I really do not like the Sicilian Defense with the Nidorf or the Dragon. It is really easy to slay the dragon. All you have to do is eliminate the dragon knight, bust open the kingside, and hunt him down.
Hey jerry, i dont really know if you're going to read this, But i want to tell you that im almost addicted to your videos and to your analysis, your so smooth, your voice is just perfect, you dont waste our time with extra talk, you just analyze, its really enjoying to watch your channel, and im started to feel progress with your videos. Thank you, and please stay like this.
Watching the games with your descriptions and comments (and evident admiration for the brilliance involved, albeit modestly displayed) has been like visiting great artworks with experts. Whole new dimensions opened up, and great enjoyment. Thanks for all the hard work, Jerry. Going through your beginner to master series and greatly improving my understanding as well.
Beautiful initiative by Ivanchuck. I had to laugh when you said "If the queen gets into g6, you can kiss all these pawns good bye." :) I also really appreciate the moments you choose to make us think about the best next move. Best chess channel on UA-cam I know by a country mile!
I enjoy the video, I like how you express the moves clearly and options but then go back to the game, just so you can see the options. Fantastic. I learned about the h file move. Did not realize that. So very informative. Thank you
I saw that move in a second and my chess rating is shit LOL. That move just felt so obvious, can't believe one of the greatest players missed that. But that's what makes chess exciting.
I really like the way you explain why it can be done and why it can't. ... your videos are definitely gonna make a lot of better chess players. .. thanks
Be6. If cxd4 then Bxd4 and the white queen is dead, she must give herself up for the rook on f8. I dont think white would capture however, more likely is 20. Bxe6, fxe6 and white is doing well. Black has an open F file, but white will still ultimately win.
On move 39, could black reply with ...Rb7 ? This would interfere with white coordination on the back rank, and both rooks would be defended by the knight (if either rook is taken, the knight recaptures with a punch thrown at the queen). Unless I'm just not as observant of the board or followups, I'm not really seeing a good reply White can make to mitigate black's defense if 39 ...Rb7.
Additionally, Black may favor a rook-rook exchange, after 39 ...Rb7, because it forces white to consider capturing on b7 (if the white rook moves out of the way, the b5 pawn will drop with a check)
I have one question: in the endgame when Kasparov resigned the game, what would have happened if he played Rook to b7? In my opinion that would have been a save for black.
It's astonishing to see the then-world champion miss the quick equalization after 14.Bg7 and instead sac the queen in desperation so early in the game. Was this blitz? He couldn't have been in time pressure, and this shouldn't have been a move he spent less than 20+ minutes on. And it was the only other move to consider!
My point isn't that mistakes can't happen; it's that given the situation, he can't possibly have *missed* the other line entirely. That's just crazyness. I think that would be much more extreme than a grandmaster missing a mate in one. Anyone can overlook something that blindsides them, but if you're in a position that early in the game where you're faced with a queen sac, you're going to take stock of all the available options. And this was such an obvious idea, any patzer alert enough to notice the mate threat would spot the counter move right away... fianchettoing the bishop is one of the most obvious things in the world to do (it's not an "unusual feeling" move like the mate in one Kramnik missed.) That's how commonplace the counter-move was... it's a move that has its own special name. It's like... it's like the difference between getting in a freak accident with a lawnmower and losing your arm, vs. getting your arm stuck in the lawnmower (while it's off) and having to cut it off with a pocketknife out of desperation so that you don't starve to death. Freak accidents happen to everyone, professionals included, yeah. But the idea that someone would cut off their own arm without thinking long and hard about it and trying to figure out another way is... incredible. It's a different kind of incredible than simply being careless and missing a threat. To me, I think this is much more surprising than a grandmaster missing a mate in one. Because it's a conscious decision he made, not something that snuck up on him. And he definitely had lots of time left on his clock. The best I can figure is that there was some other danger he thought he saw deeper in the other line that turned out to be a mirage, but it was a danger that was so bad that he somehow thought it worth it to try rolling the dice on a queen for two minors exchange instead. It's an interesting mistake from a reigning world champion. I'm not denigrating him; I just think it's surprising and interesting to figure out how it could happen when he had an hour to think about it and he must've known that sacrificing the queen was an almost guaranteed loss.
Kasparov's blunder cost him this game. In a way, what caused Ivanchuk's victory was more because of Kasparov's mistake rather than Ivanchuk's skills (which undoubtedly is/was one of the highest in the world).
what blunder the bishop h6 from ivanchuk was sensational and even if only saving move from kasparov is played it only brings an even position where you could say ivanchuk has the slight initiative
Why do people play Sicilian if black mostly loses? (i lose but I am no master, let alone gm) but it seems like white always has extra advantage.(development and positioning)
I think Jerry was so concerned about a fortress being made in this video because of his 151-move brilliancy he had against stockfish, using a fortress lol
Oh man I remember that: "And the game-ending shot... Actually, you know what, let me throw a pop quiz your way. What would _you_ play as White? Feel free to... pause the video. Okay, there is one winning move here... _knight to g8._ And Stockfish has had enough. It throws in the towel. This game lasted 151 moves, certainly a very long one, uhh... but that last move. Killer."
hello master , thanks for all thing. please write name's players on the board and who the winner in the end of video because I cann't understand English (just 50%)

Your way of explanation and narration is one of a kind ... wonderful content ... and the funny things you say in between are just hilarious
Thank you
New drinking game. Every time Jerry refers to a rook as a pawn, take a shot!
I drink a lot but I don't want to get stupid drunk, no thanks.
Shallengge xccepted
I thought the same, But he actually means white has an extra pawn and a queen vs a rook and a knight of the black after the exchange 6:39
DÄRK PRIÑÇE ?
Love you Jerry. Your videos are my place of solace when times are tough. A nice space to escape to temporarily.
great game by ivanchuk, glad you feature these games against the top top players.

I can't believe Kasparov did not see Bg7 at 4:04 . It took me about a minute to think of that move.
abhinav shankar yeah i just saw it without really thinking

A Jerry video with Ivanchuk on it
2:08 am, I suppose instead of staying up way too late I could watch this in the morning and actually remember the video. Oh well.
Hey Jerry thank-you for the wonderful Analysis. Just one question, what does black do after c3 at 6:02 ?
Be6. If cxd4 then Bxd4 and the white queen is dead, she must give herself up for the rook on f8. I dont think white would capture however, more likely is 20. Bxe6, fxe6 and white is doing well. Black has an open F file, but white will still ultimately win.
probably the same as he did after the rook move, bishop to e6. moving the pawn would be a bad idea..
Best chess analyst on youtube
What a game!!!Unbelievable moves

Wow cool, thanks Jerry
Tks.
love these longer videos Jerry!
Amazing video
Hi. A(n amateur) question; here at 4:06 , why not move the rook to e8?
Great explanation
Ivanchuk v Kasparov at Linares in 91 was magnificent.
8:35 the pawns are doubled? op pawns 😁 great video!
Ah, just in time for dinner!
4:06 fails so find a move a grandmaster missed
Somehow still disappointed with self

10:02 why doesnt knight to e4 work now as white no longer has a useful check, is it not just a fork now?
3:30am and Jerry uploads, guess I won't be sleeping quite yet
When you said that you could kiss those pawns goodbye, i died
nice video
You keep asking if I took anything away... Jerry, I always take something away from yer videos!
8:35 "and the pawns are doubled" he says, as the rooks double up on the c file
I was going to comment this but thought of making a plagiarism check beforehand lol
04:12 Re8 was not a better option than Qd8?
Is there a move possible: istead of black move 33 - KH7, to make Knight e4 ???
Why didn't the knight go to d3 in 14:19 video ?
My guess at 2:22 - geez, that Nd5 is looking crazy good for white. That knight at F6 is essential. So... hmm..
what's wrong with Be6? Then WNe6?
pxd4?
Probably
3:55 You hit bacc, you Block the checc, but most importantly you attacc

Power Chess is the best!! GM Daniel King is a Grandmaster, having defeated once Kasparov and a greatest chess poet!
I found these tactics utterly offensive.
What happened to Vassily? lately I have not heard of him
Ivanchuk is a great Ukrainian player who deserved to be a world champion, in my opinion.
Nice vid jerry :) and also his name is pronounced (e-van-shuk) and not (eye-van-shuk).greetings from egypt 😃

Ivanhoe!
I thought I liked ivanchuks rossolimo against kasparov, but this was awesome
8:35 The rooks are probably offended by being called pawns hahaha. Nice game btw.
Why do people play Sicilian if black mostly loses? (i lose but I am no master, let alone gm) but it seems like white always has extra advantage.(development and positioning)
Kasparov: Can't find a simple bishop move, but sees that the pawn was poisoned.
""black can kiss these paws goodbye"
I think Jerry was so concerned about a fortress being made in this video because of his 151-move brilliancy he had against stockfish, using a fortress lol
