This could be the best interview on UA-cam on Musicianship. I’ve watched it twice and still don’t think I absorbed everything. I was raised in the Bronx. There were some talented players from the Bronx. I moved to Miami for law school at 22, and had a steady gig at Monty’s playing bass in a rock, soul band. Then to LA, and jazz study. Michael Landau close up at the Baked Potato is something to see too. But I didn’t learn about what Chris is talking about until I joined a worship team. There’s a lot more to it than I thought. These brothers taught me how to be a musician, and adaptable. Thank you both for this very important interview.
Zac, I've just recently come across your videos. I love them. Your style is inviting. You let the musicians talk instead of asking a bunch of questions for them to answer. I enjoy the back stories to these guys. Keep them coming. Really enjoyed Chris' interview. What a really cool, humble, laid-back and talented guy. I've enjoyed his work on many CCM records. God bless.
Thanks for doing this with Chris. He is was one of my guitar heroes growing up, and still is today. Actually had a dream come true with him playing and singing on some of my tunes. Keep these coming.
Zac, I really love the artists you interviews. These "behind the scenes" players are an inspiration. Your questions are interesting and your choice of players is amazing. I am so glad that you caught up with many of these guys before it is too late. I also learned about some guys I had no knowledge of their amazing careers (and boy, should I have!).
If you get recommended for multiple gigs by Dan Huff, you are pretty darn good. My favorite quote from Rodg - 35:44 "I'm just excited about life, so it's hard for me to stay in bed". Love it!
This is such a great interview! Zack did such a great job! I've followed Chris Rodriguez for years and have always loved what he has contributed to the music scene! Chris Rodriguez, Dan Huff and Jerry McPherson have been my top 3 favorite session guitarist since I was a kid. I love it when I see any of their names in the credits. By the way I loved your CD "Beggar's Paradise" Mr. Rodriguez. I would love to see another solo album someday. Keep playing for the glory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! God Bless!!!
Wow. I had no idea how vast his career was. I was introduced to him by his background vocals on several Twila Paris albums. I will have to check out his other stuff.
Hi Zac ,another wonderful interview which I appreciate very much.Keep these coming please i really enjoyed the Chris interview so much inspirational.Greetings from Scotland ...Graham
Hello again Zac, After watching Chris's interview for the fifth time ...yeh really i just had to go out and buy that Jeff Beck strat. So glad I did so....Graham
Hey guys! Why don't you interview Lincoln Brewster? He is also a history maker coz he is the first Christian Artist to have a signature Fender strat this coming July! God bless
hate to say it but he didn't mention keith urban which can only mean that kept was not very nice considering how many years he was with him. sad because i love keith urban
I’ve heard him mention Keith in other interviews since leaving. There doesn’t seem to be any bad feelings. Those guys are on contract for the length of the tour, so if Keith takes time off the other guys are looking for work and it’s possible that he ended up signing a contract with another artist and was not available for Keith when he started touring again.
Chris made time to talk to me at a Kenny Loggins concert in Torrington, CT. He is a Saved brother. So polite. Jesus saves. Thank u Chris...

These interviews are just so inspiring. Picking up things from these masters that one can use in their own playing even at an enthusiast level.
There isn’t more of a class act than Chris Rodriguez. Excellent interview!

Jim Hurst says, "Hi, Chris!" I think that's what he said.
