    I do not see why people are complaining. Not a single "grandmaster draw" so far. All games show us what "dynamic equality" and "chances for both sides" really mean. The draws are because they so far played with super-computer-like accuracy to *keep* the balance and *neutralize* each other's chances, often in positions (and time pressure) in which 2500 "patzers" would lose.

      Leon Marshall a weak player, a "fish". Of course I don't mean it literally speaking of 2500s. I mean that these guys are so much better even than the average grandmaster it's amazing.

    The heat is on... Thank you Jerry, not only for your hard work on these videos, but also recognising the excitement and intensity of the games. I've seen a lot of comments that the championship is boring due to draws, and that's one way of looking at it. The other is to enjoy the games for what they are - a clash of two chess titans.

    What about 30. c4? If 30. ...d5, white can play cxd5 with a punch against the queen. After 31. ...Qxd5 32. Rb5 Qe6, doesn't white stand slightly better due to not having three pawns in the center to deal with? How would black respond to 30. c4?

  • @mcewenreil9241
    @mcewenreil9241 6 років тому

    Also, and I'm sure you've noticed this, at 8:17 in the variation that wasn't played, where the Knight takes the Bishop, you could pin a rook by 22.Nd7. If the takes the knight by 22.Qxd7 then white can take the queen safely by 23Qxd7, leaving white with an enormous advantage. Assuming black doesn't do that, he would have to choose which rook to let die. Either rook is defended, so which would be less damaging to lose? I think myself, not being very good at chess, that the rook on b8 is less valuable as the rook on f8 is defending the kings camp. If the queen did this then the queen will only be acting as a rook only, wich would be a big waste.

    Hey Jerry do you think we are seeing the logical result of GMs using the same engines (in strength) so they are basically preping to a draw every game and we are seeing less and less of the players moves and getting simply a remembered engine vs engine game? Rapid will be different I think and we should get a better representation of the players strength as they dont have enough time to remember the lines. Having said that Im a huge fan of TCEC.

  • @kindlin

    Can someone explain to me why the two players go from almost no time to +40 minutes at 28:45 for white (pawn g4) and at 29:17 for black (rook c6). I can't see any correlation between these two events. I _thought_ it was when they took the queen trade, but that had no effect on the time! Is the time updating just lagging behind??

    WHAT? A draw?? I wonder if this is because of how the understanding of chess has evolved to the point that it's "figured out" to us humans the the extent we are capable of figuring it out. Would Kasparov in his prime be better than MC or FC?

    • @SJNaka101
      @SJNaka101 6 років тому +2

      Kasparov was an absolute monster of chess, but Magnus and fabi are computer trained machines. They would probably win a match against 90s Kasparov simply by being more prepared than him. Not saying they are better players than Garry, just more knowledgeable about the game. As far as the "figured out" question, no. Humans are miles below the ceiling of how good a chess player can theoretically be. In comparison to computers, MC would rarely, if ever, pull a draw from the top engines. Humans still have a lot of room to grow
