I love this song so much I've decided at my late age to take piano lessons so I can learn it. Before I die, I want to be able to play at least one beautiful song for a wonderful friend of mine and Beautiful Dreamer is the song I've chosen. Wish I could but I'll have to accept that will never happen. I love Marilyn Horne's version of this song.
The piano arrangement may sound simple but it's not! However, with enough practice you could learn to plunk out the melody line one note at a time. Plunk it first, then sing it to your wonderful friend -- double goosebumps for the price of one.
You sang so beautifully Marilyn Horne this iconic "Beautiful Dreamer" by Stephen Foster. Thanks also to the English ChamberOrchestra and Carl Davis, and Stimmritzenprotz. Am 78 yrs. old and love this song so very much. Robert S.J. Hu May 4, 2020.
Always happy to hear your fabulous voice and charming personality !!!! Thanks again ever so much !!!! In January I am now a year older=== how lucky to still be alive !!!!! Robert Feb., 24, 2021.
WOW! Marilyn does a great job on this, the most beautiful of Foster's compositions. I would love to have heard Marilyn and Nelson Eddy do this as a duet!
I was lucky enough to hear Marilyn Horne singing this live in concert in Adelaide in 1979. She sang this as an encore after an completely amazing recital.
Non l'avevo mai sentita, è bravissima e la canzone ha il fascino delle canzoni antiche e preziose, se ancora danni piacevoli sensazioni sono opere d'arte
in mine and my younger brother,s early school years, we were given parts in a play called ( Tom Thumbs wedding ) im not sure but i believe ( Beautiful Dreamer ) was in this play and have loved it then and love it even more today, who could not like any thing Stephen Foster & Marilyn Horne have done...
Hi my mum is over sixty and she has just started to learn the piano too. (She did learn a little when she was a child but her family was poor so it didn't last.) I think she's doing pretty well, and should be able to do a simplified version of this song in no time. Hope this is encouragement to you, it's never too late to learn. I hope you're having fun! =)
Não estou lembrado, mas já vi e ouvi esta bela canção em ritmo de valsa em western. Se não me engano com Glen Ford. Tão bela como uma orquídea branca orvalhada.

One of my favorite Steven Foster songs and sung beautifully by Marilyn Horne.

The voice is brilliant - too brilliant, it lacks warmth and tenderness.
Chi ha messo il pollice verso a questa meraviglia ha la testa piena di merda secca !!! Lo giuro !!!!
I met Ms. Horne. A nice lady, but I agree--I'm hearing more the voice than I'm listening to the song.
Oh, it's good enough. But for perfection go to Thomas Hampson's version.
