Thank you for sharing. Really showed it how tough it is. Weight is a huge factor, as is the weather. Perhaps think about staying B&B from time to time to charge your own and your equipment's batteries? - of course that can't happen with the lockdown or in the winter, when most B&B's shut down. I really learned a lot from you. Much appreciated mate. Stay safe.
The thing that did it was the route pushing up jacobs ladder which I didn’t realise at the time is an alternative harder route on the great north trail so I could of avoided it all together. I think if I hadn’t of done that I would of been ok at least for another couple of days. But yeah a night in a b&b would of helped as well with the bad weather. I have plans for another bikepacking trip in the spring. I honestly don’t think I could of gone any lighter to be honest I didn’t take anything that wasn’t necessary some people said a bivvy might be lighter but I have compared weights with my tent and honestly my tent is lighter and more weather proof.
Good effort in tough conditions. I live next to the peaks and it makes for tough riding particularly on a laden bike. I look forward to the return : ) PS. The only thing guaranteed about the weather in the peaks is, its gonna change in a moment!
Thanks the hike a bike up Jacobs ladder is what destroyed me I think, I always forget how difficult that section is. I have some plans to make more videos.
The Peak district is so tough! When I did the E.W.E in 2013 I had less than half the weight you were carrying. It took 20 days, and i did stay in a B&B some nights. There are always times when you feel down ,and want to give up, but that can change so quickly to feeling elated. Though you had shitty weather the whole way. Well done for completing the challenge and I'm sure you'll be up for more this year.
Good representation of 'the suffering' of bike touring haha. Great video of the first leg though to give me an idea of the terrain. Definitely have to avoid the ladder, cheers
Lol that looked like hard work mate. Especially over that terrain made even more miserable by the weather. I bet you were glad to see Hayley after all that.
Ha yes it was quite the hike! For this video I used the insta360 however I wasn’t happy with the audio from it. So I have replaced it with the GoPro max which gives the same effect but the audio is much better quality. Check out my Ben lomond video for a comparison that was shot with the GoPro. Both cameras shoot in 360 degrees and then you can point it in whatever direction you like when you come to edit the video. It is a bit more work but gives some good perspectives.
@@weekendwarriorcycling1256 that is so cool thank you. Great for documenting solo trip. Good luck with the GB divide. Look forward to seeing it, its on the list!
Thank you, I used an insta360 one r so it shoots in 360 degrees. I then edit the footage to point in the direction I want it to afterwards. I have swapped to the GoPro max 360 camera as I wasn’t happy with the sound quality from the insta360 camera. I have a normal GoPro as well but if you watch my Ben Lomond video you can see the same thing with 360 GoPro camera I have now.

I was looking forward to seeing the tent set up 🤦♂️ That looked like tough work and character building weather.
Thanks I don't mind a bit of bad weather usually but after 3 days it gets a bit much

Alan Haddy yes avoid it and stick to the Pennine bridleway for sure

I dont like to make things look easy, yes was good to get home!
Sadly people get the wrong impression of the great north trail it cost very little to produce it's just some ramshackle farm tracks thrown together .
That terrain looks insane. Also what camera are you using the shots are awesome!

@@going.pottie thanks it’s going to be a tough one!
Loved it, well done. I echo that last comment though - how did you film it??
