Just want to say, even though I play way too much BGs and this info isn't new to me, the way you present it is still very entertaining. It's clear, informative, well thought out, and you made the whole 27 minutes fly by. You have a knack for this and I look forward to seeing where your content goes.
We're so lucky to get this instructional advice from such a top-tier player as yourself. Thanks for taking the time to make all these videos recently! I'll watch every one, and I hope this helps your channel grow as you deserve it to for the hard work and expertise poured into these. Thanks, Jeef!
1:24 the play here is actually to buy the wrathweaver, freeze, then heropower the wrathweaver. this way the wrathweaver is unfrozen at the end of the turn (with frontdrake and coin still frozen)
I feel like I've gained 2k points just by watching this video lol, I'm constantly finishing 1st or 2nd in my games just applying what you explain in the video, thanks !
Been playing HS for many years and always stayed out of BGs. It’s extremely intimidating and overwhelming for a new player. It’s like you’re not even playing HS anymore. They really need a practice mode for BGs so the timer isn’t preventing you from playing around in the shop to see how things work. Thanks for posting this. It’s a lot of info to take in, it’s great to have a resource to at least start.
As a newcomer to BGs this is really awesome. Watching streamers consistently finish 1st and 2nd is really no mystery anymore after watching this video. GGs!
You boldly called this out as the most important battlegrounds video ever. I have to admit, I rolled my eyes at that comment. HOWEVER… I think you were right. This completely changed the way I think about the early and mid game and my play is greatly improved after watching this video. I’m a mid player who plays once or twice a day, and I breezed from 7k - 8k after I fully grasped the meaning of some of your remarks. 10/10 content. Thanks and kudos!
I took notes so you don't have to -don't buy trash! -standard curve 2 on 2 -jeef curve 2 on 3 (need 1 drops + coin) -rafam curve 2 on 4 -always curve out shops tavern 3: -standard 3 on 5 -don't be scared to go 3 on 3 -3 on 4 to not buy trash -always think about the next turn -freeze 1 or 2 cost spells if ill have excess gold next turn, spending on rolling is game LOSING. tavern 4: -look at board state to determine if I should level -4 on 4 if my shops are too trash to buy (last case resort) 4 on 5 if you cant double buy just level w/ 7 gold -4 on 6 vs 4 on 7, how many units does my board have (full = level) , leveling past turn 7 is not playing for top 4. (strong = level) tavern 5/6 -not about turn # for tavern 5/6 -can lvl as early as 5 on 7 or 5 on 12 :what am I leveling for? -my board is good enough for 6 -I want to search for 5 drop direction -I have pairs/elise so i can triple into 6 drops invalid answers deal 1 extra dmg, bc i can :) -dont lvl to 6 if i need 5 drops -tribe specific, eles and pirates favor high rolling on taverns 5/6 -roll tavern 4 w/ QB/ dems -will I die if i level? -31 hp, solid tempo, direction options 5/6 -15 hp, weak board, need stabilizing units -always utilize every mana crystal, don't just spend on rolls
I'm only going to tell you that i'm a casual 6.5k player with my mobile phone and after watching this "don't but crap" thing I won at first game 😅 by leveling instead of buying crap, which allowed me to get core beast minions before opponents.
For anyone that wondered (he never explained further), the reason the answer to his first riddle at 1:23 about level on turn 3 and to buy then freeze on turn 1 is because of this: First, if you buy upbeat frontdrake, freeze. On turn 2, you buy the second upbeat frontdrake and buy the coin, on turn 3 you upgrade and use coin and buy another minion. You get the most bang for your buck that way. That way by the end of turn 4 you will have 4 to 6 minions with the possibility of having a triple upbeat frontdrake depending on luck.
Ever since watching this guide (not even 24 hours later), my hardstucked mmr jumped from 7800 to 8500. It's amazing how stating the seemingly obviously (but isn't) helps in ensuring that you are aware of stuff and is actively making good decisions. I would highly recommend this guide to anyone who wishes to improve in battlegrounds. Huge shoutout to jeef for putting it so well.
This is the best BG guide ever. Even better than Jeef's other guides which were all the best. Very well written and highly informative. Thank you Jeef.
Battlegrounds didn't even exist when I stopped playing hearthstone, so as a new comer to the mode I really appreciate your guides. Probably would have had a way harder time or bounced right the hell off the mode it without them.
I only recently started playing battleground ,but I love it ,I used to be a Grandmaster TFT player but I got bored of it ,now battleground is my new favorite auto chess game and your videos helped me understand the game very quickly so thanks a bunch. Also I'm back now to rewatch your videos cuz I'm kinda stuck around 5800-6000 mmr and I'm trying to improve 😀
Hi Jeef. I just hit 7k mmr right after leaning stuff from your VDO! Many thanks 🙏 I think the most important message from this video that hits me is 'Don't buy trash'.
Very educational video, as are all your streams. From a cameraman’s point of view this tip for next vid: make sure your camera is focused on you and you have a calm background. It’s a shame if your viewers get distracted by an out of focus video where a lot if happening in the (focused) background.
I'm a newer BG player, started just two weeks ago or so, and these videos are helping me put things into perspective. Hopefully I remember enough to have it affect my gameplay ^_^
Good video! Definitely had to go back and listen twice to a few segments but really informative stuff in here I haven't played battlegrounds in a long time so feels good to be back
as a 25y mtg player with certain significant results over the past decade and a half, i started playing heartstone about 5 weeks ago and am mainly active in battle grounds, struggling this week to break 7k points and I found this video usefull, as most of the exceptions seemed obvious to me and several I have used, but some of the standard curve I should take notice, because I now learned I should be more firm on leveling instead of buying semi-trash or rolling to try and get non-trash. Also I'm kind of glad lubby is gone, because with him I often found i couldn't finish my gold/turns as to many choices aren't automatic. Also I still need to find out how to properly scale undead's and beasts because I don't know when to sell and improve on those as well as for others.
Thank you for your thorough breakdown of leveling, I've heard of the reasoning before from Shadybunny, shit units so it's better to level, but never could understand the particulars. Especially the early tiers, thank you so much Jeef
I just started playing Hs again after a few years, and BG like 3 days ago. I suck so bad lol, but your vid def gave me some insight on what I need to do. Crazy how lost I feel currently, lol, but def seems learnable.
You are so underrated, you have so many good tips and your voice is so beautiful and soothing to listen to, plz start doing whisper/talk asmr in addition to your normal stuff
(maybe someone else commented this as well) the 'correct' play here at 1:26 is : buy coin sell, buy 1/4 -> Hero power , freeze - so you get two fresh slots next round
When I was watching this video while Jeff's talking about Jeff curve: "Oh this Jeff Curve is interesting maybe I'll try it next time. Wait... isn't this name familiar? Must have heard of that somewhere but I just can't remember 😅😂"
we have invented Hard Core Hearthstone, or Pokestone as we call it. we play a private round, then the winner picks a rule we all play with, i.e. only tier 1/3/5 or, only undead, or no death rattles. it's fun and makes us more better in a public lobby.
I can see your point but if all you need to buy next turn is Frontdrake and Coin then there is no point to doing that cuz most of the time you won't freeze the next board anyway
Shared! LOL Even though I am the new player :3 Still though this is a very newbie friendly way to explain it. Helps if you come over from another card game, and did have to replay some of it, but super helpful!
I don't think so because as I said in the video, 4 drops and 5 drops are not too gamewinning, so you lose too much tempo on average. I would only consistently do that curve with brann
Nice educational video and it's good to hear from pros. Also I wanna ask everyone here, do you guys go 4 on 4 for heistbaron togwaggle to use his hero power asap next turn? I tend to do this whenever I can but wanna know what you guys think? Is the risk worth it?
Let me go on a bit of a tangent here, whenever I play these hero powers I try to actively remind myself to avoid being too greedy. Togwaggle, Galagrond, Eudora, powers that have a high potential to be good but forcing them into their "best" case scenario could put you in a bad spot. So for Togwaggle, 4on4 to hit power on turn 5, I think only makes sense if you can freeze the current shop because it has some self-scaling potential or good sinergies, because there is always the chance you will get trash on the next shop. If you are simply "hoping" the turn 5 power will save you only to be offered more trash, without even being able to fill your board, then you are likely dead on the spot. Alternatively, I find it way more consistent to get a strong midgame if you hit your hero power on turn 4 (by selling some of your board for 8 gold or setting up tokens beforehand), if the shop is good or if maybe you want to fill the board for a sanddrake or whatnot. That will put you in a position to level to 3 and 4 the next 2 turns without being too behind, or even, hero power again on turn 6 (it will cost 9 at this point, depending if there are economy minions or spells on the shop you can keep the upgrades, sell everything back and still level to 4 on turn 6, AFTER using the hero power. Togwaggle is really difficult to use for a good resson, it has so many decisions to make each turn, hero power is not always the best call as tempting as it can be sometimes

Thanks, Jeef!
Bro I literally followed your guide and have won 12 of my last 15 games. Thanks for putting things into perspective!
People say winning is top 3, I would say winning is getting at least top 8 B)
I feel like you have gotten way better at explaining your ideas over the years. Nice to see.
1:24 the play here is actually to buy the wrathweaver, freeze, then heropower the wrathweaver. this way the wrathweaver is unfrozen at the end of the turn (with frontdrake and coin still frozen)
Nice play 👏🏼
Cool play nice!
The quizzes showing specific board states were rly helpful and eye opening :)
I feel like I've gained 2k points just by watching this video lol, I'm constantly finishing 1st or 2nd in my games just applying what you explain in the video, thanks !

no they don't just play the game, who cares if you lose.
This is so good, and so much content. I'll probably be watching this over and over, from time to time.
Lmao at that credentials bit 😂
Thanks for the great videos, man. Really informative and entertaining!
just subbed. I REALLY like how you visually show scenarios on the screen, it is INCREDIBLY helpful.
This whole topic I feel is the ultimate thing to learn. Falling behind even by 3 gold can be nuts, and leveling is key there. Appreciate the rundown!

10/10 content. Thanks and kudos!
I took notes so you don't have to
-don't buy trash!
-standard curve 2 on 2
-jeef curve 2 on 3 (need 1 drops + coin)
-rafam curve 2 on 4
-always curve out shops
tavern 3:
-standard 3 on 5
-don't be scared to go 3 on 3
-3 on 4 to not buy trash
-always think about the next turn
-freeze 1 or 2 cost spells if ill have excess gold next turn, spending on rolling is game LOSING.
tavern 4:
-look at board state to determine if I should level
-4 on 4 if my shops are too trash to buy (last case resort)
4 on 5 if you cant double buy just level w/ 7 gold
-4 on 6 vs 4 on 7, how many units does my board have (full = level) , leveling past turn 7 is not playing for top 4. (strong = level)
tavern 5/6
-not about turn # for tavern 5/6
-can lvl as early as 5 on 7 or 5 on 12
:what am I leveling for?
-my board is good enough for 6
-I want to search for 5 drop direction
-I have pairs/elise so i can triple into 6 drops
invalid answers
deal 1 extra dmg, bc i can :)
-dont lvl to 6 if i need 5 drops
-tribe specific, eles and pirates favor high rolling on taverns 5/6
-roll tavern 4 w/ QB/ dems
-will I die if i level?
-31 hp, solid tempo, direction options 5/6
-15 hp, weak board, need stabilizing units
-always utilize every mana crystal, don't just spend on rolls
ur the man
This is by far the best guide ive ever seen for battlegrounds the examples and information in this is worth so much
it's so rad that jeef is puttin so much work into spreading knowledge about the game. very commendable
I'm only going to tell you that i'm a casual 6.5k player with my mobile phone and after watching this "don't but crap" thing I won at first game 😅 by leveling instead of buying crap, which allowed me to get core beast minions before opponents.
Great to see you fill out the educational Battlegrounds spot after itsBen stopped recording! Awesome video :)

that was one of the most instructivde videos about bg ive seen so far

Thank you for this video! I'm hardstuck at the moment and this video gave me a good insight of what I should do in battlegrounds.
This video was so helpful. I've been getting a lot more 1st place finishes after watching this. Keep it up Jeef.
Jeef wants us to be the best BGs players we can be... that's really cool
I'm close to hitting 6k because of a lot of the info in this video. Thanks a ton.
This is the best BG guide ever. Even better than Jeef's other guides which were all the best. Very well written and highly informative. Thank you Jeef.
key takeaway from this video: DON’T BUY TRASH!
The problem is that's all I feel like I find :(
Battlegrounds didn't even exist when I stopped playing hearthstone, so as a new comer to the mode I really appreciate your guides. Probably would have had a way harder time or bounced right the hell off the mode it without them.

It is absolutely outlandish how much better at the game this video made me. I was starting from mega garbage though lol.
Watched this earlier today and played 3 BG games tonight. 1st, 2nd, and 1st. Honestly it helped me out so much. Thank you for this.
Imagine questioning Jeef’s credentials and then finding out who he is 😂
@rattusgrenadus8291 he invented the curve, they didn't name it after him.
@rattusgrenadus8291they are not the same but they are also not mutually exclusive
@rattusgrenadus8291 sometimes things get named after whoever popularizes them instead of who invented them so i guess it's worth the distinction
@rattusgrenadus8291 yea i guess the distinction itself is real but in this case doesnt matter
Yeah who even is this guy, he misplays all the time and dont pick the right cards
Hi Jeef. I just hit 7k mmr right after leaning stuff from your VDO! Many thanks 🙏

Just got back into BGS and was thinking the other day “I wish there was a good recent video breaking down leveling curves.” Thanks man!
Appreciate both the general and specific principles. Thank you for taking the time to explain leveling in such detail!
actuallly needed this because this is so helpful for curves.
He is goated with the guides, looking forward to seeing what else you have coming up 😊
I'm a newer BG player, started just two weeks ago or so, and these videos are helping me put things into perspective. Hopefully I remember enough to have it affect my gameplay ^_^
bro, why would rewatch you explain it so damn clean its a real eye opener and a pleasure at the same time! WOW good f* job/video
U should upload more. I just discovered your channel and already in love with it
Thank you mate, murloc dragon was trash to me until you showed me that pairing. Missed a beat on that one
Good video! Definitely had to go back and listen twice to a few segments but really informative stuff in here I haven't played battlegrounds in a long time so feels good to be back

Bro even with 8k MMR I learned so much in this vid. It's really appreciated ❤
Amazing guide been playing for like 3 years and it was still clutch
The best Hearthstone player and content creator! Hopefully I'll hit 10k MMR this season, been stuck on 9 - 9.3k for so long...
I don't got friends, but amazing guide man. Very easy to understand, and the quizzes are a great touch
Thank you for your thorough breakdown of leveling, I've heard of the reasoning before from Shadybunny, shit units so it's better to level, but never could understand the particulars. Especially the early tiers, thank you so much Jeef
Jeef is the best player!
i cant remember the last time I watched an entire youtube video instead of just pasting the transcript into chatgpt, very nice
I just started playing Hs again after a few years, and BG like 3 days ago. I suck so bad lol, but your vid def gave me some insight on what I need to do. Crazy how lost I feel currently, lol, but def seems learnable.

Greetings from Sweden!
I love your teaching videos, use them to try and better my game
keep em coming :)
Jeef just dropping quality content! Love it!
I really liked the example board states. It would be cool to show harder decisions board and have you other top players discuss them
great editing, great script, great tips, 10/10
(maybe someone else commented this as well)
the 'correct' play here at 1:26 is :
buy coin sell, buy 1/4 -> Hero power , freeze - so you get two fresh slots next round
thank you for the informative video
(and do pardon my above comment, thinking i know something)
The play turn 1 is "pick wrath wreaver, freeze and jandice HP" 😎😎
Nice video btw !
Really enjoyed the recent uploads. Looking forward to more. Thanks, Jeef
Oh men, thanks a lot Jeef. This is solid gold!
these vis are so helpfull to us lower mmr, great work, plz keep them coming.
Informative, well-explained, and I LOVE the practice questions. Thank you for making this!
I’m 9k mmr and watching this video made me realize how trash I am. Thanks
Missplay at 1:22 the answer is definetely buy the 1/4 and use your hp on it for value
Nice vid jeef, ty for taking your time making this
What a chill ass dude
You're getting way better at these videos keep it up!
Great in-depth analysis, thx Jeef 🙏
Amazing video Jeef! Thank you
Thanks! Really helpfull, great examples, Nice structured explanation of your thinking
watched it twice
liked and subscribed

When I was watching this video while Jeff's talking about Jeff curve: "Oh this Jeff Curve is interesting maybe I'll try it next time. Wait... isn't this name familiar? Must have heard of that somewhere but I just can't remember 😅😂"
I think it would be cool to see playing scenarios with bad luck like how to play that stuff because 90% of videos involve high rolls
Could you please do a video on which tier to play on and key cards to look out for each tribe?
my tribe tierlist covers that
we have invented Hard Core Hearthstone, or Pokestone as we call it. we play a private round, then the winner picks a rule we all play with, i.e. only tier 1/3/5 or, only undead, or no death rattles. it's fun and makes us more better in a public lobby.
woah i learned so much from this video thanks jeef
Glad to hear it!
Love these educational videos! More please
1:28 better play: buy the Jesse, freeze, and swap
I can see your point but if all you need to buy next turn is Frontdrake and Coin then there is no point to doing that cuz most of the time you won't freeze the next board anyway
Pinkman is just a dead minion in the shop at this point, so now you have 1 extra shop space for an eventual frontdrake triple. @@SongUn222
it's definitely the better play. You clear a space to potentially hit the triple.
I don't think triple frontdrake on turn 3 is a good idea let alone freeze it@@Nissshaant
i would freeze it and take a 4. You can get good dragons@@SongUn222
jeef rly wants me to not waste any penny like an accountant
A guide about triples and/or rolling please!
Thanks man, need more videos like this!
great video man. excited to implement those tips in my gameplay as well :)
Shared! LOL Even though I am the new player :3 Still though this is a very newbie friendly way to explain it. Helps if you come over from another card game, and did have to replay some of it, but super helpful!
Bro literally is named after a curve what a legend.
When should I refresh?
Do you think double leveling to 3 on turn 5 is still viable on Reno when there are economy units on 1?
TLDR : Don't float gold and rolling in the first couple rounds is a waste of gold
thanks man, i appreciate your time and knowledge
Good content. Commenting for the algorithm
Another jeef video another like by me
Thanks for sharing this!
I've just come back after 2 years away... was a 7k player. I haven't came first once 😢 it's so different.
Great video. Very helpful.
…Who are you to tell us what to do..?! (watched the whole vid, great tutorial Jeef)
Awesome video bro please bless us with more
