I've had zero issues with app before and after the update? I have 19 Sonos pieces any probably use the Sonos app 1% of the time compared to TV remote, pressing the buttons on the Sonos speakers, or iPhone AirPlay to use the system to watch TV or room/whole house audio.
I want to add 2 Sonos SLs to my Beam Gen 2. I do like to listen to a lot of music as well as watch TV. Is it possible to turn down or turn off the soundbar when listening to music so the surround speakers become the main / only speakers playing?
The sub is so often overlooked / ignored. However, it makes such an astonishing difference to the sound. It really transforms your setup. Highly recommended
Did you put your sub under/near your TV facing the sofa or next to your sofa? curious on a Sub set up- since I seen it placed both next to sofa/chair or right next to TV.
I'm using Beam + 2 Ones, with a wall behind a sofa. Dolby is recommending pointing surrounds towards the seating position, so I'm curious why did you decide to keep surrounds almost pointing straight ahead? Thanks!
I use bookshelf Symfonisks as rears. They are loud enough for me. I've never really missed a bass because of my Arc's capability to produce enough of it. Maybe someday I'll think about it. But, yes, rears before sub.
Would anyone recommend the IKEA symfonisk picture frame speakers? Based on my layout they would be mounted on opposing walls on either side of my sofa. That would be an alternative to a pair of 1SL’s…the frame option would be cheaper than the speaker + stand option…saving about AUD200. I have an Arc and sub Gen3 already which I’m looking to get surrounds for.
I currently have a Sonos Beam Gen 2 and using two IKEA Symfonisk bookshelf speakers with IKEA stand as rear channel. It perfect for small space and also a budget friendly way to add surrounds to your existing Sonos.
Got the beam, sub and two sl. It's great. The only downside of my setup is that both sl are more positioned next to the couch then really behind me. I can position the right one behind me but not sure if that's a good way to go?? What do you recommend? 1. Both beside the couch next to me Or 2. Left beside the couch next to me and right beside the couch behind me. Would appreciate your feedback.
Great vid as always, als love the new studio! Perhaps a suggestion, could you do a vid showing different mounting brackets and cable management options for ones as rears? Seeing both the beam and arc spaces use floor stands it might be good to swap one out to show what other possibilities there are.
Thanks for the comment and yes we do now have some wall mounted Sonos speakers in the showroom which I’m sure we will cover in upcoming videos. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.
I don't understand why Sonos don't let 2 speakers to act as front left and right with soundbar as centre. That will dramatically improve your sound as oppose to soundbar taking duties of left/right stereo and also when you want to listen to music you can have great stereo speakers instead of listening to the soundbar.
Maybe my setup is bad but I have an arc and two play ones front left and right because I can’t put them in the rear. I did the true tuning and my assumption was since they’re just called surrounds that didn’t require them to be in the baxk
I’m using the ikea Symfonisk lamps as rears and they sound great! I am, however, considering saving up for a pair of five’s as my room is long and rears are a little further than I’d like (had to compromise with wife for placement 😂)
@@quickelement 99% of the time they work perfectly. Only a few times they fell out of sync with the arc, in which case all I needed to do is unplug them and re-plug them back in to reset. That’s only happened like twice so I wouldn’t worry about this if you’re considering 👍🏾
i was considering getting symfonisk but i kept hearing one thing, they didn't sound as well as ones and can hold up against not needing to upgrade to fives. it gave me the impression of entry level "lets try surround setup in my home and i'll upgrade later" path, whereas the ones felt like the budget friendly way cause not having the want or need to upgrade to fives. but idk those wall panel/paintings of ikea symfonisk that just came out look so tempting...
I got the arc, 2 one's sl on brackets, and my prised possession the glorious sonos sub. You'll think your set up is great until you get the sub, then it sounds amazing, expensive yes, but very much needed. Do some overtime and treat yourselves. Trust me
I use a Sonos Amp with a pair of floor standing speakers as fronts, a wired sub and a pair of Sonos ones as surrounds for a 4.1 setup. It doesn’t seem to be a set up that gets spoken of much but its perfect for me. It has voice control, it’s great for films with the sub for the rumbles and the surrounds but it brilliant for music either stereo for enjoying music or all 4.1 for a loud party mode.
If I where to get a sonos amp , could I run the arc , amp , 2 ones and a powerd sub of my choosing 🤔 , or would there be delays between the amp and arc , juat don't wanna spend 1000 on a sub
@@tiegeraymond7223 I don’t think it would group up perfectly. Your arc and ones would be one room and amp with the wired active sub would be another. You could group them together but it’d be clunky and for the price difference you’d be better to get the Sonos sub, I think imo. If you don’t own an arc yet, I’d go amp and your choice of fronts and active sub. If you own the arc then I’d go Sonos sub. Personal opinion obviously.
One of the best videos I’ve seen regarding surrounds. I have the original Sonos Ones just brought and set up the Sonos stands connected to my Sonos Beam gen 2 and the surrounds sound awful they are intermittent and sound crackly when watching TV.. I have tried factory reset.. and they play music from Spotify brilliantly as surround in both Ambient and Full.. but such an annoying intermittent sound with movies and crackly with TV.. no idea how to sort this out.. UPDATE reset my Sky Hub and it’s corrected the issue.. wow what a difference surround makes 😊
I picked up a Beam Gen 2 first, loved it. Then I got some 2nd hand Play 1's for rears, amazing. I had to then add that Sub. Picked up a 2nd hand white Gen 2 and OMG.....it's just incredible!
I have 18 Sonos speakers and had them all on for whole house audio (1 Arc, 3 Beams, 4 Gen 3 Subs, 4 Symfonisk bookshelf, 2 Fives, 2 One SLs, 2 Beams). I think the max is 32 Sonos speakers at once.
Need advice… I just added the Sonos amp to my system, previously I had my Sonos arc sound-bar HDMI into LG 77 C2 arc TV port, after adding the amp, the arc port on the back of the amp can I run the arc cable from the amp to the arc sound bar bypassing the TV?…. when I put an HDMI cable from the amp arc port to the TV arc port …I had echo sounding speakers over each other…. they’re not synced….any thoughts …the amp is driving ….two external Polk audio in ceiling speakers… when I added the amp I set it up as stereo, I can control the in ceiling speakers with the app…. So I’m most concerned about is whether or not I should keep the arc sound bar connected to the TV arc or connect the amp arc port straight to the sound bar bypassing the TV, that’s what I would like to know, any thoughts?
Bought the Sonos arc one week ago after having just a 2 channel Samsung soundbar with a sub. I was totally blown away from the sound of the arc. The loudness and clear tone and clear dialog. Anyway, yesterday i bought the Sonos one sl for surround..holy moly how much fun every single movie became to watch. Easy set up and it just sounded amazing. Next up would be a sub. Not sure yet if i should go for the mini or the gen 3, but we will see.(depends on how much bass the neighbors can handle before complaining 🤣) Nice review from you guys. Learned a few things about the app. 👍🏻
Great video. Loved your style. Unfortunately the Sonos Beam and Arc only have one ARC connection, which of course is eARC to enable full Atmos audio signal from the TV to Sonos, as long as your TV is new enough to have eARC. If not, and you do not want to buy a new TV, you'd have to buy an Apple TV. But as the Sonos only has one ARC connection you can't feed the Apple TV to the Sonos and the feed the video signal from the Sonos to your old TV. (The reverse path.) You have to also buy a Fury splitter to go from the Apple TV to feed the video signal to your TV and the full Atmos audio signal to the Sonos. And so if I wanted just one extra feature on the Sonos Arc it would be to have 2 eARC connections to enable pass through. If I am incorrect on any of the above, please correct me!
As far as I know, ARC and eARC output sound on different pins on the HDMI cable & splitters cannot convert HDMI eARC, so using a splitter like that won't work you won't get any sound. As for HDMI 2.1/eARC and Atmos, if your TV only has HDMI 2.0/Arc then yeah you wont be able to get 'Full Uncompressed Atmos' BUT... couple things, just wanna say Sonos Arc/Sub etc are very expensive, don't have Bluetooth etc so obviously if you want to latest greatest home theatre audio with Atmos support well firstly you're going to need a TV to match (like putting Expensive Rims on sh#t car), Sonos Arc soundbar+sub is the most expensive offering out there but there are other great surround sound of you're on HDMI 2.0/ARC, using DD+ (Dolby Digital Plus) & support 7.1 with higher quality audio than regular DD (Dolby Digital) THEN AGAIN! eARC is backwards compatible with ARC... Yes it will be lossy compression to DD+, WHICH BY THE WAY is designed to sound as close to the source material as possible and youll hardly be able tell difference. SO if you wanted to grab one of the Sonos Atmos enabled bars now which will still work lovely even if you only have HDMi 2.0b/ARC TV and you'll be good for the future when you eventually get a new TV as well 😊
Great video. I'm running the Beam 1 gen with a sub and 2 1s as rear speakers. Mr. Lucas was wrong, if you are blind. :) Sound and dialogue are everything.
Just purchased Arc , sub and a pair of ONE. It was with pain in my heart to to say goodbye to my hi-end Dynaudio system. Optimising via this video (thx for that) might ease the pain and the wife is happy with no longer having all the thick cables running through the living room. Question: wouldn't it be best to have the surrounds about 2-3 meters diagonally behind the couch as you than have a more balanced experience from both surround speakers? That was my experience in cabled system.
Thanks from the U.S.A . Just got the Beam 1 brand new from Sonos for 299.99. Bought the new mini sub and already had the pair of ones. Watch your video and set them up. Sound great. Most helpful of all the videos I watched.
Thank you! Came here for the last part about the surround distance. I noticed while playing games that character voices would be louder form the surround speakers. Trueplay assumed the distance was more than 10 feet when in reality it was 2 feet.
Absolutely love your videos. Unfortunately I use them purely for advice as I'm not based in the UK so I can't make use of any of your other services. Personally, I got the ARC first then the sub as I'm bass hungry. MASSIVE improvement to my audio experience. I was toying with the idea of a second sub next however I think it may be more feasible getting the One SL's as my rears first. In terms of positioning, my couch is against the wall so they'll have to be wall mounted. I presume I'll need to angle them a bit towards the listener as well in this case?
What happens to the physical volume slider on the Rear speakers when in a surround setup? Does it just get disabled? Or does each speaker adjust every speaker’s volume at the same time? Thinking of doing Era 300’s as rear speakers
Great informative video as always. I would like to see a setup using all the Ikea products with recommendations 😎. Possible using a beam to support the purchase of another system w/IKEA
I have an odd shaped room. Imagine a rectangular shaped open room concept (family room). The TV is above a fireplace at the top right corner. I have kept a Sonos arc below the TV on the fireplace mantle. There are two sofas and one recliner. One sofa is against the wall on the bottom edge, while other sofa is on the top edge and open from behind. The best viewing angle is either from the recliner which is placed between the two sofas and facing the TV or from the bottom edge sofa. I would like to understand where to place two surround speakers in this instance. I don’t have enough space behind or next to the sofa. I was thinking of mounting the speakers 8 feet above on the bottom edge wall. Thoughts?
I currently have 2 Ikea symfonisk speakers in my living room! Also i would like to connect to them trought bluetooth! What would be the best way to get that sorted out? Does sonos have a device that can do this?
Im not sure if theyre still replying, but ive got 4 sono one sl, beam and mini sub. Ive been fortunate on the fb market place. My question would be where should i put the two non rear one sl for best experience.
If I buy 4 era 100s and connect them to my arc+sub will I be able to use the entire system as a 5.1 surround? Arc being center channel 2 era front left and right 2 era rear left and right Or they can only manage being rear speakers?
I have a room where my Sofas form a L shape and they face the corner of my living room where my tv is located. My plan was to have 3 sonos 1 speakers to place as surround speakers to fill the space is that possible? My thinking is one sonos Either end of the L and in the corner of the hell another speaker speaker
Help me lol I have a sofa but it's flush to the wall but on one side I have a radiator and on the over side I have a corner bit leads on to the back door how would I position my One SL speakers?
I have 2 fives for my phono and beam and surrounds (Sonos sl). I position the phono and fives at the fron of the room and set them significantly lower in volume when watching movies- works well, fills out the sound. Sounds amazing for playing music.
I have a Beam, but it’s not beefy enough for my room, so I’m thinking of adding 2x Fives. Good to hear that you are pleased with that setup. I often use the TV to play UA-cam music vids. Have you used your setup for that purpose ? Are you using the Fives in a surround mode, or just as extra beef ?
@@SuperSimonLewis yes, sounds great. Only thing to anticipate if adding two fives to the front of your entertainment area is that if they are set at the same level as the beam and or surrounds you will get an annoying echo (When speech is involved during tv/ movie). Personally, I find a good balance when I have the volume of my fives around three or four and my beam and surrounds at 20. Both set at equal volume for music. I have my beam and surrounds set up as tv room and my fives as a separate room 2.
Great question. I have read conflicting answers to that question. Some say angle towards prime listening position; others to position facing front wall.
Some incorrect information. You CANNOT use One Gen 2 to add voice control to a home theatre set up. Once bonded as surround speakers they lose their voice control capability. I use Symfonisk bookshelf speakers which are a great alternative, and cheaper, to Ones.
Hi John it is correct if your sonos TV speaker has voice capability but if not the Sonos One Gen 2 will Add the voice control to Playbar for example. Please see link with details en.community.sonos.com/home-theater-228993/microphone-of-sonos-one-disabled-after-becoming-surround-of-a-playbar-6840014?postid=16424301#post16424301
Thank you so much or this video! It has helped me a lot. I live in a small apartment and just bought the Sonos Beam + 2x Sonos Ones. That smaller 'apartment set up' helped me visualise the best way to position my speakers. Truly helpful.THANK YOU!
I ended up going for the Ikea picture frame speakers for mine. While they’re not in the optimal position they do sound very good with a little tweaking in the Sonos app.
Just replaced 2 SLs on either side of the living room couch with 2 new model SYMFONISK lamps. Love the look and the reduced space requirement! If you read this comment, any thoughts/tips with using those as surrounds? Does the sound emanate more circular rather than unidirectional?
Whenever theres something from the left rear, i hear the same amount of volume from the right rear. This kills the idea of surround. How do i fix this?
It depends on the audio source being encoded to give you separate rear surrounds, upward Atmos, or side audio. Having an eArc TV or listening to Atmos audio will get you closer than Stereo or Dolby 5.1 audio.
The only way would be to use the Sub Out on the Sonos Amp but I would strongly advise against doing this as it won't give you the official 0.1 in the 5.1 set up due to the way the Amp will be configured. If you would like to use a Sub with the Sonos system, really the best way of doing it is via the Sonos Sub and you also don't need to run an additional cable. Hope this helps!
Do you have the system set to "Full" or "Ambient" for the rear surrounds in the app? I also needed to set the eArc HDMI port from the LG OLED TV to "bitstream" or "Pass Through" to let the soundbar do the sound processing. Setting to "PCM" or "Auto" can make the TV to the audio processing and it can send stereo or Dolby 5.1/Atmos signal. You might get rear surround or weak dialogue from the center channel if you send a L/R stereo signal only from the TV.
Hello Smart Home Sound Team. Need some advice from you. I have an old Play 5 and 2 Play one speakers at home in use currently. I need to replace the Play 5 as it seems to be dying. Will a new Sonos 1 or Move be able to add to this network???
Great question, the Sonos Play:1 speakers are compatible with the new Sonos S2 app. The Move will of course work on the new S2 app. Unfortunately if the Play:5 is the first generation it will not be able to run on the S2 app. You could run this on the S1 app but would not be able to see it or group with the other S2 products. Hope this helps.
I have a semi-detached house, and I would be having these on my lounge back wall, which is connected to the neighbours. Would there be any large vibrations or annoyingly large sounds that the neighbours would be annoyed about? Looking at Sonos SLs pair with Flexson stands Have a Sonos Arc already
I have a question for you. I have a bit of an older Sonos system. I’ve got the Sonos subwoofer, playbar, and two Play Ones first generation. It works fantastic for my purpose. I have recently acquired two more Play Ones, first generation. Where would you put those? Would you use those as sides, or front left and right?
Thank you for the great video. I just got my Beam gen 2 yesterday and eagerly set up my surround. It was nice but the sound coming from the rear speakers (2 Sonos One) is less than what I expected. I almost couldn't tell if the. rear speakers are working unless I listen very closely to the rear speakers. Is that what surround sound should be? I'll change the Surround Music Playback to full as you recommended and see if it makes the different. Anyway, the Beam gen 2 is more powerful than I expected, works great!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I just set up my new system (Arc, sub, two Era 100s for surround, plus two more Era 100s for music in other rooms) and I was so disappointed that the two Era 100 surround speakers were essentially useless for playing music. Sonos seems quite thoughtfully designed so I hoped there'd be away to change their volume for listening to music or automatically unpair them for music playback. Voila! You answered my question. :)
I just purchased 2 One SL's to complete my system with my Arc and sub and they should arrive by the end of the week. Can't wait!! Loved the info about positioning!! Thanks and cheers!!😄😁🍻🍻
If one wants to experience the best surround sound quality (5.1) on terrestrial TV channels, then one would be better off going with Film 4, Ch4 or even Ch5. Of course if one was to own an AVR, then one would obviously know this! ENJOY 😁
i have the sonos beam underm my tv at the side of my desk. so therefore I sit direct in front of it at the side. I'm unsure where to place the One gen 2's though, should I place them behind my desk or right next to the beam underneath the tv or would this be counterproductive as I look forward to listening to content in dolby vision. it is possible to place the speakers near my window behind me but when laying in bed watching content these would not be in an ideal condition
I have a very similar set-up with my TV mounted on the wall with a Beam under it. My office desk is just to left of OLED TV and I sometimes use as an extra monitor for my laptop. I have my Symfonisk bookshelf speakers at the back to room on either side of a queen size bed. I really don't hear the rears sitting 2 feet away from the Beam at my desk; but, hear the rear surrounds+Beam perfectly on the bed 14 feet away.
Tip #1 Android vs. iOS. If your devices are Apple, you are fine. Don't bother with Sonos if your devices are Android. Android support is erratic at best.
So my room is on the second floor of our house and I have a sloped roof/wall off to the left of my TV with the other side of my room being a regular srtaight wall. How does this effect Surround/(Virtual) Atmos?
Hello! I am enrique from mexico. I see this video triying to find the answer. I hope you can help me! I have a terrace, 14 meters x 9 meters. Excuse my bad english please…. What you recomend to me… two sonos outdoor speakers or two move sonos speakers??? For me the most important Thing is the quAlity in a high volume. Thank you very much! I hope you can answer me!!!
Hi there, unfortunately not right now the ad maximum configuration is 5.1.2 with two speakers for surround only. Hopefully more configurations will come in the future via a software update.
@@smarthomesounds Thanks for replying so quickly, hopefully a future update would make it happen because then the fun stuff starts when you can plug more speakers to your surround sound for a better experience of Atmos ( the real thing with speakers from the celling and not the kind from the soundbar)
Thank you for another very informative video. I think I have told you in the past I am fortunate enough to own a full Sonos system -[ arc, sub, 2x SL's for the rears on Sonos stands ], as you mention in this video my sofa is against the back wall so I have my rears next to the sofa toe'd in about 20 degrees . I will be in contact with you guy's in the very near future to purchase a seccos Sonos sub , My question is ? will the second Sonos sub integrate with my current Sonos sub Gen 1 ?? & would you advise adding a second sub with my current set up- I am hoping to achieve a better overall balanced bass sound field - your help would be very much appreciated . regards Stu .
Hi Stuart, thanks for your comment, yes as long as one of your Subs in that zone is a Gen 3, you can pair a Gen 1 Sub with it. I guess on whether it's worth it depends on how large the room is, and how much you appreciate deep bass. If you're looking to get more out of your system, then I think it's worth trying out. If you're looking for the best of what Sonos can offer you, then you can try it out, see what you think, then return it if you don't think it's needed :)
@@smarthomesounds Thank you so much for your speedy reply & advice , yes I do enjoy good deep bass, but it has to be more balanced rather than just Boomy if you know what I mean ? - was wondering if I could visit you at your new showroom and have a few demo's , it would be towards the end of April ? - Thank you again for your response, Regards. Stu.
@@stuartmills7481 Hi Stu, I know exactly what you mean! Hi mate, I have a large home theatre being build , very confused what theatre system I could go with? 6.2m long 3.6m wide 3.3m ceiling height I have 6 power points distributed 2 at the front , 2 at middle and 2 at back . Should I have 6 Sonos five , 2 gen 3 bass And 1 arc
I have a total of 13 sonos speakers. I used to use them ALL when listening to music or tv.. because I like the sound to float all over my tiny home, at a low volume. Recently 2 of the play fives and the moves have started to lag while watching tv. So I'm down to the sound bar and my only 2 play ones and 2 play 5's. I'm extremely disappointed.
hi i need help please i have the arc speaker and 2 older sl1 (4 years old ) with flexson floor stands and sub woofer (3years old at least) i have old panasonic 60 zx series tv so no earc and will replace this with 77 /80 tv (which one?) this year my room is 18 ft square looking to create a good home cinema using amazon / netflix disney etc. perhaps 2 new sl1 for front speakers and use old sl1 for rear speakers (will make them wall mounted) Is the sub woofer okay or does it required new generation Any advice would be appreciated tks
Help! It’s the voice part I need nearer to my ears. So with these additional speakers, can I adjust the voice to be louder so I can hear what’s being said?! Much appreciated!
I don't need surround sound speakers. By using my 2 front speakers with crosstalk cancellation, i can achieve a true 3 dimensional soundstage whereby the room and the speakers "disappear."
I've been reading different things about how many speakers I can add to this setup. I plan on doing Sonos Arc, subwoofer and 2 in ceiling surrounds. Is it possible to add more surround speakers to that?
one problem about sonos i found is the buying experience sucked, at the time of purchase amazon had none in stock, and all retail big box stores had limited supply i had to buy my sonos surround setup from 4 stores, one store had the beam and only one ONE no SL at all it basically tells me they don't make the cheaper model and rather push the "smart" feature in the stores. Then i had to go to another store to buy another ONE no SL in stock anywhere still, and then for the sub they all had only demo floor models. i had to bourne identity mi6 deep dive google to find one of those sketchy electronic store that keeps asking you to buy their warranty and even gives u a "discount" on said warranty.... lol... just to find the sub. After that the wallmount i was lucky on... amazon had one left in stock and sonos wallmount is worth it cause it was powder coated paint. mind you i know i could've bought used on ebay or kijiji but i want the new-new and be the one to burn them in... what made the experience worse is also trying to get it all in white
Do I need a special multi plug outlet for extension as one of my Sonos One SL doesn't reach as far as the other for surround? Does a standard voltage surge protector work??
I do have plenty of room in my room to position my stand mounted surrounds as I choose. I keep hearing different recommendations for best positioning. I currently have my rears angled towards the prime listening position as some have recommended. Your positioning would be with no angle; straight forward pointing to the front. Please comment. Ty
I recently added the Bookshelf Speakers as surrounds to my In-wall Sonos & Sub Gen 3. A great upgrade indeed!
Exactly what I’ve been looking for… thanks for providing a precise instructional video
Sadly the sonos app is trash
gottq disagree there
I've had zero issues with app before and after the update? I have 19 Sonos pieces any probably use the Sonos app 1% of the time compared to TV remote, pressing the buttons on the Sonos speakers, or iPhone AirPlay to use the system to watch TV or room/whole house audio.
Nah.. It's better now.. Just harder to use since many features like the alarms they hid it deep inside the setting
I want to add 2 Sonos SLs to my Beam Gen 2. I do like to listen to a lot of music as well as watch TV. Is it possible to turn down or turn off the soundbar when listening to music so the surround speakers become the main / only speakers playing?
Can I also use two play ones instead of the ones with the beam?
The sub is so often overlooked / ignored. However, it makes such an astonishing difference to the sound. It really transforms your setup. Highly recommended
100% 🚀
I got the sub in my bundle mindblowing 😂
Not if you live in an apartment 🤧😭😭😭😭😭
I actually took the sub off in my living room because the base was a little more than I wanted. But it’s amazing in my home theater.
Did you put your sub under/near your TV facing the sofa or next to your sofa? curious on a Sub set up- since I seen it placed both next to sofa/chair or right next to TV.
I use the Symfonisk bookshelf speakers as the rears and I get great results plus at a much smaller cost.
I did the exact same I gave €100 each for them the one's are €200 each. It's a no brainer
The guy obviously has an agenda.
I'm using Beam + 2 Ones, with a wall behind a sofa. Dolby is recommending pointing surrounds towards the seating position, so I'm curious why did you decide to keep surrounds almost pointing straight ahead? Thanks!
Also curious about this!
Me too!
You should not point them straight ahead. that defeats the purpose!
I use bookshelf Symfonisks as rears. They are loud enough for me. I've never really missed a bass because of my Arc's capability to produce enough of it. Maybe someday I'll think about it. But, yes, rears before sub.
Excellent informative video As a Sonos devotee this set up guide was invaluable especially the rears positioning with a non standard room setup 👍
Ikea doesn't have those now, out of stock. Darn!
Got the beam, sub and two sl. It's great. The only downside of my setup is that both sl are more positioned next to the couch then really behind me.
I can position the right one behind me but not sure if that's a good way to go??
What do you recommend?
1. Both beside the couch next to me
Or
2. Left beside the couch next to me and right beside the couch behind me.
Would appreciate your feedback.
My Sonos ARC came to life with the Gen 3 sub, a total different system. My Beam with the Mini also. The surround will come later 😊
Great video! I use the Symfonisk picture frames as my surrounds and love them. I heard it’s equivalent to the Sonos ones
I did the true tuning and my assumption was since they’re just called surrounds that didn’t require them to be in the baxk

i was considering getting symfonisk but i kept hearing one thing, they didn't sound as well as ones and can hold up against not needing to upgrade to fives. it gave me the impression of entry level "lets try surround setup in my home and i'll upgrade later" path, whereas the ones felt like the budget friendly way cause not having the want or need to upgrade to fives.
but idk those wall panel/paintings of ikea symfonisk that just came out look so tempting...
Maximum How many sonos speaker Can we connect in a one group through wireless and play a same music in all groups speaker Thnq
Not sure yet if i should go for the mini or the gen 3, but we will see.(depends on how much bass the neighbors can handle before complaining 🤣)
Nice review from you guys. Learned a few things about the app. 👍🏻
Gen 3 and you can always control the amount the sub goes off
Peter pee’s video’s on utube goes in-depth into best settings for your Sonos equipment
(The reverse path.)
You have to also buy a Fury splitter to go from the Apple TV to feed the video signal to your TV and the full Atmos audio signal to the Sonos.
As for HDMI 2.1/eARC and Atmos, if your TV only has HDMI 2.0/Arc then yeah you wont be able to get 'Full Uncompressed Atmos' BUT... couple things, just wanna say Sonos Arc/Sub etc are very expensive, don't have Bluetooth etc so obviously if you want to latest greatest home theatre audio with Atmos support well firstly you're going to need a TV to match (like putting Expensive Rims on sh#t car), Sonos Arc soundbar+sub is the most expensive offering out there but there are other great surround sound of you're on HDMI 2.0/ARC, using DD+ (Dolby Digital Plus) & support 7.1 with higher quality audio than regular DD (Dolby Digital)
THEN AGAIN! eARC is backwards compatible with ARC...
And if you are not 60%
Just purchased Arc , sub and a pair of ONE.
Hi there. I have a playbar and was thinking about buying extra Sonos speakers for surround. What would you recommend. Thank you
Absolutely love your videos.
That’s for the positive feedback and yes I would go with the SL’s. Slightly angle them in and make sure you run trueplay. Hope this helps.
What a great video. Really helpful 👍🏻
So if using trueplay. After setting that up. Does adding bass and treble mess up the true play? Or does that add to the trueplay setup?
Good suggestions ...but I hate the system when you want to add a sub...& it tells you it can't find the device......😮
Thoughts?
I have the Beam 2 and 2 x Era 100s. Ideally I would mount them on the walls 7 foot behind the couch. Do you regcon this is too far?
I currently have 2 Ikea symfonisk speakers in my living room! Also i would like to connect to them trought bluetooth! What would be the best way to get that sorted out? Does sonos have a device that can do this?
Im not sure if theyre still replying, but ive got 4 sono one sl, beam and mini sub. Ive been fortunate on the fb market place. My question would be where should i put the two non rear one sl for best experience.
If I buy 4 era 100s and connect them to my arc+sub will I be able to use the entire system as a 5.1 surround? Arc being center channel
2 era front left and right
2 era rear left and right
Or they can only manage being rear speakers?
Playbar is still a beast, I careless about atmos, playbar sounds better than the arc anyway
Git the beam 2, a muni sub and 2 rear era 100s.
I think it's very good.
I also use the ikea lamps as rears so that it doesn’t look at there are two speakers sitting in the middle of the room.
Will i get much differences with with era 100s over one sl with my geam gen 2 and sub?
Is it possible to connect the sonos era 100 pair as rear surround sound from the yamaha 1080A receiver
Best channel on YT tbh, great content, great presentation.
Do you have information on rhe SLs vs Era 100s for surrounds please?
Should you angle your surrounds inwards if they are about 6 feet away from the sofa? Setup doesn’t allow them to be closer
Glad I could help!
The Symfonisk are a great option for surrounds too but they are still front-facing speakers so the same advice would apply for the Symfonisk's too :)
Will the sonos era 100's or era 300's be good with sonos arc or beam
For surround Sonos sl one 1 speaker enough or pair with Sonos arc soundbar
Whenever theres something from the left rear, i hear the same amount of volume from the right rear. This kills the idea of surround. How do i fix this?
It depends on the audio source being encoded to give you separate rear surrounds, upward Atmos, or side audio. Having an eArc TV or listening to Atmos audio will get you closer than Stereo or Dolby 5.1 audio.
Thank You for this!
Would love to hear your comments on adding the Sub!
Stay tuned for that :)
I have a Sonos 1 also a beam gen 1 how do I connect the beam to the one please
How to connect my sonos one gen 2 to my tv? Please anyone can help?
Awesome thank you for the video 😊
Great video! Is there a way to add a third party sub to my Sonos ecosystem??
The only way would be to use the Sub Out on the Sonos Amp but I would strongly advise against doing this as it won't give you the official 0.1 in the 5.1 set up due to the way the Amp will be configured. If you would like to use a Sub with the Sonos system, really the best way of doing it is via the Sonos Sub and you also don't need to run an additional cable. Hope this helps!
Play 1’s as surrounds for a beam gen 2 ?
I have a Sonos ray soundbar, and two Sonos play 1 gen 1 can the plays be connected to the ray as left and right pairs for surround sound?
Hi Toby, yes they can :)
@@smarthomesounds ok thankyou for your help! 😃
Once I set up my surround there is NO sound out of my back era 100s, any advice? I reset all speakers and re paired. I hear nothing.
I have an old
Play 5 and 2 Play one speakers at home in use currently.
Looking at Sonos SLs pair with Flexson stands
Have a Sonos Arc already
Ikea symsonisk series can also be used as surround
How did you place the Sonos Beam wall mount according to the acoustic wood??
Greetings from Emil
The Sonos website says the speaker stands are 83cm not 1m… that is quite a difference. You should probably correct that.

Can I connect more than 2 surround sound speakers to the soundbar? If I want to connect 2 speakers for side effects or celling sound effects for Atmos

Hi mate, I have a large home theatre being build , very confused what theatre system I could go with?
6.2m long
3.6m wide
3.3m ceiling height
I have 6 power points distributed
2 at the front , 2 at middle and 2 at back .
Should I have 6 Sonos five , 2 gen 3 bass
And 1 arc
Excellent video friend. Can you do the configuration for the beam 2 gen, subwoofer 3gen and surround speakers, please?
I have a total of 13 sonos speakers. I used to use them ALL when listening to music or tv.. because I like the sound to float all over my tiny home, at a low volume. Recently 2 of the play fives and the moves have started to lag while watching tv. So I'm down to the sound bar and my only 2 play ones and 2 play 5's. I'm extremely disappointed.
Keep the surrounds at music level +15 (Max). The Arc is not great for music. Using the two Ones at their full capacity sounds so much better.

Great video! How do you set up front channel LR with One SL's and an arc sound bar?
This is not do-able sadly, the Ones/One SLs can only be used as rears in a home cinema setup
Great Video, but can you talk about the EQ in a Surround System? That would be awesome. (Beam 1, 2 One SL)
Great video as always!
Ty
