the difference between a Series 62 and an Eldorado, look at the sides. The Series 62 had a metal trim on the sides while the Eldorado did not. Same thing applies for the DeVille series. The Coupe DeVille never had a metal trim, while the Sedan DeVille had a metal trim.

I love it. I've always loved the `59 Caddies, but every GM brand put out awesome cars in `59. Way back in 1983 I came really close to buying a `59 Sedan DeVille flat top, but my parents wouldn't let me have it because of some rust behind the wheels and a bent control arm. Oh well. I just admire them now.

Tell the owner to consider putting in an electric pusher fan on the front side of the a/c condenser. That will really help the engine driven puller fan on the back side of the radiator in stop and go traffic and thus, enhance the overall performance of the a/c system. But that is only if the owner is not concerned about having an original parts car with no aftermarket upgrades.

In the early 80's my best friend inherited the 'almost' same car in a 1959 Pink Cadillac convertible from his grandmother in Miami. Best thing about the car was it had a Florida personalized plate 'FLORA' from 1959. Steve used to troll the clubs in Houston and Austin back in the day when SRV played local for peanuts, I was often along for the ride. Steve went on to collect XK-E's and I morphed into a Packard guy. Brings back memories .... Great car and gets up to 15 mph. Cheers -
