Proud '80s brat here, and I had the Supreme Fortune of seeing them a few times in concert, absolutely incredible the energy, the flow, truly foundational to Hip Hop ❤
I live in the East Village NYC- when MCA passed away they projected a picture of him on the wall of a building a block away from me- they played some Beastie Boys - and they kept it up there every night for about a week. So sad when he died. 😢
Top 5 for Beastie Boys is just about impossible. They got so many good ones. One thing I know is that PROFESSOR BOOTY has to be one of them. Each one has their own verse and MCA absolutely kills it in the third verse. Another great one is HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER.
I'm old. Like Beastie Boys. My favorite band of all time bar none. They were a huge part of my life for so long. New albums, concerts and amazing songs flowed like favors. Blessings to Adam Yauch and the people that loved him. He was an insanely special person. How I wish he could still be here with us. I'm so glad that you can hear them now, and appreciate what they did, and that nobody else has been able to do since. Listen to them, enjoy, but remember, there's 11 albums and lots of specialty tracks that you have to hunt to find. I will not risk affecting your opinion by sharing any favorites, but enjoy the ride young man. I look forward to checking out your reactions. BTW, the BASS on your intro gave me the damn shivers. Holy smokes. Another level. B-E-A-S-T-I-E Aw Yeah, that's me.
Awesome reaction! Beasties are just too great of a band, their back and forth is second to none. Top tracks High Plains Drifter, Car Thief, Hey Ladies, Rhymin' N Stealin, Jimmy James. Greetings from Wisconsin
yeah its true the beasties made timeless beats. people 300 years in the future will be studying the beasties beats like they look at shakespeare today.
There'll never be another group like Beastie Boys. Like you said: the drip, the visuals, the beats, the rhymes and flows... They did it their way... Toooooo many songs to even try to list 5 (plus, can't remember which you've done)... Glad you're digging them, though... Cheers!
If you’re a hip hop head you gotta listen to Pauls Boutique all the way through. Masterpiece is production, beats and samples, flow and concept. It was a bigger-picture type of album and in 1989 most weren’t ready for it.
Beastie Boys - BBoys In The Cut, Beastie Boys - B-Boy Bouillabaisse, Beastie Boys - Triple Trouble, Beastie Boys - Ricky's Theme, Beastie Boys - Alive, Beastie Boys - Looking Down The Barrel Of A Gun, High Plains Drifter, Bodhisattva Vow
I love the beat on this one. Their flows are great on it, and the old school vibe of basically rapping about rapping. Definitely a top 5 song for me, contender for top 1. The one bass part on this was also sampled by Dre around the same time, seems to be a coincidence. The weird flute sample at the beginning and the Bad Brains guitar sample are huge parts of this for me though, and I think there’s some live Beastie Boys original instrumentation on this.
Top 5 . . . . almost impossible- Soo many to choose from ?! B-Boy Bouillabaisse Car Thief Finger Lickin Good Shake Your Rump Shadrach Root Down Egg Man Skills To Pay The Bills Hey Ladies Sure Shot So Whatcha Want Negotiation Limerick File Remote Control Alive Too Many Rappers-featuring Nas- Well, I got it down to top 15 . . . . Sub from AZ,, grew up outside of NYC - Beastie fan since '82 RIP MCA 😞
each of their albumns had at least 7 gound-breakingly great songs on them so it's kinda impossible to narrow it down to 5... gotta have them all, like a well-rounded diet like the doctors talk about... truly a tragedy that MCA died cuz they were still coming up with great new sounds as they aged and got even wiser and more blessed
Shit, top 5.. Sure shot Get it together Slow and low Paul reverre So whatcha want The entire Ill communication album, even the punk tracks I generally don’t fuck with, but the album is a journey.
ya, synergy is the right word. Their transitions between each other and different sounds are just flawless and smooth. They play off each other like no other group. The BB's were masters of rap. So strange that 3 white jewish guys from NYC did the whole enchilada and captured the essence of rap at the time and influence so many others. It was just meant to be like a miracle.
BARS!!! These guys are legends and were ahead of their time. I strongly suggest another flavor = "Gratitude" from Check your head. I can't say top 5 because they have a thousand tunes! High Plains Drifter is man-da-tory and Bouillabaisse is ridiculous and is 5 songs in one!
Been a Huge Beasties Fan since License to ill Dropped in 85-86 or so. Lovvvvve the Beastie Boys. #LEGENDS. sooo many great songs. Check out, Finger Lickin Good or Shame in Your game, just to randomly name a couple Great songs
I don't know if you've done these, but my top 5 3 MCs and 1 DJ High Plains Drifter (lyrics meh, but the musicality is level 100) Wat'cha Want Make some Noise Shake Your Rump
My personal top 5: Paul Revere High Plains Drifter Sounds of Science Come Together So Watcha Want Ask me tomorrow and at least 2 or 3 of those might get knocked out for something else. Lots of gems in their catalog.
i think the word you were looking for is telepathy--they were such tight friends (from way back in their punk rock days) that they clearly became telepathic, like all of the greatest bands/groups--they were of the same mind. this is why their ability to rap together in complex patterns was so over the top and unusual. the only group even remotely close in quality and impact is public enemy. maybe wu tang. everyone else pales in comparison. my recommendation for next track: shadrach.
I always thought that MCA's voice was the best for rap. He sounded like that one guy your parents warn you not to hang out with because he was trouble. But his real personality was the exact opposite of that. Ad Rock always sounded like that annoying kid brother who would drive you crazy. But his real personality was the exact opposite of that. And Mike D just sounded like some dude, nothing special, just there. But his real personality was the exact opposite of that.
Yeah, I really like the studio version... But at the 'Live in Glasgow' performance, MixMaster Mike obliterates the mix for 'Finger Lickin Good' song performance, as well... Also, another few songs that reactors don't seem to do often: Skills To Pay The Bills Open Letter To NYC Car Thief Negotiation Limerick File Alive Shadrach Egg Man 3 Minute Rule *Beastie For Life* RIP 😔 MCA
Actually, DJ Hurricane was their DJ for their first four albums, this track included. Hurricane has a more classic style compared Mix Master Mike. MM Mike came a group called Invisibl Skratch Piklz.
This track is dope, but it's not bar heavy at all. It's just a vibe. I think they put a ton of energy into producing unique sounds on this track and album.

As a 40 year hip-hop head it really warms my heart to see young fellas recognize the beastie boys. One of the true goats of hip-hop groups
Proud '80s brat here, and I had the Supreme Fortune of seeing them a few times in concert, absolutely incredible the energy, the flow, truly foundational to Hip Hop ❤

Beastie Boys are actual musicians, avid musical listeners of many genres and are fun, talented and timeless. RIP Yauch, MCA ❤
What's another word for Pirate treasure?
@@ThomasTallant Well, I think it's BOOTY
"Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun"
❤️ Beastie Boys.. I'm Jamie and my top 5 songs from these guys are:

Rip Adam Yauch. 🤘🏻❤️🔥
Great reaction brother.
Their chemistry was nearly perfect, the way they threw it back and forth to each other was flawless...R.I.P. MCA ❤
I gotta say, nothing like the Beastie Boys style of clothing back in the day. God they were just so cool. Look at Ad-Rock's shirt! Love it
All of Paul's Boutique, Check your head
Awesome reaction! Beasties are just too great of a band, their back and forth is second to none. Top tracks High Plains Drifter, Car Thief, Hey Ladies, Rhymin' N Stealin, Jimmy James. Greetings from Wisconsin
Just found ya, LOVE that you pulled up the lyrics! Their lyrics are tough to figure out, they are all over the place with cultural references....
Great reaction. Thanks for the details friend.
yeah its true the beasties made timeless beats. people 300 years in the future will be studying the beasties beats like they look at shakespeare today.

"Synergy"....I think you're on to something there for sure. Nailed it!

The "ad" in Adrock's name is short for Adam, his given name.
Their dynamics are on point. I thin synergy is the right word. The 3 together are greater than the sum of their parts.
This album was 1992 so they didn't have mix master mike at this time pretty sure it was DJ hurricane
Hurricane. Mario Caldato was their producer.
DJ Hurricane ... From the famed Hollis Crew ... Incredible DJ...
MixMaster Mike, well, he is on a level of his own...
High planes drifter and b-boy bouillabaisse are must listens
You said it all..."SNERGY" OR "SYMMETRY".. AND YES.. THEY WERE "MEANT" TO BE...
Top 5 . . . .
almost impossible- Soo many to choose from ?!
B-Boy Bouillabaisse
Car Thief
Finger Lickin Good

Yes MCA's flow is different, one of the most underrated ever
Looking Down The Barrel Of A Gun
❤️🔥

Shit, top 5..
Sure shot
Get it together
Slow and low
Paul reverre

The entire Ill communication album, even the punk tracks I generally don’t fuck with, but the album is a journey.
It's it's it's the bbbbbbboyz
1) "Too many rappers" ;
2) "Hey Fuck You" ;
3) "B-Boys Makin' with the Freak Freak" ;
4) "Pass the Mic
";
5) "Gratitude."
RAH check out Beastie Boys HD : Sabotage ( David Letterman ) - 1994. Watch them jam on their instruments.
their technique is PERFECT
It’s a lyrical 3 man weave.
Synergy is the absolute right word.
Synergy is the correct term, and they embody synergy. All 3 are better together then they are apart.
ya, synergy is the right word.
BIG CLASSIC / LEGENDARY / REAL HIP HOP / BIG RESPECT / OLD SCHOOL REPRESENT / F*CK NEW SKOOL
This is a Dr. Dre beat! Dre liked it so much, he used it for "A N****a Wit A Gun" 8 months later...
If you want to see them play there instruments check out "Gratitude" it is a Pink Floyd tribute to there " Echoes part 1" live in Pompeii video
Synergy is the perfect word!
I really dig how you put the lyrics down in your own style
The synergy is the word.
You gotta do their song "High Plains Drifter"!
Dope little song. You’ll find that on the deluxe edition of Ill communication.
BARS!!! These guys are legends and were ahead of their time. I strongly suggest another flavor = "Gratitude" from Check your head. I can't say top 5 because they have a thousand tunes! High Plains Drifter is man-da-tory and Bouillabaisse is ridiculous and is 5 songs in one!
Bro that was a great reaction I dig the breakdown.
True hip hop
MCA's given name is also Adam. His last name is Yauch - pronounce it like "yawk".
Genius flow
Been a Huge Beasties Fan since License to ill Dropped in 85-86 or so. Lovvvvve the Beastie Boys. #LEGENDS. sooo many great songs. Check out, Finger Lickin Good or Shame in Your game, just to randomly name a couple Great songs
I don't know if you've done these, but my top 5
3 MCs and 1 DJ
High Plains Drifter (lyrics meh, but the musicality is level 100)
Wat'cha Want

My personal top 5:
Paul Revere
High Plains Drifter
Sounds of Science
Come Together
So Watcha Want
Ask me tomorrow and at least 2 or 3 of those might get knocked out for something else. Lots of gems in their catalog.
Dude me too, my top 5 changes regularly
They are all goated, but the king ad rock is my guys fir sure
Rhymin and stealin with the video, they were Some wild boys back in the 80s😅
Definitely one of the better Beastie Boys songs
Even though like you said they are all good this one is particularly good
This is my favorite
I’m gonna suggest one song. Get it Together ft. Q-Tip
First!
Bro I miss you Beastie Boys reactions.
i think the word you were looking for is telepathy--they were such tight friends (from way back in their punk rock days) that they clearly became telepathic, like all of the greatest bands/groups--they were of the same mind. this is why their ability to rap together in complex patterns was so over the top and unusual. the only group even remotely close in quality and impact is public enemy. maybe wu tang. everyone else pales in comparison. my recommendation for next track: shadrach.

Mix Master Mike is awesome, before him was DJ Hurricane, who is also a badass!
Adrock was my fav
Please check out The Maestro by them
I can’t top 5 the b boys, I’m just too close to it. But you should check out the song Finger Licking Good. It’s so dope.
Yeah, I really like the studio version... But at the 'Live in Glasgow' performance, MixMaster Mike obliterates the mix for 'Finger Lickin Good' song performance, as well...
Also, another few songs that reactors don't seem to do often:
Skills To Pay The Bills
Open Letter To NYC
Car Thief
Negotiation Limerick File
Alive
Shadrach
Egg Man
3 Minute Rule
*Beastie For Life*
RIP 😔 MCA
Do .. " SURE SHOT "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually, DJ Hurricane was their DJ for their first four albums, this track included. Hurricane has a more classic style compared Mix Master Mike. MM Mike came a group called Invisibl Skratch Piklz.
MCA and mostly Adrock do all the scratching of the records recorded before Mix Master Mike. Hurricane was only a live DJ.
Dr Dre, not NWA dr dre, but dr dre that was out before that was the dj on license to ill
Yo how am I gonna put 10 classics in a top 5 🧐🤔
It's real cypher
Nobody will ever match these 3 MCs and 1 DJ. I'd put my 401K on that.
Best business decision was leaving DefJam.
This track is dope, but it's not bar heavy at all. It's just a vibe. I think they put a ton of energy into producing unique sounds on this track and album.
Yo you should check out Clipse over this beat
im a big fucking fan of the beasty boys , i like some eminem and maybe 2 songs of jay z, everything else i dont like
Synergy is the perfect word 😊
