Excellent reminders that like guns we need to treat swords with respect and caution. A former student had his katana ruined because some of his guests touched the blade without asking and it left rusted fingerprints. I have also seen many people casually touch sword edges to see how sharp they are only to end up cutting their fingers.
Yup, unfortunately new collectors are born every day thanks to anime and videogames so these basic rules need to be reiterated. I myself, considered to be a serious collector even early in the hobby, almost had an incident where an ADULT family member treated one of my swords like a toy and nearly sliced open her leg while my attention was preoccupied ( I was hosting Thanksgiving). You can never be too careful
@@notsans9995 quite something like that happen to me but nothing serious happen, i deverted my attetion towards to phone a second and friend took one of the swords without permison, and began to put all her finger on the blade i have to remind her how dangerous was that and for me unschedule cleaning time lol.

I always tell people, treat the sword as a perpetually loaded gun.
Most serious collectors and practitioners know this already.
