I have 3 honda z50a 1969 and 1970 from when I was a kid 40 years ago. I want to restore them. I have been trying to get 2 of them started without much luck. Started to suspect compression. I go an adapter to connect my compression tester and both of them showed 30lbs on both.... Do you have a method of verifying the compression tester? I really like your videos! I would like to buy the rebuild video but would prefer to send you the money from paypal and have you send me a link for the video if possible.
+Tom Long Hi Tom, make sure the compression tester you are using has a schrader valve right at were it screws into the cylinder head. Here is the one I use: www.howtomotorcyclerepair.com/compression-tester/ You can verify the gauge with your air compressor gauge to see if it is accurate. The rebuild video can be purchased with a credit card or paypal. Once purchased, you get an email with a link to view it. Thats awesome that you have owned them this long! Now get them running again!
i tested such a motor and it only had 35 psi... started verry bad and could not even use al the gears because of low power. problem solved with new piston
Hi I'm thinking of buying a 1984 atc 70. How much compression should it have? When do you know when it needs a rebuild?
Good demo..i have a '84 yz 80 low compression, motor has been rebuilt. would a new piston cure the problem? new rings didn't. ..
How much compression? What brand gauge?
Matthew- I purchased the rebuild video a while back but I cannot seem to get access to it now. Can you help me?

Anything lower than 120 is an issue. Frankly, I'd like to see more though.

+bjorn van de walle I have no idea how you got it to run with that low of compression! How much do you have now?
Yeah but i had to keep the rpm pretty high. I now have 9 bar around 130 psi
