    You’re out there doing it ! There are no rules, no pack drill. Change your mind? Change plans. I’m always doing that. Spike Milligan said “ I don’t have plan , therefore nothing can go wrong”

    Your films are a breath of fresh air in the mad world we're living in. Thank you for going to all that effort to show us the beautiful parts of Britain that we never seem to find time to go a see. Excellent.

    When i started watching i thought "Geez Barry, you're a brave man doing that on a gravel bike!" The first bit around Hope valley and the broken road is my neck of the woods. 😀

      Haha, or 'what a tit' I think i did push the boundary of what 'gravel' is. The bike is totally capable if you can hold on, just not at high speed :-)

    Lovely work Barry. I've intended to ride this myself a couple of times but life has got in the way. Always nice to see my local trails - I had no idea the ridge along Mam Tor was on the route. I had a great bivvy up there a few years back. And when we're not feeling it, we're not feeling it. No need to force it.

    Always great to see a new vid from you Barry, even if things didn't go to plan. And yeh, when it's time to go home, just go home. It's just for fun after all, and when you're done you're done. Hope the trip back home went smoothly. You never did do the BG Tips on how to book bikes on trains (or maybe I just missed it?), to be honest I always assume it'll be an unreliable nightmare and end up driving everywhere. Would love to hear more about your experiences in that regard. Anyway, looking forward to seeing your next adventure. As ever, thanks for taking the time to share this stuff with us.

      @barrygodin7538  2 роки тому

      Hey Jon! Well I have filmed quite a lot of the train BG tips, but then have never put it together, the problem is it is just very hard haha, so would be more of a rant video rather than an instructional film haha. Thanks so much for the support!!!

    I think drops subconsciously encourage you to continually crack on, do you think that route on a more usual Barry steed would have seen you over to Carlisle?

    • @barrygodin7538
      @barrygodin7538  2 роки тому +1

      Hey! I have to say I did see you comment a few days ago and have pondered over it, I think I might of made it to Carlisle if I was on the mtb bike. For one I would of been more full of fun. I can slog away for hours on end as long as I know I will get my adrenaline shot at some point, so that would of kept me going and having fun.

    Great video. I'm planning to ride the whole GNT in May on my gravel bike. I know the English section will be tough but figure the Scottish legs will be better suited to a gravel bike and the roads coming back South. What sort of distances are possible in a long day?

    • @barrygodin7538
      @barrygodin7538  Рік тому

      Hey Martin! Oh what an adventure your going to have! And yes the scotland routes are still tough but less large gravel ;-) i recon big days 70-80miles are achievable but back to back it is tougher, just take it easy and enjoy yourself

    • @barrygodin7538
      @barrygodin7538  2 роки тому

      Haha, I am saying be prepared and hang on :-) for me I love the rush to descending and on the gravel bike felt restricted on the descents so was not having as much fun as normal. But then my normal bike is heavier and slower on the road and flatter trails, so it is all what we find the most fun :-)
