Eric, these speedrun episodes are likely among the best pieces of content on the internet - not just in chess but in general. Watching you play is wonderful and instructive and fun, as usual, but your approach and demeanor are even more meaningful, especially in world like the one we're living in right now. Thank you man, truly.
@@matthewtaylor1794i’m just some other rando but i feel similar to the other commenter even if it seems a bit much, eric just makes very very purely good hearted and instructive content and it feels like a rare thing online
Hi Eric, your videos have been a great source of solace for me while awaiting spinal cord surgery. Your chill nature, combined with the complexity of the positions, gives my mind luft above the pain. I just had a successful operation, and this huge burst of content has been great to watch while I'm stuck on my lazyboi. I'd love to see some more Italian games at this level if you feel like it. Thanks heaps dude
I see these videos pop up at night but I like to save and wait until the mornings and watch while sipping my coffee. Nice and calm chess is a good way to start the day.
An easy and well-deserved win in game two! Opponent barely even put up a fight and gave in as soon as they faced just a bit of pressure, classic! Great chess.
18:10 I'm so glad you noticed that because I saw that queen sacrifice in game and tried to analyse it but im only 1300 so I thought I must be missing something if you didn't play it 😂 Love this series since it began and keep up the great work! Please, definitely best series on UA-cam to me
when you have heavy contrasts in the footage with highs and lots of blacks and the cam is in automatic exposure the slightest movements (changing tones from dark black to just black a little bit) leads to exposure changes. 2 solutions: not wearing black. manual exposuring. anyway... thnx for any content. especially this speedrun is heavily instructive... and its always a pleasure to watch and hear you as you have a very nice voice. pretty symphatic. remembers me always a lil bit to bob ross... :)
Awesome to see some offbeat openings like the English. Would be cool to see you do a King’s Gambit against higher rated players. Force you to use different techniques to win the game.
If Eric had seen it and calculated it was poisoned he would definitely have said. It's a nice position to not see a free rook and still be winning. That's why people often play better when they're losing: you look harder for good moves then and aren't spoilt for choice with good-enough moves.
Just about to post that about 37:10 - why not simply Qb7 x Ra8? Glad to see I wasn't crazy and Eric just got fixated on the rook swap. Missed a free rook through excitement and still won handily! FROOK ignored leads to PORK and win.
I’ve been busy and have fallen behind on the speedrun episodes. Also the fact that you’ve been uploading so wonderfully diligently doesn’t help. Currently at episode 73, but I’ll be back and watch this one later after I caught up.
Eric in your last game of the speed run the missed a hanging rook. There was no need for the trade his bishop move left the rook hanging in the corner. Other then that great stuff
I love to see more English opening as a English Opening afficianado . Weirdly enough I tend to favor the 2.g3 against e5, but it is just personal preference . First time I saw the variation you got game 1. At the same I never play the move in that order. I tend to go Nf6 which can transpose into a neo Catalan if they go QID or could transpose into a Grunfeld if they go for a KID and they are structure I like because I play the indian defense . Though I could also just have a big white center if they don't go for the grunfeld and castle. I think the only opening I tend to struggle with the English is the Caro Kann because it tend to translate into Slav or Semi Slav defense which I'm not really in tune with the theory around those defense. Sometimes just to simplify thing against the Caro I just go for the Panov attack (not the full exchange one) just because it tend to go into similar structure to a QGD structure (1. c4 c6 2. e4 d5 3. exd5 cxd5 4. d4 Nf6 5. Nc3 e6 6. Nf3) or just something like that (1. c4 c6 2. e4 d5 3. exd5 cxd5 4. d4 Nf6 5. Nc3 Nc6 6. Nf3 Bg4 7. Be3) which are both more comfortable to me I really love seeing more and more of those speedrun episodes Sorry for this long comment but I just felt in love a lot with chess again recently.
In analyzing game 1, there comes the moment where Eric remarks, "Wait, this isn't good for white?" At the end of the sequence, he comments that black is compensated for the loss of the piece, but black did get 2 pawns for the piece, so it is only one centipawn loss in the exchange. Black also gets two united passed pawns in the center. The queen is poised to come to g3, so white will have to move his king up to prevent it, and white's pieces are cowering in a 2x3 block on the two back ranks. Black controls more of the board -- definitely not where white wants to be.
Thank you Eric for another wonderful speedrun episode! Love watching those. At least while watching I don’t think about what’s going to happen to America.
Love your content and even more you as a person. I have lost interest in this speedrun, since you clearly reached the goal, hopefully you will start a new one in the new year.
I’m assuming the over exposure was just from the glare of the engine reflecting in your eyes! 😂 Remember, even if you stream for hours straight, you are not allowed to blink, move your eyes off the screen and certainly not move your head at all as that is proven cheating in the crazy delusional parallel universe that Kramnik resides in! Love your stream. Great educational content just like Danya 👍

Nice prophylaxis move by Eric in case Kramnik was watching
As long as you keep the great chess content coming, we won't care how much you choose to expose yourself, Eric.
Love when a bunch of 1200 rating viewers are calling the 37.10 free rook. We all felt like a 2800 player at that moment.

Why does 10 minutes last so long for other people and dissapear so fast when I am playing?
This has to be some conspiracy.
Just wow - Erics ability to calculate is Pythagoras like.
Please play the urosov gambit !!
Qxa8 was available (free rook?) but not discussed or examined. What did I miss?
"Ooh my head!" - Ritchie Valens
37:15 why did you trade rooks there? His Rook on A8 was undefended, you could just have played QxR.
oops!!
My proudest moment: finding the Nxe4 Queen sac line in the first game!!!
I saw the queen sac, and wondered why you didn't consider.
I had been seeing it in a bunch of lines for several moves. Probably I was missing things.

41:55 isn't Rc7 trapping the queen?
Did you fail to take a free rook in that last game?? The rook seemed like it was hanging after he moved his bishop between the queen and rook.
Yep, I was right! I love my little victories. ;)
Suspicious eye movements, dun, dun, dun.
You missed that queen sacrifice? That's often one of my early moves! ...After which I facepalm and resign...
37:09 free rook, qxa8, no?
The last game you were attacking the entire game. Saeed never seemed to have a chance.
Oh no my sleep schedule!
Hey Eric, can You play a king gambit sometime?? Cheers from Argentina!!!
Please Eric keep pronouncing the names of your opponents. So funny :-).
Why is Rosen not yet a GM, please and when would he be one?
I was wondering why you didn’t play the queen sacrifice
Love the beard
Very beautiful as always.
37:08 isn't the rooks free?
The only thing overexposed in that second game was white's king.
In an era of shining arjun, we find a good mirror for our own mistakes and fears 😐
You could've taken the rook once the opponent's bishop blocked out their Queen!!!!!!
I oversaw a Queen-sac-mate in 2 once. Since then Im ever checking where to sac my queen😂
Bring the beard back
where is oh no my queen tactic
I was really hoping he’d spot it. It’s a beautiful back rank checkmate.

Yes.
37:10 Free rook. Isn't it?
Gm2 Bf4-g3? - maybe some mental problem, idk
A PRETTY ENGLISH; AND, YOU MIGHT HAVE HAD A QUEEN SACK FOR MATE ON THE BACK RANK?
Thats annoying first guy resigned and didn’t let you get the mate
oh no my sleep
I was convinced that you had lost that first game after you allowed Qxb2 ... but then you pulled it out. Nice play there.
Love the English choice. I'm learning the English right now so it's really topical for me.

When I was 10 years old, I often had to wait for three or four days to get a game of chess. Now Eric sees a 30 second wait as an inconvenience.

Love the speedrun eric, hope it never ends. Also, can u somehow show the eval bar while playing the game...
That would be cheating
Not a huge fan of the eval bar in general. Better to see the engine evaluation afterwards
@@HelloImDavid1000 No I meant put eval bar when he is editing the video... obviously it'll be cheating if he can see the eval bar while playing
@@paradoxify_ yes I understand your request. I prefer to think about the position without the evaluation while watching the game being played.
I think adding the eval bar afterwards would take something away from watching the video. I like to try and see it as he sees it, no spoilers.
