Can’t help but feel sad that it was over an eviction. Sounds like he reached his breaking point.
His breaking point was pulling money out of his wallet to pay rent.
He was evicted last fall too. Same reason, failure to pay rent. This guy was a sovereign citizen. He believed that USA's land belonged to Marocko. He also believed that he was a "Moor" and that all the land in USA belonged to these self-appointed "Moors".

He probably lived there for decades, grew there, he probably raised his children there, that was in his mind his home and he was decided to protect it with his life. Its so sad that he had to go that way due to the rising cost of living in the US. Tragic.

it was apparently his brother's house that recently passed away. Money was still owed on house and house was legally sold and a judge signed off on an eviction order. The dude had a lengthy criminal record and identified as a sovereign citizen, it was anticipated that eviction would be difficult so 7 deputies were sent to execute the order. The bank has every right to do with their property what they want. The mortgage debtor was deceased there probably no arrangement for someone to assume the debt.

They believe that all the land in USA belongs to Moors, including your land too. These guys drive cars without having licenses, squat in other people's houses (because "all land in USA belongs to Moors") and are generally a nuisance. Based solely on the premise of news information, this is heartbreaking because his death could have been avoided. He felt in "his understanding" that he had the right to defend staying in his family "home." We as a society and community failed in helping him way before today's deadline eviction day.
Regardless of what he felt, he didn't own the home. The house was in his brother's name, but no one paid the mortgage after he died. He was being evicted because the house was foreclosed on and sold. This guy had no right to the house; he was a squatter. But it's not as if he didn't have alternatives. His son said he has children and grandchildren, and assuming that they're not all homeless, he could have moved in with one of them. However, he felt entitled to a free home. He believed that he was a sovereign citizen and was not subject to US law. The fact that he shot up the neighborhood tells us all we need to know about him. He didn't give a damn about those who lived around him, so his life was not worth saving.
