Cleaning a tractor diesel particulate filter - Branson tractor

- After moving dirt on the property, the warning light for the diesel particulate filter on the Branson 3725 tractor was illuminating. Rather than running the tractor at high RPM's to regenerate the filter, I remove the filter and clean it.

I have A2220C Branson. I deleted it just ran a straight pipe. I don't have to deal with that problem anymore
Did you leave the pressure sensors in? I think the DPF light continues to flash without the sensors hooked up on my 3725.
cool simple green looks like it works great. I use dish washer pods.
Maybe I will try that next time. It might be less expensive than simple green.
I wonder if SuperClean would work any better....... Might of been better to disconnect rubber hose off steel line rather then that plastic barb fitting, if theres a glue that would glue that barb fitting back permanent, I'd like to know about it........
I am not familiar with SuperClean. I ended up using super glue and baking soda on the barbed end of the sensor.
Scott, looks like quite a job. Maybe reinforce the barb at the base.
Other than super glue, do you know of a good product to reinforce that barb?
@@HamiltonServices530 Maybe JB Weld. I'm assuming that is plastic?
Hello Mr.Scott
There is a two part epoxy 😮Homedepot has that is great I’ve used it over and over and it has never failed me yet it is some great stuff.
Loctite Plastic Bonde
I hate this new diesel stuff they got added to these tractors and stuff. Soon my warranty runs out on my new tractor the
Emissions is coming off.
Try that glue I won’t break again . Appreciate you sharing and you all take care ..
@@MsdMakingSawDust Thank you sir. I will try that stuff.
@@HamiltonServices530 You can reinforce super blue with baking soda becomes very strong. There are videos on that.
If you're going to do all that work removing the DPF why not gut the POS and be done with it. If the dealer finds out you removed it to clean it they're going to void your warranty anyway.
Will gutting it out cause any problems with the computer?
@@swashington942 The Branson's have mechanical injectors and mechanical injector pumps, so no ECU as far as I know.
Just don't hook it like I did mine and throw it in. Get a Branson tractor it's A52 20C and I just took it off and ran a straight pipe on it. No lives or nothing it's fine
Branson does not have ECU. Old school diesel engine.
Why can you take a propane torch, and burn it out?
Good question? I never thought of that!
So how much time did you save over a regular regen?
What I don't like about the regen process is putting the hours on the tractor and revving the engine at high RPM's/burning fuel without actually doing any work. Recently, my tractor needed to regenerate the same day I needed to do some branch chipping. So I was able to accomplish two things at once. So far this year I have not had to flush the DPF.
can you run a straight pipe so no clog in your future? i have a tym t494
Good question. That would work but I would think it would be easier to bust the porcelain out of the particulate filter casing then it would be to repipe where the diesel particular filter was.
There is a fabricator that sells a direct fit replacement that removes the DPF. I wouldn’t smash it out, they are expensive. Buy the replacement and sell yours
@@brentoconnor6127 Thanks. I did not know there was such an item. I will look them up.
@@brentoconnor6127 What fabricator?
What is Simple Green?
It is a multipurpose cleaner and degreaser.

@@HamiltonServices530 thank you, I will try it
Please stop. You just ruined that filter. If you follow regen procedures correctly, it should only take 30 min. Possibly an hour if constaint idle or low load on the engine during the process. Besides, the engine ECU monitors regen completion. This does not tell the ECU it has completed one. Therefore it will try and regen more frequently. This video will only cause more people to have issues that can cost $1000's of dollars to repair.
Does your exhaust at least smell good?
Thanks for the info. I didn't think you could damage a porcelain filter with soapy water. I have been washing the same dinner plates for almost 30 years with soapy water and they haven't been damaged. 🤔
@@HamiltonServices530 The whole purpose of not adding any fluid to the DPF is not because of the porcelain. The fluids will react to the ash, which is acidic. This reaction will cause the ash to harden like concrete. Once this happens, it will not come out no matter how you try.
@@HamiltonServices530 Your dinner plates don't have sensitive electronics.
The Branson diesel does not have a "Regen" cycle.
@@johnkruer7557 Any Branson over 25 hp has a DPF.
