Enjoyed your tutorial, especially using the silhouette software. I definitely would enjoy more of these educational videos.❤️
I love your teachings on Silhouette Studio, I downloaded it and tried to self teach I ended up giving up. I would love to see more. You are very talented, thank you for great content.
The crosshatch pattern worked great. I did tighten the hatch I couldn’t see any lines skipped. I used an anodized aluminum disc. I was going to use the lines but after seeing your video you saved me time and materials. Thank you! Your coaster should say I don’t Cricut without silhouette design. 😉
This is so informative! I have been very intimidated by the engraving tool and this gave me the confidence to try. But by far the best part for me was your amazing instruction on silhouette studio and saving files for exporting to design space! I didn’t know I could do that and you just changed my crafting game!! Thank you Karley!
Yet again - another brilliant tutorial! To the point and easy to follow/understand. Very much appreciated - thank you.
This is a great tutorial! I just bought a Cricut maker and it is great to know there is another design space!
Thank you for this tutorial! I was going crazy trying the replicate the hatches in Illustrator, but this convinced me I just needed to take the plunge on Silhouette Studio. In fact, I have an engraving project going right now. I'm excited to see how it turns out!
Love how you showed how to use the silhouette software. I have both machines, so for me, this was fantastic! Great video!
Perfectly taught. Precise and quick. My new go-to for help! Thank you so much.
this is AMAZING please make so many more silhouette tutorials. i just bought the business version just because of this video and i dont even have a cameo!!!
I have a Cricut Maker and just purchased a Silhouette Cameo 4 and love to see you doing Silhouette Studio as well as Cricut Design Space! Because I’m new with Silhouette I really enjoy your video today!!
Is there a particular reason why you purchased the Cameo when you already have the Maker? Im really curious. Thanks
Thanks Karley, really creative idea to engrave with a pattern fill. This was my first look at the Silhouette software. I would like to see more tutorials showing how to use Silhouette Studio.
Thank you. Very thorough, quality conscious -- and appreciated.
Great job. Really like how they turned out. Nice job.
Fantastic! I'm a Silhouette Studio/Cameo 4 user and just purchased a Cricut Maker.
Thank you for this tutorial! All the way in Ireland and you have helped so much. I really hope Cricut become more readily available here :-)
This was a great, easy video to follow, even for first-time Silhouette Studio user! Thank you!
Thank you soooo much for this video!!! I’ve been a Cricut Fan for Years!!! There are some functions in Silhouette that I have seen lately that I love! I didn’t not know that you could save the text as an SVG and import the image into Design Space 🤯. I guess I’ll purchase the business edition. I hope that Cricut comes out with an update with some of the features you showed us!
Thanks for this helpful video! I'd love more Silhouette tutorials please!
Thank you. I would love to learn more about Silhouette Studio
Great tutorial. Very informative and easy to follow and understand. Haven’t gotten my maker yet but wanting to learn as much as I can before I start using it when I do get it. Subscribed and thanks again 😊
Love the video & you showed the imperfections
Such an informative tutorial, thank you.
Thank you for the tutorial. I would be very interested in learning more about how to use silhouette studio. I have been using Inkscape and it isn’t always the easiest to use. Thanks so much.
Very informative video def going to reference this A LOT!
That looks great!!!!!
Enjoyed the Silhouette tutorial. Would like to see more.
I had no idea cricut could do this. Wow this is so cool. I love it. Cant wait till I know what I'm doing lol TFS
Thank you, you are a great teacher!
Love!
Thanks sooo much. I use Silhouette software all the time to create art for my Cricut. I think Silhouette's software excels in the same way Cricut Maker's use of materials excel. Thanks for not making me feel like a "crafting polygamist" for using both to reach my project goals. I'm checking out the laser cutter you mentioned, too, and bookmarking your video for when I have time to engrave.
I've had a Silhouette for quite a while. I bought a Cricut first, but it began mis-feeding the mat one week after the warranty ran out. That was added frustration because the machine sat unused for the first few months until I had time to sit down and learn how to use it. Cricut wouldn't extend the warranty a week, so between barely getting to use it, and no support, I went with Silhouette for my replacement. I loved Silhouette because I didn't have to buy cartridges. It's software is awesome, particularly the upgraded versions and it does things I could only do in Adobe Illustrator otherwise. However, lately, I've begun to miss not being able to use all the different materials Cricut Maker allows for, so I'm giving Cricut another chance. I bought the Maker. I've already cut fabric and I'm very happy with the results. I just hope the Maker lasts as long as my now aging Silhouette. I look forward to checking out your other videos.
Hahah "crafting polygamist!" I love that! I am happy we both enjoy the best of both worlds!!! Thanks for your kind feedback! I really appreciate it!
GREAT project!
This was so helpful!!! I was looking everywhere how to do a foil quil fill in letters and it would be the same technique than this engraving but this silhouette software makes it easier..would you do more tutorials on the software with tips for using it in different projects? Thsnk you!
This was a fabulous video. If the lines are occurring in different areas, it makes me wonder if you load it through a second time, whether it would fix the mixed lines. Looking forward to trying this - awesome !!
Thanks Karley!
Great video, you got a new subscriber!
this video earned you a subscriber. You did a great job in explaining, and also were so honest in pointing out the defects.
Those lines would drive me nuts; I am too much of a perfectionist like OCD overload. lol
anyway, I hope cricut will fix the issue, because for my personal preference those lines ruin the project.
Thank you again,
Too cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just got my engraving tip last night! This tutorial was great!!! Thank you! Can't wait to try mine out!
Thanks for sharing!!
New sub. Thanks so much
I’ve been using silhouette for near on 7 years now, and had no idea I could do some of those things 😂, I’m terrible for not using that software lol thanks for the video, I’m jumping ship and getting a maker soon! Can’t wait!!!!
Awesome vid thanks
Thank you for doing this. I tried to use the tool in my maker and it was a disaster. I also did not know I could use Silhoutte with Cricut. I have both. Now if I can find your blog.
Love ur tutorial
super helpful
Awesome video with specific instruction for using the software....best video for the Circuit Maker I've seen in a while. Keep making videos combining both various materials and the software process. As a beginner Cricut Maker crafter, I went from not knowing how to do engraving and 25:05 minutes I went from dumb to pro. Thanks.
Very helpful because this is brand new to me
Very nice, EASY to understand video. Pleasant cadence to your voice kept me interested.
This is a great tutorial. I would love more help with Silhouette Studio.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I'm a new Cricut Maker owner. I haven't used it yet. I'm excited to get started.
Oh my once you start usimg your cricut you will not want to stop..i have been on mine just about everyday since 1st week in march lol i love mine so much..i have learned so much and learned how to make so many things.. since march we've had 8 birthdays so i have made all my gifts and also made my.mothers day gifts as well and all was in amazement and all loved everything tht ive made..good luck happy crafting..
YOUR GONNA LOVE YOUR CRICUT!!
I would love to learn more about Silhouette..I have Silhouette Business Edition and a Cricut Maker..I am very interested in learning and incorporating the two
If you want to get rid of the lines, use a fiberglass brush. You can put fiberglass bristles in a mechanical pencil to use it on small projects. This works on plastics. You can also use a fine file like the ones used in jewelry making or electronics. These will work for metal or wood.
Loved this tutorial! New subscriber! I’m contemplating purchasing Silhouette Studios to do designs I can’t seem to do in Design Space but really intimidated. I would to see more videos.
Michelle Mitchell it’s the best time to buy it! It’s 50% tonight if you use code “sugarbee” when you check out! www.silhouetteamerica.com/shop/software-and-download-cards/silhouette-studio
I have another video showing how to offset! But don’t worry there will be a lot more in the future! 🥰
@@KarleyHall crap! I think I missed it. It says $100 now. Is that right? I thought it was $79 regular price
Michelle Mitchell did you try to use the coupon code? I’m not sure if the mother day sale expired. But yes regular price is $100 on Silhouette but $79 on 651Vinyl! www.651vinyl.com/silhouette-studio-business-edition-green-envelope.html?partner=310676
I loved the Glowforge! Of course, mine was sitting there and did nothing! So I sold it. I paid $2500 in Sept 2015 and I never received it until Dec 2017. Yes, I was one of the crazy first adopter. When I sold it, I got $2200.
thanks great video
THANK YOU
thanks for this geat tutorial , would this work on an image like a handprint or footprint?
Thanks
Yes please to the tutorials, thank you
Thank you for the tutorial.I’m going to try this. Just wondering if you ran the engraving twice( like back to back ) ..maybe the lines would get filled in?
More Silhouette Studio tutorials!
You are a genius! Please make more videos and have a workshop for the really needy people. Hahahahaha.. What computer do you have, because mine isn't compatible. Thank you again for helping us!
I use a Macbook Pro, but most macs and PCs are compatible. I just would not recommend a device like an ipad or chromebook since this is a pretty intense program!
More Silhouette tutorials please.
Great tutorial..do you know if these would work as a fondant embosser as well ?
I wish you would do a video on engraving blanks and tags either the Cricut explorer. Your video was great.
Me too.
Such a great video, thanks. I have a Silhouette and a Cricut Maker. I always love how easy it is to offset text in Silhouette. I can't understand why Cricut doesn't have an offset. I've battled with my DS and pc for over a year, because my Windows 10 pc (4gb RAM), it's just not fast enough. I have an iMac on order. Looking at the speed of yours - it should be so much better. May I ask how many gb RAM your laptop has please? Thanks in advance x
Just purchased my maker so I’m watching all of these videos to prepare myself 😂. I knew that it wanted to try the engrave feature. But I didn’t know that I’d need to use silhouette.
You don’t need to use silhouette! It works just fine without it :) you only need SS if you want to fill the letters.
Very informative. I’ve never watched a Silhouette tutorial since I have a Cricut. So ironic that you had to use Silhouette Studio to show your love for Cricut 😂 I really wish Cricut would step up their game 🙄
Haha! I actually worked at Silhouette America before I worked at Cricut! So I love taking advantage of what each company does best!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Always interested in finding new things to make with my Cricut. Very informative.
This is giving me more reasons to upgrade my Explorer to a Maker.
I got the same thickness of blank and I’m having issues with the residue scratching the blank. I’ve tried blowing it away with a sprayer like you and brushing the metal roller while it works. Do you have the same problem? I can’t find any other blanks that are thinner
Great tutorial! If you enlarge the design to 283.5% before saving it in svg, it will have the perfect size in the design space.
Interesting! I’ve never heard that! I’ll give it a try! Thanks :)
Thanks for sharing.. Will it engrave stones or glass?
The heart ypu put in was solid and you did something to make it a outline! What did you hit?
I have some acrylic blanks that are just a tad less thick than yours (2.4mm/.24cm) and I haven't tried running it through the machine, but if I just lay it on the mat and put it up to the rollers, it doesn't look like it will go under. Should I just try it? I don't want to ruin my Maker.
I’m a beginner so enjoy beginner help. I’m glad you mentioned silhouette because it helps you save your creations from my understanding. Thank you.
Yes! If you have business edition, you can save your creations as an SVG! It’s really helpful if you create design and need to send them to other people!
Hi, thank you so much for this amazing project! I wanted to ask if you have heard back from Cricut? I am doing my research before buying one. thank you :)
That was awesome I did know Silhouette studio was so versatile. Thank you for sharing that... So I installed the version 4.4 and it doesn't seem to give you the option to save as an SVG only two types of silhouette files and a GSP. I was so looking forward to using this software...
You need to upgrade to business edition for that option! I have link in the video description :)
What machine would you recommend me to buy..... Though thanks so much
I bought the business addition in silhouette and is still not allowing me access to the stipple panel?
I am glad you shared this with us and Cricut. It is now May 31, did Cricut get back to you?? I am not buying their machine until it's working precisely.
I followed up, but I assumed there has been limited time to test since the cricut headquarters are still observing social distancing guidelines and most employees can’t go to the office. :/ I should clarify that the engraving tool works great! In this video, I’m teaching a “hack.” I assume cricut will eventually come out with their own vector fill technology that will work. I like hacking things, but this is not recommended by cricut.
Thank you so much for your great video. I'm asking you if I can use the fill text options in basic version of software too. :-)
You can use it, but need business edition to export it and bring it into cricut!
Karley Hall Thank you ❤️
great video - just getting started! Which laser cutter do you have? Couldn't find the link - thanks!
Laser Cutter/ Glowforge: glowforge.us/r/ZGVHHUNH I have the pro version!
This is a great tutorial. Thank you. What specifically is it that Cricut design studio doesn't do? Is it the fill in the lettering?
I am waiting delivery of my new Cricut Maker so I'm very new to Design Space.
Right now there is no way to "vector" fill fonts and images in Cricut's Design Space
Hi Karley, Great tutorial thank you. I'm a newbie. Can you do things like this on a maker 3 with no mat? Or should I buy a mat for my maker 3? Thanks
You can absolutely do this with the maker 3 but you’ll need a mat and the engraving tip with the quick swap tool :)
I got cricut maker 3 . Can you use a ipad doing engraving
Where did you get your storage units to the right of you?
I have so many questions about using silhouette with maker. I just got my maker at xmas, still learning.
I went to free version of silhouette. Which machine do we pick after uploading for maker?
Love your video.
Thank you.
You will choose your Maker in Cricut Design Space! Let me know if I am not understanding your question!
These are so cool! Did you use free silhouette studio or is it pro version? Thanks
You will need the Business Edition version to export your file to an SVG! But you can design and play around in the free version before you invest!
Does this work for the very small keychains?
Why do you use Silhouette Studio instead of DS? I find DS not intuitive and cumbersome to use but have not considered using SS. Thanks.
I cannot get my engraving central :-( It's correct on the computer and the metal disc is perfectly central on my mat, but the design still comes out off centre...any advice?
Can i be able to do this on my cricut explore air 2
Great tutorial-thank you. Can you repeat this for the Silhouette Cameo please?
The cameo doesn’t have an engraving blade- other than 3rd party tools not sold by Silhouette. One of the reasons the maker is my favorite machine :)
Thank you for answering so quick.
Hello, I am curious, since you have a Glowforge Laser Machine and a Cricut Maker, would you engrave on the laser machine in the future instead of the Cricut? It takes less time and doesn't leave the line gaps where the tool rotated? I just bought a Cricut but haven't used it yet. I love laser machines and used to use mine (pre-Covid) when the library's maker's space is open. I was thinking of investing in the laser machine for home use since the library's machine is not often available. Thanks
Social Crafting Collective oh yes! I always engrave with my laser! But since most of my subscribers own Cricut machines, I wanted to show this technique :)
Hy, I can do the same whit the Cameo 4 ? Thank you !
Hi I just bought my cricut maker. And have so many craft ideas. Can you do an engraving but with some artwork instead of words? That's my plan and I'd love some tips on how to perfect it. Love your youtube and have already learned so much!
Yes! You can use any shape with this technique :) thanks so much for your kind feedback!!
@@KarleyHall Thank you do you have any videos of showing this would love to look thank you!
Awesome tute! Did cricut get back to you on this issue?
Nope! I’ve emailed them a bunch and have not heard back. Most of their employees are working from home, so I’m sure the priorities shifted a bunch!
Hi Karley. Thank you so much for this tutorial. Very, very helpful. With your instruction, I created my design on silhouette basic and all went well until I tried to save it as a SVG file to export to use on Cricut Design space and I wasn't able to do so. Do I need to upgrade to business in order for me to do that? TIA
Claudia Sanchez unfortunately you do need business edition edition to export it as an SVG!
@@KarleyHall Thank you so much for your prompt response. I will purchase the business edition. Looking forward to more of your tutorials :)
