So gutted to hear about Marcus being diagnosed with MND recently. He was a class act (on and off the field) for Ipswich. We've not had a striker anywhere near as good since! Thoughts with Marcus and his family.
I WAS AT THE PLAY-OFF SEMI FINAL BOLTON AWAY GAME... IT WAS HOT, IT WAS AMAZING... AND THE LEGEND DELIVERED!!! I WAS ALSO AT THE ANFIELD 1-0-ER!!! 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿🚜💙... I FEEL BLESSED!!! :) x
I don't know one person in Huddersfield who could understand the sale at the time...madness. What a wonderful player he was and gave many good memories.
Quality and such good memories. Your #1 was also Marcus’ favourite Ipswich goal. Heard him say so himself. If you can find the reverse camera angle it looks even better
I like your list and number one was incredibly special on that day but, drum roll, the first goal against Bolton was and will always be the best goal I have ever had the pleasure to witness, an unbelievable strike and my favourite Ipswich goal ever
Absolutely loved this. My favourite Ipswich player of all time and some amazing memories. I met Marcus Stewart on a night out in Newcastle. He had just left us for Sunderland and I told him how devastated I was, he was absolutely hammered! I remember him telling me to keep it down because he didn't want any Geordies to know a Mackem was in their town! Top man.
I remember him scoring for Huddersfield when they beat us 3-1 at Portman Road on my birthday in 1996. I knew he was something special then, and I couldn't believe it when we signed him. One of my all-time favourite players, so clever, and a total legend.
This was by far the craziest transfer in the history of huddersfield town. I have watched us for 42 years now and seen around ten 20 goals a season strikers including Jordan Rhodes, Duncan Shearer and local hero Andy Booth and although on goals per game Rhodes is on paper the best in the list Marcus will always be my favourite......the most natural goal sniffer, fox in the box player to wear the shirt. A bit of a lad aswell would have a pint I town now and again. TRUE HTAFC LEGEND
Nice to watch in our current situation, was at nearly all of these games...amazing times, so many memories. Helsingborg is still my favourite, think I ended up about 3 rows in front after that goal as we could only get tickets for the seating in the side stand.
I was fortunate enough to be at the 1st leg away at Bolton (watching with a mate who was a Bolton fan and even he applauded Marcus's first) and saw both goals live. I might have put them 1 and 2 the other way around (his first was a dream strike) but as his 2nd goal was ultimately what sent us home to Portman Road with a draw I totally understand why you put them in the order you did but 100% agree on goals 1 and 2. For the record (and maybe for obvious reasons my mate didn't applaud his 2nd goal (hehe)
Even though I remember these great times I don't think I appreciated how good they actually were. Its depressing as hell to watch this now, looking at what we've become. 😪
I missed the first half of the Bolton away game, I finally found a pub showing it (i lived in Scotland...) "Here we go AGAIN" I thought when I saw the score. But two wonder goals, and they were both spectacular ( i thought the first was better) from a top class player turned it around. Scowcroft and Johnson may have been good players, but when it mattered the true quality came up and made the difference. The cream will always rise to the top and cheating scumbags like Bolton showed themselves to be in the second leg at Portman Road (I was there!) will never prosper. WHAT A PLAYER
Huddersfield Town fan here. Bittersweet video. Great to see our best player in my lifetime. But torture to see the single most stupid decision made by our club in living memory.
Graham Higby hi there...last I heatd he was on the managment team at yeovil..well this was last year ..so not sure if he still is. But yes your right...we could do with him ...or even half of him would do COYB!
One of my favourite players had forgotten just how good he was . Thank you ❤

Yeah if I remember right Huddersfield were a decent side at the time looking towards promotion themselves
My all time favourite Ipswich player .

That first goal vs Bolton.. Love it...
An excellent piece, thank you for the memories!

Great video Ben. Brightening up the day's when it's difficult being a town
Legend. One of the greats.
Great memories, Tony Mowbray at the end brought a tear to the eye. You never know we may be on the brink of another revival....

Like most Hudds fans, I was happy to see Stewart do well ... but why the hell did we sell?

Ouch....best I’ve seen in an Ipswich shirt too 😣😣
He was awesome
the best that whole team was
He was great 👍 👌
Cool under pressure, forgot how good he was
my dad knew his aunt
Why is his picture in the opening video in a Sunderland shirt!!
My god we could do with him now. Do you know what he is up to nowadays?
