    I am having an issue with my LTA 50/ KFX 50 motors. I have two that I'm going through. First one (LTA) had the crank seals redone and put on a niche top end in Jan. Ran fine until May before it had issues. I picked up a KFX in July that didn't run. The OEM jug/head is in great shape off that one. My plan is to run the motor that had the crank seals done already with the OEM jug and head and new piston. I haven't got to that one yet. Currently I am working on the motor from the KFX (not sure about the seals) and the Niche jug/head that I had rehoned/surfaced and a new piston (again). I got it together and it initially started. Got it to run/start a few times before it didn't. Tested compression and got about 60 or so. Trying to figure out the issue there still. Everything else on the quad has been cleaned and gone through. I even cleaned out the exhaust on the one I just tried to get going. Got any ideas or thoughts on my issues. Want this thing to run so my kid can ride again. He keeps asking and I keep trying.

      Could be a wore out jug. To do it properly you need to have the jug measured out and make sure the piston ring has the perfect gap or else you’ll be losing a lot of compression. That compression reading of 60 is really low.

      @@BTR2018 This jug was a Niche branded one of sorts and just put on initially in January this year. I had it honed again after taking it apart and asked the guy who did it if was still in spec on bore. He said yes. Anyways, what can I do measure it to the best of my ability. I have the manual to refer to but I only have digital caliper and feeler gauge at my disposal.

      @@kyleknoll1988 you need telescope, gauges, and then you can use the calipers to measure the telescope gauge to make sure this will get you in a ballpark

    Love these videos on the lt50. I’m having some issues with mine. Looking to change out the piston. Curious on which Wiseco part number you went with. Any info would be greatly appreciated. And keep doing what you’re doing with your daughter riding quads. That’s awesome. My son is 5 and absolutely loves it as did I with my dad. Kids never forget that.

    Have you done any adjustments on the clutch?? Have an 02 LTA 50 and quit running. Until I saw your videos it wouldn't start. But the seal on crank was pushed out. Had my son push it back and now it's running again. Thank for the videos, but still need help with clutch. When we first got it it would move nice with my 245lbs no problem. Now it just barley goes and I now weigh less lol. Can you help ??? I think it's the clutch I'm having trouble with now. Any ideas
    Thanks in advance.

    I'm currently doing a full frame off restore of a 1983 lt50 (first model year). Watched your video this morning and decided this seems like it it would be a cool little upgrade while I have the engine apart. Is there anything else I should consider before doing this? Like a cooler spark plug or re-jetting carb? I'm a bit of a novice

    • @BTR2018
      @BTR2018  4 роки тому +2

      Dude that’s awesome, yes you might have to go with a cooler spark plug and you might have to change the jets. All depends on elevation and your weather.

    Any idea what the compression should be? I have a 02 that is at 92 lbs of compression and I'm not sure if it is low or not. Second I had it running good last year and now it runs but is lacking power and stalls alot. Any idea on the stock air fuel screw settings? Thanks

    Hi buddy so you ended up removing 1.12mm from the head? Could you have gone any further what made you remove this amount and not any more?
    Also what plug did you go for the 4 is the standard but i read people saying go for a 5 or evan a 6 if head is skimmed.
    Also do you remember which main jet you used the standard is a 55 im thinking to go with a 65?
    Thanks.

    • @BTR2018
      @BTR2018  3 роки тому +2

      Yes you can remove more, you can remove till there’s barely an lip.
      I stayed with a 4 spark plug.
      I kept the stock jet.
