Is this a 5 bulky cotton and what other yarn can be used and hook with it?

Yes, I used a weight 5 yarn that is 100% Pima cotton. :) You can use any weight yarn and suitable hook to go along with it. For example, you can use medium weight #4 yarn with perhaps a 4.5mm hook.
