Paul was gracious enough to let me intern at the Smoakstack many years ago. Very grateful for that experience and can attest to the excellence of Paul and that studio. That space and the collection of gear is insane.
I could listen to him talk about the history and story behind EVERY! SINGLE! THING! In that place! As mush as i love the music and gear aspect of these videos, i gotta say, hearing the stories behind how people have aquired their gear over the span of decades is just food for the soul to me!
Millions of $Dollars$!!! One does not just come upon this by "Coming to Nashville with a Dream". There is more to this story than meets the eye. Very impressive studio.
Had the pleasure of recording at many studios in Nashville and the times I've been able to work in Smoakstack have been by far my favorite... instant vibe and energy and Paul is just such a talented and wonderful person. If you'd believe it his space has been this vibey and packed with great gear since I first recorded a song there in 2009! Been waiting for this tour since you started your channel! Also, seeing the space again makes me realize just how much it must have imprinted on me, I've totally done my best to set my (much smaller) space up to feel the way those rooms did without even realizing it, to me this is what peak studio looks like.... Hell, could say the same for how I've decorated the rest of my house 😂
One of my favorite studios you have shown us Andrew. The gear is absolutely mind-blowing. The guy also seems really cool and humble much like yourself.
Amazing. The guitar and keyboard collection is just beyond! First became aware of Paul playing w Bukovac and Ann Wilson, thanks for sharing his studio. I’m in awe.
Yo I visited this outside of this place last Saturday, it’s very low key. Berryhill has a vibe I really dig. There is a small park that’s surrounded by music studios it is so chill and it was a transformative experience. I was almost was in tears. Because it was so beautiful to me to see all these studios in one area. I just soak it all in and felt very fortunate to just be around all of them. Because of your videos I wouldn’t have know about this area. (Other than blackbird studio’s because I saw on fuse years ago ) Thank you 🙏 for your videos! 😊
Paul is the absolute man! Paul changed my life and is such a great dude in a city full of goobs. But hey Paul....aren't we never supposed to turn the lights on full?
Andrew I love all of your videos and the vibes of so many of the rooms you go to, but this studio and the atmosphere that he created is absolutely on fire.. super instane amount of amazing gear, mics, and instruments but still a comfortable warm welcoming feeling to it also! 🔥
Man great video Andrew!!!!!THIS IS PURE MOTIVATION FOR ME MAN!!! Man you wouldn't believe me but please do man. Much respect and keep doing what you are doing! You're very great at this....
We had a handful of those baby neve sidecars at the TV studio I work. The offline video edit suites used them bascially for monitoring. A couple years after I started here, prolly in 2003-2004 the boss replaced them all with yamaha 01vs.. and the baby NEVEs went away.. I hinted at wanting one.. He played with the bait but didnt take it.. (wanted to have direct outs put into is to use as a drum tracking cosnole) I can only assume there are a couple in the attic or deep storage in this place.. its a huge facility thats been around since the late 50s..
How do you record drums with all the guitars and the gong and keep them from vibrating and picking up sound from the strings and gong and other things I see that can probably make noise if vibrated enough.
I may be the only one who realizes this, but this guy has so much Catholic stuff all over his studio! As a Catholic, I greatly appreciate his forwardness!
This is definitely one of my favorite studios I’ve been to! Absolutely amazing. What are some of your favorite parts??
I don't even know how to react! I keep having to pick my jaw up! Haha!
Killer, killer studio with amazing tools and incredible toys!
My absolute favourite is YOU, man. You’re doing great stuff exposing these facilities to all of us, much appreciated, Andrew!
THe dreads
thanks for this one. wow. im in awe of this stop.
I was an engineer at the smoakstack for almost 10 years. Paul has been a great mentor and friend and I run my studio the way I do because of him.
Paul was gracious enough to let me intern at the Smoakstack many years ago. Very grateful for that experience and can attest to the excellence of Paul and that studio. That space and the collection of gear is insane.
17:33 I’m digging the candles and marry😊

Yes. Its called "born rich" ... car dealerships make huge piles of cash.
What an amazing place. You can see his heart is in every piece there. Thank you for sharing. Have a blessed day.
People don’t build studios like this without being absolutely in love with music and it’s history

dude's space is ridiculous. it's probably the coolest vibe of any studio featured on this channel.
so cool, some of my fav artists in tobymac and mat Kearney recording there is crazy to me
this is by far my fav studio omg, the mixture of options I could record here for like a month 20 hour days
One of my favorite studios you have shown us Andrew. The gear is absolutely mind-blowing. The guy also seems really cool and humble much like yourself.
Orthodox icons...noce touch 👍

Paul is the absolute man! Paul changed my life and is such a great dude in a city full of goobs. But hey Paul....aren't we never supposed to turn the lights on full?
It's not just a studio, it's a music lab and looks like music store
Absolutely beautiful studio, the entire set up is amazing, right down to the decorative pieces that give it such a warm feel.
Awesome studio ! Hats off to you Paul Moak...your gear collection is far better than most pro studios I've worked in. Very well done Sir !
What an awesome room and Paul is very humble.

I always wanted a studio. This is a beautiful one.
We had a handful of those baby neve sidecars at the TV studio I work. The offline video edit suites used them bascially for monitoring.

incredible! especially for an extended ranch house. I need to hit the lottery! lol.
Epic!
Quite amazing!!!!!!!!
The Aphex 204 is SO good. Love seeing them in the wild
"Studio Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" ... or at least rich in awesome gear!
Great religious art and collection of crosses! God's blessings to you!
Wild.
incredible. all boxes checked. no clavinet. that was about it 😂
Wow I would never leave that place 😮
Oh man. That is another studio where I'd love to write and record an album at.
Awesome content!
Omg! Whats / who is that song in the opening sequence! Do share!
Wow, I saw a Roland chorus echo, had one just like it in the early 80's
bro i need this video another hour long nothing too crazy!!!! gear questions, Fairchild !! setups, Gear chains, Great video bro !!!
Check out the last video i posted, we go through his drum chain, it's dope.
@@AndrewMasters Killer thanks brother ! I'm a super nerd what can i say
WoW Nice studio
WOW

Well, that wouldn't suck. That's one of those where you jump in the golf cart and head down to push the bass up a couple dB.
Dude Lives Christmas 365!!!
Awesome 👽UK
I love plugin 😂
Legit
Wow!! Gat damn
Damn.
What's he using that V676a lunchbox for???
Lonnie Court
I may be the only one who realizes this, but this guy has so much Catholic stuff all over his studio! As a Catholic, I greatly appreciate his forwardness!
Noice!
Dope studio! What is the song in the intro? Those hits slap man.
Ohio Laundry Room - Abby Holliday
Do all those acoustics live next to the drums? Seems like they would create a lot of resonance from the drums?
👍
I like his hair
What are those two huge far away loudspeakers.
NOT A WORD ABOUT THE FAIRCHILD
yep
This guy has Guitar Center in his studio.
Weird Mikael Akerfeldt calls himself Zach and works as a studio engineer in the US 🤣
PAUL?!
I have one Tascam 4 track and one Tascam 8 track. I spent $300. This looks like it costs much more.
There's s much gear that even the Fairchild didn't make the cut.
You folks that trash the old TC Finalizer take note. It's in one of the baddest studios on earth!
👍 #600
