Of course, Firestone's charts are not representative enough to determine the overall picture, but your data is part of a larger puzzle that can help identify some trends. I couldn't ignore the fact that the app's audience is growing, while the number of matches on HSpeplay has decreased slightly, and the Badlands expansion is showing unique dynamics.

Hey is there any way to get your deck tracker on Android?
You know, adding a social element would help a lot. Most games have ways to make friends in game and play with those friends on a daily basis. The lack of guilds is hurting the quality of life of HS players, causing people to leave. I keep coming back to HS, but then leaving a month later because I have no friends who play HS
TRUE, my friend quests stay there for weeks because no one will friend me due to fear of being flamed or due to anger
Also lack of achievements and competition, like they made made this new twist format, got to top legends of this things in like 3 sessions with a completely broken deck (fighting mostly bots) to get the legend achievement and then nothing more to do.
Ranks not being meaningful in the slightest compared to before is unsettling, before getting to legend was somekind of a challenge, now you farm bots until diamonds then you just have to play 10 ish games and boom you're legend. Even bots manage to get legends because at the end of the month only bots aren't legend yet.
They added achievements which are cool but they are not challenging it's just a farm thing or just "very uncommon thing to happen", so the only interest skill-wise is the ladder and there isn't any rewards for being high ladder like top 100, top 50, top10 you just have your name written on a page, cool I guess.
The only diffcult challenges are actually in the arena, getting 12 wins with every class is hard (I have two classes left to complete) and 12-0 with every class super mega hard, also arena cost gold so you're limited in how many runs you can do so it's not a farm "just play and you'll get it" thing.
So I only play arena now, I have like 70k dust sitting I dunno what to do with, maybe craft golden Gruul.
@Foudzing Numbers claim that there are millions of players who play every day, but 3/4 never buy anything, and most of them are probably bots. I wonder how many actual players there are?
@@nathaeladalyah9681 I think the 3/4 is legit I used to be addicted as hell and not pay a penny in 5 years and shit tons of hours in and funny now that I'm not addicted anymore I finally paid stuff, like if I need gold or dust i'll give money rather than farm.

I actually came back to hearthstone in 2022ish after not playing since around 2016 or so. Changing life circumstances as well as more PVE content brought me back, even though hearthstone itself doesnt like to focus on PVE as it is not as popular/monetizable, although I do play some casual PVP now with Catchup packs helping me get into it

Each new mini set strengthens a class, makes it popular, and allows everyone to play that class. Humans are creatures that can bond. When they become attached to a character and become too weak, they have to quit the game or walk away. From here we come to the conclusion: will the game die anytime soon? No, but the rest of the player base is popular. It will consist of people playing no matter what, which will cause new players to play for 3-4 months at most and then quit. There will also be those who cling to the popular class and quit the game when they become weak. The main problem here is that the factor that determines the winning condition of the game is not whether you play well or not, but luck and the opponent (meta rank) hero. I hope the developers will fix this problem
Kinda interesting to think that the thing that got a lotta people to check back in on hearthstone with badlands was 1, catch up packs and 2, League of explorers nostalgia.

all of Latin America had its price tripled, which keeps players away, leaving a large part of Asia keeps players away, despising the small creators of HS bg and ranked keeps players away. The game being extremely expensive unnecessarily drives away players. The fans are no longer as stupid as they used to be, clinging to being fans, what Heartstone always had were the crazy Apple-worshipping types, today there aren't that many anymore. and it seems like he wants to do everything to bring these crazy people back.
Your arena estimations might be slightly off due to so called "barcode accounts"... Basically burner accounts which would do some botting to get a bunch of gold then retire a bunch of runs until they get a broken deck, play one arena run and switch to the next burner account... So out of those stats on arena leaderboards there would be at least several burner accounts for each such player, so while there are a lot of accounts it is only one player with lots of bots for them... Also those burner accounts would get packs from all that and probably open them so that might have skewed pack opened stat too
You're absolutely right. But we don’t know how much the bots distort the picture. To get on the leaderboard you need to get at least one victory. In the list we see a huge number of accounts that have one victory and many defeats, but how many of them are really bots and who are real losers? Plus, I have no idea how many packs one bot can open before it runs out of resources. 300 thousand banned accounts are not able to significantly affect the official statistics of open packs from Blizzard. Even if we assume that there are 3 million bots, the actual player base remains abnormally large. I did the calculations for a very long time, but I could not find an explanation for the situation with the opening of 16 billion packs. All we can do is wait for the official infographic from Blizzard this year, maybe we're missing something.
I'll chime in because I literally coined the term "barcode accounts". While it's obvious some of these guys mass retiring exist, you can see them on leaderboard, I think the prevalence of these is MASSIVELY overstated by the narratives of certain people talking about them. I still think it's true that there are a lot of botted/purchased accounts. Just that I believe that the vast majority of them do not mass retire.
Because, for example, this point got brought up in the video, too - we know there's a lot of Chinese players. And can they even legitimately buy ANYTHING in the game? Maybe they literally can't. I actually don't know. A lot of these players have multiple accounts out of pure necessity, because otherwise, they literally can't buy more Arena runs, or cards, or whatever.
So, returning to the point, I also agree, there's probably a lot of room for overestimation of players just because there is likely a large population of players with multiple accounts. And that could especially skew pack opening stats for people "barcoding" for just, different constructed decks. I think that's all true. I just want to push back on the specific part of it which is what I'd call at this point, the Arena "barcode" myth.
@@kolst i am not saying they are majority or anything, I am just saying they would have a noticeable effect on such stats as "number of packs opened". And also counting the number of accounts is not the same as the number of people who play the game, so you need to be aware...

The number of bots in Standard increased significantly when they cut the rewards for Mercenaries.
Currently pushing into legend playing around 30-40% bots. Diamond 1 on 2 wins currently and just got decimated by a blizzard bot DK deck.

If these conclusions are correct, why have I faced obvious bots with the same almost exclusively neutral deck and who always take exactly the same amount of time to make actions on their turns from Bronze through all of Gold?

Using my main account, I don’t encounter bots at all. I created a new account as an experiment and encountered a large number of bots until I climbed higher up the ladder. I was very lucky, during my rise in the rankings, another wave of bans occurred. I immediately noticed the difference in the opponents.
With the start of the new season, bots completely disappeared from my path. It seems like only new players or returning players are experiencing this issue. It is hoped that with the start of the new season, Blizzard will give you bonus stars for victories, which will reduce the number of bots in your way.

Hs is a mature product in a niche genre. The popularity achieved in the beginning was more novelty factor. TCG is not appealing to large audiences like Fifa, Cod, or Wow.
I think you’re wrong with HS specifically, mind you a large majority of the first players came from WoW because of the tie ins.
WOW isn’t the same anymore, but that lasting impression doesn’t vanish immediately.

1. Hs is only affordable for whales. 80 euros every 3 months no way the average player will spend 240 euros on 1 game to keep up. Can buy 6 games for that price
2. Community wants less rng, we get more rng.
3. 50 euros only gives you 3 legendaries, barely enough to make 1 meta deck.
For 50 euros I can buy 20 rare real magic the gathering cards

It’s just too expensive the current pricing model is atrocious I have been playing this game since beta and I used to reliably make 2-3 meta decks after I purchased the largest bundle of cards 2 times and honestly less after a new expansion because I have some cards to DE but last few expansions I tried to do the same thing and I barely managed to get one meta deck which is crazy burning like over a 150$ bucks only to realize you can’t even get the top deck list properly. It’s just insanity I am never going back to this game.
This. Hearthstone only caters whales and not the bigger audience with less money. If I want 3 legendaries I need to spend 50 gold (2 golden legendaries + 10 golden packs). I can buy real magic the gathering cards for that price
honestly for a trading card game you should be able to get every card easily for free without paying a cent. why didn't they just make money with skins and user interface skins only. no wonder game's losing players...
I think the reddit data & twitch data should be compared to other games, presenting it alone doesn't give much info as Reddit and Twitch could have had significant shifts in their audience, unrelated to HS in any way. I'm mostly thinking about the third party ban from reddit

Right now i just play HS to complete the missions to get gold for packs on next exp and rotation. Last couple of months ive been playing snap mostly.

The game has enough players and attention. Look at the countless HS channels on UA-cam. It is correct that many people are not very happy with the current meta (as always). And there are other problems like the bots. But overall the game is in a good state and still interesting. Not every game mode can have a huge amount of players constantly. Most people are playing standard format.
I hope the numbers drop so far that they need to do something to get me back I used to buy 80$ every 3 or 4 months I'm on ssi I can't do that ever again it's a huge waste of money until this feels like a free to play again I'm not interested

Yeah, that countless channels that are losing count? State of the Wild is dead, Regis barely streams HS anymore, Wild streamers are gone or trying to find some other mode that is bareable while Blizzard is killing them one by one (the modes not the streamers).

Other than Kibler (who has been a variety streamer for a long time now) and Rraran (who is also a variety streamer) the rest of those guys are sub 10k a video Andies. Yes, new content creators are filling the void left by creators who quit/change the games they are streaming but they are are small fishes in an ever shrinking pond. I don't see anyone the size of Trump in the new content creators let alone new Thijs or Kripp. I am not saying that HS will die suddenly, it's big enough to last some years more but denying that the game is being quartered by AB and that the fanbase is dwindling is living a lie.

I need a Bot Mathematician. If i bought the golden miniset with gold, is it worth it for me to spend 2000 gold on the standard miniset and dust the cards? Thank you!
Well 2000 gold is 20 packs = 100 cards . Miniset is 38 cards . Average dust per pack is 40. In miniset u have several legendary and epic cards . If u count one legendary is 400 dust guaranteed 400 dust is again = 10 average packs . Already u can see that is profitable . Also according to google buying miniset is profitable in general, i assume that means that u have more «dust» then if u just spend the gold on packs. There is even a simpler logic if u expect to have same amount of rares epics and legendarys if u open the packs, that means the dust u get from this packs is equal to miniset «dust» .
Yes, but only if you need dust to create a specific card. Only in this case is it profitable to buy dust in Hearthstone. In most cases, you will receive more conditional benefits if you buy 20 packs of the new expansion.

@@bradencluster4739 never mind, I actually thought of this thanks to you, while answering ur question, I'm considering doing it myself, to replenish some dust, as we discussed it's a pretty good move dust-wise. In my personal opinion, u should decide for yourself whether or not to do this, it depends on what u need, if u need dust, sure it's a good investment. I googled, if u open 60-65 packs of the expansion u will have all the rares and commons of the set, again in my opinion it will be wasteful for u to buy these packs, because u basically already have all commons and rares, with just preorder alone, so buying more packs of the same expansion would be inefficient dust wise. If u compare it to buying miniset for dust.
Ditching duels is probably why I’m leaving. Battlegrounds is getting too much. The power curve is too much in standard, people winning too fast, no counter disruption. In duels, I expect to get cheezed. But the chaos is fun in that mode. Blowing up all cards or overloading me when I’m not shaman with no way to counter. steam cleaner i guess but it’s a 5/5 do nothing but recover needs to be a 2 mana. Back in the day the 5 or 6 drops were auto-removal for the opponent (eg tharisan, Sylvanias ) now they feel like hot garbage.
It was: build a board OR have something to hold or trade or remove before 5, 4/5/6 start to get threatening and usually have a gimmic to help the player catch up , and 7/8/9/10 is a high pressure car on the board for your opponent (rag, varian, old gods)

I just started playing ranked matches yesterday and on the road from bronze to platinum I didn’t meet a single bot. I saw a new video from Rarran and I don't understand how this is possible. Perhaps new or returning players have a different ladder compared to regular legendary players?
So a big thing i dont think ur mentioned is that the market is oversaturrated.
When hs came out u had magic and yugioh and those were not on mobile.
Hs was good back then. But its stagnation combined with other options means players dont play as much
Maybe saturation, but hearthstone is not listening to it's audience: less rng, what they do they put even more rng in it.
Also hearhstone caters whales instead of making it affordable for everyone. They should stop comparing themselves to mtg card prices. 50 euros buys me 3 legendaries in hearthstone, I can buy 100 rares in mtg with 50 euros.
I did switch deck-tracker from HsReplay to Firestone. In the beginning I even used neither because forgot to turn it on (also due to problems with my laptop). And as of the botting situation: I never attempted to ladder, I played Mercenaries. Made it once to Diamond 5 and last month I really tried. But Gave up at Diamond 2 (3 stars). It felt like I always got the worst matchups and card draw. As if the game is rigged. Even in mirror matches my opponent always had the perfect card in response. Example: plague DK, I pull ALL the plagues and my opponent NONE! Btw: I played even totem Shaman in wild. This month I retry in standard to get legendary first time. Wild has become impossible.
There is no need to be paranoid its simply a skill issue if the results are not favorable overtime, also if you can get d2 you can get legend, its your skill and mindstate holding you back, this game is so easy once you are good you shud be able to get legend with any top meta deck, gl hf
I am getting back into Hearthstone, Shadowverse is not doing much for me anymore. The various modes of Hearthstone are challenging and fun.

It takes around 10 to get a match in HS. Something you cannot say about any other card game right now. It's not like I"m trying to defend HS, but it's true.
It didnt help either that in my country Argentina (and in many others but to a lesser degree), in 2023 the prices increased by 700% from one day to the other, and even worse now theyre transforming all the prices to USD currency making it due to convertion even more expensive. Absolutely prohibiting to spend any kind of money in this game. Used to buy most expansion deals since Old Gods in like idk 2017? But this change was the nail in the coffin for me and all the people i knew still playing it here.

im 100% sure there are a lot of bots in ladder. sometimes i play 3-5 games against bots in a row. higher i get, more i meet them, and i only reached gold 5
You are no Columbus. Blizzard had stated many a time: there are Blizzard bots on low ladder to populate the player pool/help new players to climb.
Somehow I missed the announcement that Duels was getting killed. I've literally only been a Duels and occasional Battlegrounds player for a while now. Duels was the *only* reason that I was still collecting cards. I guess April will be my exit from the game as well, finally.
I started playing in 2016 and would dip in and out of the game but this year I have completely skipped the last two expansions and only played during Festival briefly. I think for me it’s just a change in taste and I’ve had enough of the game.

I've certainly stopped playing for a long time. Idk why. Just tired of the metagame, I suppose. The pacing of matches kept getting faster and faster and I came to Hearthstone specifically for it's slower, more methodical approach.
Rewards Track: 181 Badlands achievements: 22% have Tavern pass. Don't play Battlegrounds unless for quest.
180 packs during 1 expension (4 months) ?? 25 standard around 65-70 ish exp + 16packs (diamond) lets rough it up to 110 +2000G(miniset)... how you guys getting to 180??
I assume people buy the pre order in conjunction with free packs
Playing since 2016. Last years didnt buy anything. Only disenchanting. With my experience winning even 2 arena duels is almost impossible. Too weak cards to set a deck. In ranked duels - level Nightmare.
i feel like hearthstone has just devolved to a point where every other game your opponent runs 50 hard removals + reno. it's gotten to a point where you cannot play any minions. everything gets instantly removed and it has become no fun to play anything at all
I guess there is always some complaining people. No metter what meta it is . Innervate into 3/3 adapt bird that is adapting into windfury was literally turn two lose. And this is in the game where u suppose to think 1-2 turns ahead, there was nothing u could do against such a high roll. And now when win revolves around knowing matchups when and what u should play. The actual environment when u can show individual skill there is a comment about «oh i can't win by playing green cards, they got removed all the time, boring»😅

@@strandededucation622 well technically i downloaded hs before. Sometime around after demonhunter was in the game but i couldnt beat his prologue, got pissed and deleted it lol. (I know this because it was still unfinished when i logged onto my account)
I redownloaded HS cuz i was looking for something to do while at work (i work security). I really liked how death knight played and have just been playing a bunch since then.
Too much modes now, this is not a sustainable business for a company. It's like a restaurant with a hundred of meals in the menu ... Only nolife can attend the whole content of HS. Focus on Quality more than Quantity is key. I'm always, as a CTIO like in my organisation (Innovation Lead), astonished when business is getting overwhelmed by the number of similar assets to maintain but with Quality AND sustainability impacted.

90 percent of my opponents only use basic cards. It's getting so boring. This is from lowest tank and now I'm at diamond 7 and nothing is changing
I have 30 win streak because all the players between bronze and diamond are bots. Every single game is the same. The bots only hit face unless there is a taunt and the game is over by turns 6. I don’t think I’m going to continue playing this game…

I had to re climb to diamond last month. I stopped playing a little before Badlands released. From bronze to platinum 9 I ran into nothing but bots.... Not looking goood for hearthstone, been playing the game on and off for 10 years! Been playing since beta would really be sad to see hearth lose all the playerbase
After a year away from HS I've played a few days this week. Nothing but bots, every game is bots so I guess there only a couple hundred ppl near legend playing this game anymore. Sad
Number of legendary players feel super skewed because the strongest deck at the time around December was treant Druid, the cheapest and easiest deck to pilot in the game, so it was easiest it's ever been for a plethora of players to reach good ranks like Legend due to how fast treant matches go and how powerful it was, not including bot activity of course which also skyrocketed.
Pretty much only bots aren't legends at the end of the months nowadays or players that basically don't play. I don't remember which month it was but last time I played standard was when the paladin with the "boogie" card and the "gardens" card deck was OP, I played that and got legends in 2 or 3 sessions of about 2 to 4 hours, starting chicken rank caue I haven't played standard for like a year and a half.
Imo main problem is that ranks doesn't mean many things now, and fighting for top legend doesn't get you anything as reward, so there isn't any incentive for playing standard.
i also quit (again) for many reasons, i cant stand the design no more. they broke the game to often in an unhealthy way, they keep on ignoring many waek cards until they rotate without seeing any play. sure they do many things right but for me way to many things wrong. maybe ill come back in couple of months to see how the new rotation looks like.
I arrived at the diamond and stopped throwing this rubbish, I've already secured my chest since the 2nd of this month! Playing free games from Epic Games!!
Honestly? I'm too weak to give up this game on my own, but if Blizzard closes it on its own, then I won't have any remorse and nothing will tempt me.
I just started playing hearthstone again and I could tell it’s overflown with bots. I would rather play yugioh master duel then waste my time playing against AI.

Content updates stop being relevant when you just get a new bunch of cards that you cannot even get from the start

In my opinion hearthstone early years had more balance cards, healthy gameplay but harder way to obtain cards.
These years gameplay and cards are out of balanced, many broken cards with instant win after play them. We can obtain cards easier but games arent so fun anymore.
Battlegrounds is the last mode alive with perfect balanced and fun games.
Honestly i have try other card games with worst problems, hearthstone can be the top, if they start fixing the balance of the cards and stop printing broken no sense cards.

Wait no - all twist cards should be unlocked during the twist season, even if you can play it in standard. Just have it as a special unlock with the option to craft, and relock it after the season. That gives people a direct look at the cards, if they like them, and it makes it more fun. Twist costing money is like charging for a cup of water and MORE if you want ice

Standard and wild division killed it for me. Now there is bunch of modes, shop is all over the place and if you miss year or two or just dont play all the time, you feel like its not worth it to catch up. The best time for me was when we had no standard or wild format, expansions came out in normal pace and we had some nice adventures from time to time with some cool cards. That was more then enough for me. Now its just too much and it is expensive to feel that you have good collection.

I think the game is just stale now. it's lost that spark and has been on a downward spiral since kobolds imo. the rotating sets are too small and make standard way too linear. each class only has 1 good deck at any any given time 2 at best causing the variety to be just straight up boring. been playing since beta and bought every expansion just hoping that the next expansion might bring some hope but every time its the same thing. 1st day expansion exciting then quickly diminishes and then the net decks come out and I'm done lol

TLDR - I think the main reason hearthstone isn't that profitable is because people are starting to realize how much of a scam buying packs is
Hearthstones monetization was flawed from the very start. I always said and I'll still say buying packs is a complete scam, that includes buying pre-orders. Paying 60 euros for 60 packs, just to get 2 or 3 legendaries and nearly not enough epics is a complete ripoff when compared to other games. For the price of a expansion pre-order you can get a AAA game or a few good indies, instead of not getting nearly enough cards.
A lot of die-hard HS fans like to defend the monetization by comparing it with real life TCGs, however all of them forget that HS has VIRTUAL cards and no real value, so blizzard should adjust the prices according to other pc games, not according to TCGs.

Let's be real. Actual cards don´t have value either since you have to be real lucky in order to get a profitable card so is like playing lottery but the big prize is slightly above 100 euros, which is lame. Spend 60 euros on hearthstone and you may be able to build a couple of decks, spend 60 euros on a real card game and you get nothing

@@Joeballs187well i just accumulated gold, bought a catch up packs, then did the same this meta, but bought mini set instead of catch up packs, and now i have 2 meta decks that i can play right now, never donated, and just been doing daily and weekly tasks . Even more so, i already accumulated 1300 gold on top of that .
