- Using a strong password is a good way to protect your UA-cam channel and Google account, but it's often not enough. The best way to secure your UA-cam and Google account from hackers is to use Google's 2-Step Verification, which utilizes something you know (your password) and something you have (your phone). To login to your account, you'll need to enter both your password and a temporary code that Google sends you via text message or voice call on the phone. if somebody can crack a 40-character password, why do you think they wouldn't be able to crack a 6-digit numerical verification code? I don't see how this really makes the account safer.

Always set up a Lock on your phone or other mobile devices you have linked easy access to your channel in case you lose them I nearly had a scare a few days ago

Aquatasy It's not too annoying. You only have to do it once a month on your computer if you check the box for that. Then Google remembers that computer/device for a while.
I think I'll start using this feature and perhaps I can get my wife to do the same.

Hey Tim. One question, if someone had not shared their password and they also had maximum security with 2 step verification, but they passed away. Is there a way for the executor of their will to gain access (with Google's help) and take over the account? It could be very important for their beneficiaries to have access if the account was a real asset.

Hi Tim, I enjoy your videos and have fond them really useful in building my own channel. I am having an issue that my view counter on You Tube which is freezing at 301 views for a couple of days after I tell my audience about a new video. UA-cam says this is to verify content authenticity and claims that they reset the count correctly. However, I can see this is not working through my own analytics - so my view count doesn't represent the actuall # of views. Have you experienced this issue and any suggestions?

Loving the new background. Thank you for the tip, will go and set 2-step verification. My only concern is that when I am travelling, while I will have my phone, I won't have it connected to any mobile network (just using WiFi) Could this cause problems, as I'm travelling for six months.
Explorelist You can print out a list of codes to use while you're traveling without access to your phone. That should take care of the problem for ya.

KBrightBeauty I'm sure it's still possible to hack an account by intercepting the code or something like that, but at least you've made it a lot more difficult for them to actually get your info.
