Didn’t talk much about heavy use of dithering on the ps1 great video however. With how many games use heavy dithering I find that composite is the way to go with most games on original hardware since it blends in the colors and jaggies. However downside text isn’t as sharp. There are patches that can remove the dithering but unless your able to force color depth to 24bit via emulation you will have really bad color banding silent hill comes to mind. In some ways emulation has its perks but I prefer original hardware and games designed to be used with composite. There is a point where the extra sharpness in the games make them look terrible since you can more clearly see all the imperfections. I’m going to be experimenting with ps1 composite video output into the OSSC add on board and see how the line double and smoothing filter looks with composite input on modern display
@@rightspritegaming I do have an rgb scart cable currently running through gbs 8200 upscaler but dithering is super apparent now due to clarity. I tried pitching out the dithering running over rgb scart but then there is issues of color banding just as bad or worse

@@lamotoneta6640 I’m not against dithering it’s just that with modern displays it looks like ass. i have a psx since 1999 or 2000 as far as i can remember. i connect it to a crt tv. until yesterday i didnt recognize but there is a black line on the right side of the screen and the image coming from the psx is not centered. tried in another crt tv it seems allright and centered horizontally and vertically. so hope this problem is not related with my ps1 but the tv or the cable. i was using those red, yellow, white scart cables earlier but then i changed it to a rgb cable. the image quality is much better.
SCART but don't go for low quality unshielded ones. Instead get a properly shielded SCART cable which won't display any checkerboard pattern on the image. The checkerboard pattern issue is caused by the low quality cables use composite on sync method for syncing
My ps1 has the single video cable so I guess it can’t use the component cables ? Also I notice my ps2 when trying to play ps1 games I tried a couple and it doesn’t recognize them??? It will show the PS symbol sometimes but that’s as far as it gets. This is not the slim version either. Any suggestions ??
You can purchase a ps3 component cable that will work on a ps2 and you can play ps1 games on your ps2 but for your ps1 the out put can not carry out component. You can get a RGB scart for your ps1 and then get a RGB to component converter. Or you get the Level Hike HDMI ps1 / ps2 cable and get a HDMI to component converter
Hi, I have a new Samsung 4K TV and sadlly it has no support for old cable types like my PSone have(I cant use composite cables, SCART etc.) I find out about AV to HDMI converter but Im worried that it will not work because of PSone small resolution (240i) it is not supported by my tv. I wanna ask: Do you think that old RCU adapter will work on the new TV? I know it will be shittiest quality but it should work right?
Yeah those av to hdmi adapters are bad I would stay away from those.
