- How to Protect Your UA-cam Account from Hackers! Warning! ⚠ There Are UA-cam Email Scams Stealing UA-cam Accounts. ⚠ These UA-cam Hackers are using internet scams via email pretending to be UA-cam and Google. They are also posing as Brands to get access to your channel!
If You Want to Protect Your UA-cam Channel From Internet Scams you need to do the following things to keep your UA-cam Channel Safe:
- Update the email address in your ABOUT SECTION to be a business email NOT tied to your UA-cam account and Google Adsense Account. Avoid phishing scams!
- Use Two Factor Authentication on UA-cam/Google and All your Social Media Accounts.
- Use your UA-cam/Google Account EXCLUSIVELY for UA-cam and don't give it to anyone publicly going forward.
- DONOT use your UA-cam/Gmail Account for any other social media or any email correspondence. This his how they get you with phishing scams.
- DONOT use 3rd Party Apps that are NOT UA-cam Certified.
- UPDATE Your UA-cam/Google Password and make it complex. Consider using a password app of some kind.
-AVOID saving your password in your browser if possible.
- Have your own EMAIL LIST, I recommend using ConvertKit

Great info Roberto! Having multiple emails is key. Keep everything separate and no one should know your gmail associated with your youtube or adsense account. I switched over from sharing my business email publicly to only using a contact form on my website. This way if someone wants to contact me they can't just send me a email. It's helped eliminate a ton of the phishing scams.

This was great. Lately scammers have copyrighted actual Google music and then copyright-striked people’s videos and redirected profits to themselves. Google hasn’t addressed this.
This happened to someone I was subcribed to. They started uploading a whole bunch of strange Indian videos, like literally 100 or more . My feed was flooded

Thanks Roberto! Just recently received multiple emails from a scam offering to pay for sponsored videos for cloud gaming and heard some bad stuff that happened from other creators ... horrible.
They email me daily, sometimes multiple times a day. The funny thing is the email is going to a non-Gmail address. I don’t know if they’re slow or…?
It's a shame we can't just block these emails outright. It gets annoying having to delete them all the time.
In the Description I have some more tips for PROTECTING YOUR CHANNEL.
Copy and paste it into a NOTE for yourself for later! Backup EVERYTHING! Run a LINK CHECKER on anything suspicious for too good to be true!

*The email tip is a fantastic, easy way to ID Spam.* I get ridiculous phishing emails claiming to be Google/UA-cam at least once per week.

Hey Roberto, huge fan first of all! But also, the first email I got about this gave me that "roller coaster stomach" feeling. I luckily did not click anything and checked out my adsense and my channel to see if I had any alerts. I did not see anything there so I figured it was a scam. I have received a ton of these since then and was so happy to see you address the issue. I could have easily fallen into this trap had I not been savvy enough to question the email. (not bragging but I have been interneting for a while haha) One thing I did not think of for whatever reason was changing my email. It is so simple but something I never thought of doing. I am going to do that right after I leave this comment. Thanks again for getting the word out there! Keep up the awesomeness!

Funny to see this and also that you mentioned Twitter, as one of my Twitter accounts that I've had for over 10 years and over 100k followers just got compromised and Twitter did absolutely nothing to help. In fact, they just said they couldn't assist and closed my ticket. So yeah - not usually a good thing if you get hacked.

Hi Roberto few months ago i got that email asking me to give them my password, i contacted YT and send them a copy of that later, YT service said no we never ask passwords what's so ever! i reported and block ! thanks for the heads up! don't ever give your password to anyone!

From personal experience and knowing channels up to the 300k range personally who were victims, I’d also recommend to avoid “Brand Deal/Sponsorship” emails who have gmail addresses. Makes zero sense how A company can afford to pay hundreds to thousands but can not spend 20-30 dollars on A business domain. Also the most popular email subject currently is “UA-cam Channel Notification”. Two have suffered from this and I’ve received one myself. Using A email account tied to maybe A website (Squarespace) etc will also throw A layer of protection since you’re talking through A website rather then A account that can be tied in some way to your channel as well. Stay safe people.

I highly appreciate it… I received 2 of those emails last month (Which I didn’t really care, but just read them..) However, I received another one yesterday, and noticed that the pattern of these emails were similar, (always with a link to click on) and that’s how I came to the conclusion that there’s something fishy about them.
The first thing I did was to come on UA-cam and search videos about potential scams faced by content creators here on UA-cam, and luckily your video was the first one to pop out… Thanks again.
Just a bit disappointed that the platform UA-cam itself doesn’t warn content creators about these issues…

Same happened to me today
At 1:13 you make reference to "the gmail account associated with your UA-cam account and Google adsense."
It seems to me that using gmail would make your account(s) highly vulnerable to a hacker attack.
I have several UA-cam channels and Google accounts, and NONE of them are connected to a gmail account.
Perhaps being connected to a gmail account is only for newer UA-cam channels.
Almost all of my UA-cam channels are over 10 years old, and I have NEVER been forced to create or even use a gmail account for any of them.

Bethany Grace, It's very easy. On the "Create your Google Account" signup page, simply select the option that states "Use my current email address instead". That option is located just below the segment that asks you to create a "Username".

I'm glad that this issue is getting so much coverage now. This happened to my channel back in June. Whoever stole my account deleted almost all of my videos and deleted all of my info. I was beyond lucky to get my account back with all of my videos after 2 weeks of dealing with UA-cam's support...it was a nightmare. Please, be careful, everyone.

I already got multiple scam emails, but because it's a separate email account for sponsorship deals it's easier to filter them out (as Roberto said)
Extra tips:
-use different passwords for every (social media) site
-switch off automatic image loading in your email program, the scammer can see that you opened the email, so he knows the email is active to send more spam
-never click on a link in an email, the more scary the email is, the more likely it's fraud
When you mentioned the "UA-cam termination" one as a example of one of the scams I actually had one of those termination email, I didnt believe that and ignored it saying that il believe it when I see it and I didnt do anything wrong too. Good thing I didnt opened it and I appreciate this video as always Roberto much love again❤

There is one UA-camr I know of that fell for this.
Her channel name is Ircha Gaming and I was subscribed to her for a few years.
About a month ago or so, I remember seeing my subscriptions feed flooded with these weird Japanese live streams.
Luckily, she did get her channel back and then explained that it was an email scam.
It’s sad to think that there are people like this out there.

Good tips. Some of them are great to apply even for no creators as a best practices to protect our info. I’ll definitely be making so adjustment. Scammers have gotten more crafty. I work for a non profit and I’m regularly having to send out PSAs to not fall for attempted scams. Thank you for the great info.

I was about to write in the comments to change your email address in the about section and descriptions, but it was the first thing you mention haha. I’ve always had a different email displayed for business inquiries and know immediately it’s a scam when I receive these scam emails to that address. Never had an issue.
Hello there.. I'm still a little confused.... So okay we change our contact email in our about section to help identify scanners? But wouldn't like everyone else contact you at the address also since it is visible and accessible?

There's another scam circulating that a legal outfit is threatening to copy strike your channel unless you pay them $1,500 to avoid the matter. If they have a legit claim, they would copy right strike and you can dispute it legally. They're not looking for a fight, they're looking for an easy mark.
Sounds similar to what's happening to MxR Plays right now.
